Ha! I forgot I entered this and forgot to vote for myself!
Cool entries everyone! Cheese deserves the win, looks like a fun card, not OP but enough to become a build-around deck archetype. I like Zeelena too, neat idea. I think my own idea is a bit too silly to see any play, but it could be fun.
Ever wonder why you don't generate random Quest cards? Well, that's because they're hard-coded to not appear in Discover pools or other random generation effects. UNTIL NOW! Booty Lootin' Toomba will discover non-rogue quest. In standard, that's 8 different cards, meaning you're likely to be offered your first or second choice.
Nearly all the quests are easy enough for any deck to complete, excluding the Paladin and Priest quests. All the rewards are decent, except for perhaps the Druid quest. In Wild, it's a bit different, with most of the Journey to Un'goro quests requiring more substantial deck building decisions, should you want to actually complete them.
Good to hear about the new site. I just got back into these comps after a hiatus (and apparently losing my old account during some rebrand or something). Excited to keep at it on the new site whenever that starts.
Surprised your card didn't make it! It was the one card that made me think "Dang, this will probably beat me". You seemed to get the tone and silliness of bananas, which a lot of submissions didn't seem to grasp.
And of course Bananas win. Razorpetals have their weird little niche in Un'goro but it's hard to imagine them ever revisited in an interesting way. It's way more likely they print new cards with 1 mana 1 damage spell tokens, with entirely new themes. Still, good to have the option in the contest. I'm just not sure anyone made a good Razor Petal card. I'm not sure what a good or new razor petal card would be.
Oh man, I'm in the finals! You should all vote for Bananamancer. Banana Cards should be funny, strange and simple. I'm not going to call anyone out, but these other entries are way to serious for banana cards. Also, I've never won one of these comps, this is probably my best last chance to do so!
Whats the word on these competitions going forward? We doing a few last ones before the site closes? Plans to migrate to a new location for the comps?
I love the custom art! I think that's a real advantage to have, its silly and fun! But I don't like the card text. Banana cards are kind of silly, you've got silly art, the card effect should be more playful and simple. Maybe just "Cast a Banana spell on every minion"?
Here are my ideas. Banana Crawler is maybe actually a decent card. Totally Bananas! is maybe good? probably not great. Spooky Banana is just silly and stupid.
Not sure which class to give this card to. Druid would have the control shell to run it but Hunter fit so well.
I'm not going to accuse you of ripping me off, but I made this card a couple weeks ago. Ended up submitting my Nozdormu Scheme instead. It's a simple idea, so its totally fair that you'd have come to it on your own. 'Low Hanging Fruit' seems like an apt pun!
Yeah, I thought my Sunwell Sorceress entry was solid, but it got buried under a bunch of highly upvoted spells and legendaries. No matter what happens there’s gonna be a bunch of disappointed people because certain ones didn’t read the rules. But on top of that the ‘rule’ that it had to be a buildable unit or building from the main 4 races wasn’t exactly enforced.
A better link would have helped. I was a big fan of WC3 back in the day, so it was clear to me what the intention was. I feel bad for the Pig Farm guy. I like the idea of a Pig Farm card, but that's only for fel orcs and blackrock orcs. The playable orcs only have burrows.
There’s gonna be a lot if invalid entries this week... too many people making spells or legendary minions.
the top voted entries on page 2 are spells and there's also a hero card with a bunch of upvotes. Pretty sure my Lazy Peon is going to get lost in the clutter.
Edit: It's way worse than I thought. I looked at current entries (68, posts 2-69) and by my unofficial judgement, 39 of 68 entries are valid, while the other 29 are breaking rules. Many rulebreakers are obvious: spells, legendary minions and hero cards. Other's are more subtle: minions based off of 1 time hero units, minions based on neutrals you can't recruit, minions that are based on unplayable factions from the campaigns, minions based on buildings that are only 1 offs or only part of the campaign mode.
I think this contest needed firmer rules from the get-go. I can't imagine you're actually going to disqualify people for making Pig Farm, Goldmine or Naga cards, but by the rules, they should be disqualified.
Two entries are kinda funny. Spellbreaker and Archmage. Both are already cards, with those exact names! The Spellbreaker isn't disqualifying by the rules... but it should kinda go without saying you can't reuse an existing card's name? Archmage is disqualified because you can't recruit multiple archmages, since it's a hero unit.
Does our submission have to be a minion? Tree of Life is a spell and an original wc3 night elf building. I think a lot of the buildings lend themselves to being spells over minions. Though some might make good minion cards. Thinking up Moon Well ideas....

Gyrocopter, Moonlight Huntress and Crypt Fiend get my vote! All three are really neat ways to capture the special powers of the original units.

Here's what I got, Lazy Peon is my favorite. Meat Wagon probably needs a different price or stats.
