Party Portals is This Week's Tavern Brawl!
The Medivas are putting on a special show, and you're the star! Summon minions with various portals to create a most excellent performance.
This week's brawl brings out a bunch of the datamined brawl cards adding in the Karazhan client patch and lets us play alongside the Medivas! You will be playing as Medivh so don't expect to clear out those class-specific quests this week, and the RNG is at an all-time high.
The Brawl
- Your deck is made up of all the portal spells you can think of, and then some.
- At the start of the game, a random Mediva will be placed on your side of the field. They all have the same effect of portal mana cost reduction by 1 so it doesn't matter who you get.
- Make sure you Mulligan for low-cost portals. You don't want to run out of steam early.
The Portal Cards
- Party Portal!
- Unstable Portal
- Maelstrom Portal
- Moonglade Portal
- Firelands Portal
- Silvermoon Portal
- Ironforge Portal

just not a huge fan of the rng fests. so far of all the brawls i like the unique characters/decks that vs each other or work together.
I got Summoning Stone from Unstable Portal = opponent instaconcede
Man, i got the " win 6 tavern brawls " quest...but this is such a slow brawl i might really skip that quest or maybe wait for the next one :/
My absolute favourite thing about this brawl is Romulo's attack sound
Despite the high RNG I really liked this brawl! My favourite is probably Party Portal!... since I really like Brawl only cards... seeing fresh things really makes me smile...
P/S: Does anyone think that this Medivh hero portrait is way better than the Medivh, the Guardian card art?
No actually, I prefer the way it is because Medivh looks way cuter in Medivh, the Guardian and I get to see it all the time when I use him :)
Really excited about Medivas as a way to explore a new type of card, opens up lots of interesting potential design avenues for the future. They remind me of enchantments in Magic a bit
I really liked this Brawl, but it seems that a lot of people got very salty in it, in the last 4-5 games that I played my opponents conceded after a bad random drop or an amazing one from me.
they are probably people like me who a doomed to lose no mater what they play. i played 11 games in a row and i get obliterated every game. rng games can be fun but when the previous turn they play unstable portal, play champion and i get romulo. and i cant get any board clears or some other bull every game. yes i am salty. its basically a coin flip tilted to everyone but me. don't take it the wrong way, i just needed to say something about it and you had the perfect comment to paste it on.
This one is decent, but very long and RNG based. Otherwise, compared to most of the others, it's interesting.
As far as I have seen [card]Party Portal![/card] only summons the following cards.
Red Riding Hood - 5 cost, 3/2 - Taunt, Deathrattle: Enemies can't attack this turn.
Party Elemental - 3 cost - Summons three 2/2 minions with Taunt.
Romulo - 5 cost, 3/4 - At the end of your turn restore 5 health to your hero.
Mime - 3 cost 3/6 - Taunt
I'm guessing they made these for the adventure but they were cut for some reason and they already had the art and programming done so they added the portal to summon them.
After 3 games I only saw Red Riding Hood, Mime & Party Elemental... maybe the rest have lower summon rates...
In my very first game, I cast 2x Ironforge Portals, which summoned 2x Flamewreathed Faceless. Truly nasty. I felt so bad for my opponent, who was very polite, that I wanted to concede.
In my game me and my opponent summoned 4. Gg
Not a huge fan of this one, but I see what they were thinking. Getting different types of portals, instead of just a deck full of Unstable Portal, is good in concept. Unfortunately it ends up as a grind of a game with wide RNG swings. Some room for skill but not enough.
I will say I really enjoy playing my first game in this brawl. It is RNG heavy yes, but it also does have a element of skill to it as well. And people learn from my opponent's mistake, if you see a Iron Juggernaut, don't play a Kidnapper on it unless you want to take 10 damage. And trust me you will likely get to end of your deck in this brawl.
Who are the possible Partygoers?
Little Red Hood is a 3/2 taunt yes, but it only has a deathrattle. Party Elemental (IIRC) is the 2/2 taunt that "comes with a party" and spawns 2 extras. There's also a 3/6 taunt Mime, 3/4 Romulo that heals your hero after your turn, and probably one other I haven't seen yet.
There was also Romulus who healed the owner for 4 health at the either beginning or end of each of his turns.
