Let's Nerf Some Cards!
Kripparrian put out a video to follow up the recent Warsong Commander nerf and shared the cards he feels need to be toned down to the ground. He shares the way he would nerf them and the way "Blizzard" would nerf them as well. Sorry Force of Nature, no more charge for you!
Hard to say it's sarcasm? Lol. Did you watch the video? There is no ambiguity there. He explains it all at the beginning: he thinks these cards need nerfs, but he wants to nerf them in a reasonable way. After explaining the reasonable nerf, that he thinks would make the game better, he sarcastically describes the way he thinks blizz would nerf it, and in doing so he is making fun of blizz and saying "you don't know how to balance your game, get on it," without directly saying it, and keeping it lighthearted and jovial.
Almost unsubed? And from salt? That's hilarious and quite a rash reaction. "I don't like what I hear, so I will chose to become ignorant of what I don't like." Even if it's a bad opinion, one you don't agree with, it's still worth hearing, it's the only way to learn. Thing is it's not even salty, and he's spot on about atleast a few cards needing nerfs. He is simply pointing out something that is wrong with the game and a way to fix it. And sarcastically poking fun at the blizz method of balancing. At no point did he get mad. Salt would've been approaching the subject with anger, and directly telling blizz off, in not so nice terms. Salt implies being more angry/frustrated than is appropriate. Well he doesn't even show any anger, you even describe his slight frustration as "understandable" which is pretty much like saying "he isn't salty, he's right." No salt at all. Great video.
And not a very good way to prove a point? He actually did an amazing job of proving his point. Any teacher knows you can't teach someone simply by telling them stuff, you must question them and let them fiqure some of it out for themselves, and internalize it. Help them along the way, but question them, rather than tell them. It's the difference between telling someone 2+2=4 or asking them what is 2+2? An analogy describing the 2+2=4 method is pouring water into a vessel, and as we all know, our brain, is a pretty leaky vessel. The 2+2? analogy is the concept of laying out a string, a general, but non specific path for the student, and to help them pursue it in their own way, and in that way they internalize it.
Kripp is doing just that by using sarcasm. He is asking anyone who watches the video a question, "which is better: reasonable nerfs, or the card killing nerfs that blizz uses?" Like a good teacher, he has an opinion, and he tries to get that message out, but he does it an a way that isn't saying I am right and you all must agree with me, He is asking doesn't this sound reasonable? He is asking do you agree with me? He is questioning you to go figure it out, think critically, and decide which is better Blizz nerfs, no nerfs, or his nerfs?
I don't agree those cards need to be nerfed. I think the answer is to print cards that can have an answer to them. Knife jugger especially is a card I hear a lot of complaint about. However knife juggler is at 2 defense. It dies to a lot of 1 and 2 drop removal not to mential a lot of early game minions. Piloted shredder is probably the most powerful card mentioned and even then, it has 3 defense, and it only gives you a low cost minion. Yes its a good card but no so much that it needs to be nerfed. When you see a juggler or shredder hit the board, how often is it game winning? I admit I don't play as much as most of you, but I get to rank 2- legendary quite consistently every month and never once has one of those cards been a game winner for my opponent. The same goes to the rest of the cards mentioned. The only card that can be a game winner out of nowhere is force of nature and by then your late in the game anyway. This is just my opinion.
We just need other cards that help out other decks. If you nerf a card, then something else will be played a lot. Let things be and print other cards that will bring other decks to the table.
he isnt even a constructed player, i think your sarcasm detector is pretty bad.
Sir, you seem to have left a box at the street corner.
Well, would ya look at that. Been talking about nerfing these cards for months. Some of them it is so obvious that they need a nerf, such as Piloted Shredder and Dr. Boom, they are so OP, and not nerfing them is so unhealthy for the game. Blizz listens to Kripp, maybe we will actually see them do something about it now.
I would be on board with all but the Mysterious Challenger nerf he suggested, just too soon for that one, it's only been 2 months since release while the other cards have needed nerfs for 1-2 years. And MC Paladin has counters.
Check out his next video called Freezing the Ladder. For the past week I've been saying basically what's in that video. MC Paladin doesn't need a nerf, people just need to play control decks. Control decks beat MC Paladin because the card quality of MC Paladin is terrible, something a control dekc can prey on. He even says the meta is currently in a state that allows for control decks to do very well, a few nerfs would even allow homebrew decks back in. Surprise surprise, pretty much exactly what I've been saying for about a week now: CONTROL BEATS MC PALADIN, THE META IS PERFECT FOR CONTROL DECKS.
So far we've seen Control Paladin, Fatigue Warrior, and Freeze Mage all having success. More are out there, just need to start playing control. Heck I've even been running a homemade Inspired Flood Control Paladin and on my way to Legend with it.
And the Flame Leviathan, haven't talked about it for months but when I was, I was saying almost the exact line he delivers in the video: it's a great card in a deck where you play no minions. Free Consecration.
Really love how Kripp is taunting Blizzard and Ben Brode in this video xD
lol the challengestone...
Firehouse Manabat!
Nerfing all the cards will balance the game. Kappa.
nice
Lets be honest... Hearthstone has become frustrating and boring.
I try to make creative decks to keep the experience fresh and enjoyable, but any effort is brutalized by facetards/paladins. Even arena is being consumed by this sameness (Have you seen any class besides paladin or mage?)
I came to a point where the only playable mode is the first day of the brawls (Then it turns into a showdown of the "best" netdeck).
FeelsBadMan :(
Yeah, Hearthstone has turned into a chore. I play because I have dailies to complete, not because I actually want to play or enjoy doing so (I have OCD). The game is shallow, boring and irritating- it promotes hatred of and contempt for my opponents when they beat me rather than respect or admiration. The meta promotes boring bullshit, the classes are totally unbalanced and the game has no depth (have you noticed that, unlike other CCGs, there are no "control combos" in the game, the only "combos" that exist are OTK bullshit ones, or simple 2-card synergies like Sylvanas/Brawl). Blizzard just aren't very good at designing this game.
I agree it is frustating sometimes, but I still enjoy playing it, it is my favorite game also.
I made a few decks that worked out, such as Dragon Mage and Hybrid Paladin, but both of them were "Meta counters", if you want to create a fun and new deck, you MUST make a fun meta-counter. The main reason for this is because Hearthstone doesn't has many cards yet, look at Yu-Gi-Oh. I've never seen a repeated match-up in their tournaments, that's because there are A LOT of cards in that game. However, if Hearthstone releases a lot of cards, peppole will complain it is Pay-to-Win, impossible to get good if you are new, etc. If they don't release a lot of cards... well... Secret Paladin happens. I guess we'll have to wait and see, but I do think that Hearthstone will get a lot better in some time.
Fuck yeah Challengestone. FeelsGoodMan
hey lets nerf all cards
You don't want so many aggro secret paladins? Then make Mysterious Challenger a mage card.
Make him a Rogue card. Rogues are underpowered now, they need some help. Right?
"Kappa."
Challangestone starts in 1 minute. Go Dog!
