BatStone #1: Hearthstone Differently - A Standard Tournament with Card Bans
Firebat has announced plans to create a new kind of tournament series which focuses on "weird formats". The first iteration of BatStone is bringing card bans to the inn which will restrict competitors from using certain cards chosen by the community.
Say goodbye to your tournament netdecks, this is going to be awesome.
All the currently available information on the event can be found below. We'll be providing deck lists after the event concludes and we'll be sure to let you know of any major updates.

- Tuskarr Totemic - 3242 Votes

Now THAT's a tournament that I'd like to watch. Although I wish the banned card list was a little longer, so cards like Flamewreathed Faceless would also be banned.
I remember posting this idea on his youtube channel when he ranted about RNG. Glad to see this implemented. Not a new idea, but definitely needed in hearthstone.
ban 5 op card, they will find and play other op card and deck. No point.
A very fresh idea. Hope other tournaments implement a system like this too. I love it!
Leave Tuskar alone and ban 4 7/7 :p
i think bans should be announced right before the tournament so that they have to make decks on the spot
and players should make bans for every round, so that there is strategy to the bans
Great idea with the community picks. There has been a steep decline in viewers for HS tournaments and i can see this bringing back interest. Possibly even shaping the future for most tournaments?
I think five card bans is not enough.
here what decks you going to see...
1- zoo ... ZOO EVERYWHERE
2- tempo mages or control mage/freeze mage (i think StrifeCro will bring control mage).
3- a druid deck without yogg - token or beast druid.
4- a paladin deck - n'zoth or murlocs.
and no one will ever think of playing Warrior,Hunter or Shaman
you're right, we should just ban all cards and all classes...
I don't think missing Fiery War Axe hurts slower warriors and Tuskar is also not essential for Shaman. They have enough other good cards. There won't be any hunters though and because of that C'Thun/Control Warrior gets a lot better (with King's Defender).
Well Firebat doesn't want to just completely destroy every single deck out there. If he did, then he might as well just create an arena only tournament. He just wants to take out all the BS gamechanging RNG and OP cards, like Yogg, Tuskarr, Barnes, COTW, and War Axe. Would you want to watch the best players in the world just try to make shitty decks work for one tournament?
I'd rather have multiple sets of banned cards. For example, the community bans cards they are tired of seeing and then players get to ban cards strategically. Still, it's nice to see something different.
5 cards only... you just go with decks without them (e.g. Zoolock).
Its not supposed to be some crazy rule set. Its just a normal tournament with 5 cards banned
I really hope this tournament and the other ones held in the future (Reynad was proposing Yogg and Barnes ban for whenever TemoStorm hosts an event) will get a lot of traction so that Blizzard actually realise what people are looking for.
Really looking forward to what people will bring and how they will play, got a feeling it will be a much healthier / more exciting tournament that any we've seen lately.
Amazing idea. Maybe only 5 card are not enough, but definitely can break the current meta.
I think this does not go far enough. I would be more interesting if they had banned the 3 most common class cards and Top 10 of all neutral cards played. That would force people to invent new decks. Aggro shaman without Tuskar, or Malydruid without Yogg … nothing really changes.
