posted a message on How I made rank 5

Just made rank 5 for the first time.  It seemed a little more important with the new reward.  I thought I'd make a thread for folks that were struggling to rank up and wanted a little advice.

So, I was playing a double combo druid up til rank #10, then I hit a brick wall.  It seemed like once I got to rank #10 I started facing folks with good decks and skill for the most part.  So, I went searching for another way.

I found Mid-Range Hunter.  I copied the deck, card for card with no changes.  from

    http://www.hearthpwn.com/decks/277590-1-legend-with-reinhardts-midrange-hunter-s16

He's got a great guide on there as well.  I didn't find I used the guide, but, surely it'll help folks get pointed in the right direction.

The only deck I faced that stomped me while ranking up was Control Warrior.  EVERYTHING else I faced I was winning more than I lost.  Just a beautiful deck and not that expensive outside of Dr. Boom which you are going to either have or want anyway.

Best of luck to everyone getting that rank 5 chest!

I still don't get the point of this.  Blizz wouldn't just randomly do a change like this without some rationale.  But, I'm really struggling to see what the goal of this change was/is.

I'd rather some larger quests.  'win 2 with each class for 300 gold' type of stuff.

I don't understand the need for the win 3 with hero quests.  Anyone figure this out?  Seems to me it'll just further make it hard to get non-hero quests like Watch and Learn.

I think this card is better than folks give it credit for.  I could definitely see it finding a home in some taunt heavy decks.

posted a message on Stuck at rank 10

I think it was either my deck or meta.  Switched to Mid Range Hunter and went on a 4-0 tear to get to rank #9.

Mid range hunter is pretty awesome.

Just rambling here a bit, feel free to quit reading... but

One of my matches was a mirror match.  My opponent played a Highmane with nothing else on his side and I responded by dropping a freezing trap.  For some reason he attacked into it.  I don't really get why he did that?  Maybe he was going to lose either way and figured it was a go big or go home moment?

I'm trying unsuccessfully to not get excited about the end of season reward.  I'm sure it's going to be a giant letdown.  Like digging ditches all day then getting a dollar tip for your effort.

    Gee thanks.

Still, a dollar is better than no dollar.

posted a message on Stuck at rank 10

Been playing ramp Druid and it was rocking and rolling til I hit rank 10 and now I'm losing more than I'm winning.  Pretty stuck.

I'm wondering what the reason is.  My deck?  My skillz?  The meta?  Has anyone had this problem, and how did you move forward?

Here's my deck if you think that might be the problem.

posted a message on Crafting this Legendary first.......

Truehart looks the most fun, but, I still need an Alextraza and Tirion, so I don't think I'll be crafting any TGT legendaries anytime soon.

But, my my eye the Valkyre twins look the most interesting.  Terrific bodies with strong abilities that will fit right into any deck running some enchantments or Spare parts.  I'm guessing that when I finally do get around to crafting some TGT cards that these guys will be at the top of my list.

I've won 4 straight games in casual with this deck, a lot of fun though I swapped out 1 SOJ and swapped a senjin for deathlord.

Who knows after more testing, I might test it out on legend ranked! Good deck man!

SOJ will forever be Stone of Jordan to me.  So, you are confusing the heck out of me here.

    Quote from Elementalkin jump

I put way too much effort into this week.  My card took me about 2 hours to create.  Hard to watch it lose to cards that took a fraction of the effort or are even remotely interesting.

For instance, a card taht gives itself +2/+2 if it wins the joust has nearly double the votes. (actually -2/-2 if it loses but almost the same thing).

The leading card has cant attack with a self silencing mechanism.  We've seen variations of this card multitudes of times.

My best guess why folks dont like my card is that it is TL/DR.  They see the length of the text, their eyes glaze over and they move on.  I'd like to invite folks to take a second look and take a second to soak in all the information there.  I think you will find it time well spent.

My opinion is that none of the cards feel authentic because they're class based (rogue), but don't really have anything to do with the rogue CLASS, both in terms of their effects, and particularly the images used. Like for the initial spell, I dig the core idea but what does an Ancient of Lore have to do with Rogue? Well, nothing, you just used it because it's making a fist (signifying the 'Rock' in Rock, Paper, Scissors). Am I wrong?

The quality of the images isn't great either, especially Scissor Hands. There's balancing issues to consider, the RNG of it all, etc. It's just not a very attractive idea over all.

Thanks for the feedback.  Even if it's mostly negative I do appreciate it.

Why Rogue?  He just seemed like the Hero most likely to want to play Rock, Paper, Scissors to me.  Rogue seems like a bit of a scallywag that would wager on somthing like this.

On the image.  Yeah, I scoured the web looking for two Hearthstone guys shaking hands, but, couldn't find anything.  Then I just looked for an image where it looked like something was playing Rock, Paper, Scissors.   This was the best image I could find.  If you can find something more fitting I'll be happy to edit it in.  More than happy.

Yeah, some of the image quality was poor, especially Scissor hands like you pointed out.  (However, Scissor hands was one of my favorite cards for flavor)  I don't know if you noticed but I have a rock card, a scissor card, and a paper card as rewards for each outcome.  That wasn't totally easy to do and might explain why some of them feel shoehorned.

On play balance, I really don't know.  It's very swingy.  I think 60% of the time you will both pull the same class of card and for your trouble yo u get a coin and draw a card.  That seems pretty solid to me for 2 mana.  Especially in Rogue.  I thought that if you got a Rock Golem on turn 1 or 2 you would control the board for a couple of turns at least.  (and he's a fantastic Recombobulator target if you have that.)  If you get paper you get a free combo starter and 3 random secrets, I think that's pretty dang good.  And the weapon, man, I think that's the cherry on top.  Able to kill a Belcher, HIghmane, or Sylvanas and steal their Deathrattle.  Awesome sauce.

Of course you may lose the rock, paper, scissors match and end up spending 2 mana and a card to give your opponent something.  But, that's part of the fun of the card.  I don't think it's a card that was built for constructed tournament play, I think the title speaks to that, but it looks hella fun to play to me.
