HoraceWalpol posted a message on Scholomance Meta strongest opening? - What the hellPosted in: General DiscussionIt is strange. Blizzard nerfed Druids ability to ramp by hitting wild growth, innervate and Nourish.
A year or so later Druid has: lightning bloom, breath of the wild and overgrowth.
Part of the reason why those cards were nerfed was that they were evergreen cards, which gave permanent design space issues.
But yeah, Druids probably have a little too much ramp now...

Jennifer posted a message on how many wild cards can the amazing reno screw me over with?Posted in: Card DiscussionLet's try to find out!
There's somewhere around 740 different spells to choose from if we include Scholomance, according to Hearthstonetopdecks.
I've done a very quick evaluation of all of them and sorted them in three categories; almost never good, almost never bad, and somewhat neutral. The lists are in the bottom of my post.
Almost never good are cards that will generally just fuck your shit up - those are the cards you're asking about. There are 20 spells in this category.
Almost never bad includes cards that only destroy or deal damage to enemies or only generate resources for you. I've not included any cards that remove cards from your deck in this category, since getting fatigued by Reno is a very real possibility. I've also not included cards that generate too many minions on your board or cards in your hand, since cluttering can also be problematic, but generally cards that create 1-2 cards in hand or minions on board, I've counted as almost never bad. There are 255 spells in this category.
Somewhat neutral is everything else, which is 740-20-255=465 spells. I'll assume these have good and bad outcomes at the same rate, so 50/50. That means we can count half these cards as bad and the other half as good, for the purpose of probability.
Thus, a rough estimate of the odds of a good outcome is 487,5/740, or roughly 66%, and of a bad outcome is 252,5/740, or roughly 34%.
Here are the lists:
Almost never good:

ArcyroX posted a message on New Warrior/Paladin Legendary Card Revealed - Lord BarovPosted in: Newsit feels kinda bad to know this is a legendary card that you want to kill right after you play it...
imagine from his view: you are Lord Barov, and the player (who even possiby crafted you) puts you into your deck. Match starts, you get drawn and you are excited to enter the battlefield. You get played, you do your epic intro and are on the battlefield. Then you get a strange feeling... Even though you just entered the board, you get targeted, and its not a buff, BY THE PLAYER WHO JUST PLAYED YOU (haha double entendre)! First you feel shocked, then betrayed, then anger, then sad... And player kills you. While you are dying with all those feelings, you kinda explode and deal 1 to every minion...

Sherman1986 posted a message on buying cardbacks with gold ?Posted in: General DiscussionQuote from Sherman1986 >>I personally don't care about it. However, there are people who dislike things like this because it messes with the uniqueness feel. E.g. remember when Blizzard made Tyrande free in their new shop? A lot of people were mad because they obtained her through the previous requirements, and thought it was unfair that people got it for free.
I read a proposal that can satisfy both groups. Give the OG card backs something that makes them distinguishable from the purchased ones. It could be a different frame, a stamp or something else. In that way old players can still be proud of their card backs and newer players can enjoy a card back they like. I also like the thought of Blizzard acknowledging their long-term players.
Real collectors want the original stuff, not copies, so it wouldn't work for all players.
First rule of life: You can't please everyone all the time! ;)
I think you can arrange collectors in all sorts of categories. Some people just want everything, some wants the OG stuff, some wants all the stuff from a certain point in time etc.
But you are right that it is not possible to satisfy everyone. I just like the thought of Blizzard acknowledging their old school players by giving OG stuff a stamp/frame/whatever, so it is possible to distinguish between obtained and bought card backs.
I usually don't like Blizzard way of approaching things. It feels like sometimes this people have no f..king idea what they are actually doing, as if they were completely clueless about most stuff (especially when dealing with the community). Thanks for your polite and honest answer, much appreciated! :)

JoeSense posted a message on Yup, finally after 4 yearsPosted in: General DiscussionWooHoo!
Just made Legend for the first time. Secret Rogue got me to Diamond 3 and my own version of Dragon Spell Druid got me to Legend. My biggest take away is persistence and only worry about winning each game at a time. Plus I was able to think about getting my Druid to golden. I made Legend with 501 ranked wins.

Personally, I quit Hearthstone prior to the release of the Scholomance expansion. The main reason I quit Hearthstone was because RNG became too big a factor, and I did not enjoy the player experience anymore.
However, the reason I won't come back to the game is: the economy and packs. I have thrown more money into Hearhstone than I'd like to admit, and even so my collection is far from full.
Compare this to Legends of Runeterra: Great economy, F2P friendly, you buy cards and not packs and so on. I have been able to craft the entire previous expansion (except for a few epics), and I can craft every relevant card of the upcoming expansion. As long as Hearthstone is more of a gamble than a collector’s game, I am out - except for a few game of battegrounds here and there.

I get where you are coming from. I quit playing Hearthstine prior to Scholomance Acadademy because I didn't like the direction Hearthstone took, and I found a CCG that was more to my liking. I think Hearthstone is a game that is fun to watch Youtube highlights from and frustrating to play.
However, instead of creating a post that's just a bunch of salt about various meta decks then stop playing. Do something with your time that you like. You can create threads like these about every meta in Hearthstone (except in the early days), and you can find tons of similar threads in the forums on Hearthpwn. There is nothing new about it; you just don't like this meta.
Blizzard has powercreeped the hell out of the game, and they will probably continue to do so - unless they release Hearthstone 2.

I am pretty sure it's quite popular. Otherwise Blizzard wouldn't put that much energy into it.
Fair enough you don't like it. A lot of other people do. Each to their own you know.

I played Hearthstone since release and played up till the release of the lastest expansion. I am done (though I still follow the community and watch it on YT). I agree that RNG is too big factor in the current state of the game. Rogues with lackeys, Priest/Shaman/Mage with random card generation, Druids with crazy high rolls and what not. In the end I didn't even like when I was high rolling: "Oh, I have lost this game. No wait I got a random board clear. GG ez", and it was tilting to be winning until a random generated puzzlebox obliterated my board and gave the opponent minions at the time.
I am not saying Hearthstone is trash and I get why people find the RNG funny - and it makes for great YT content. It's just not for my liking.

You got me.
Well played. :D

Neutral mass silence is not the way to go. There is a reason why silence is limited and only some classes have it.
9
Mana reduction has a significantly higher impact than a total of 4 stats - especially when we are talking about the late game. 8 mana is lot better than 9 mana.
