     Its been awhile since I opened the doc with all the hard rules on this kinda thing, but if you're right, it's a weird order of operations. After all, the secret is already in play, so you'd hope it could counter something that is coming into play.

    The card is balanced, if they wanted to print it, I suspect the order of operations could be changed.

    Neat cards. Jinx gets my vote! Fun kobold hijinks.

    Flickering candle is cool, but I think it's too cheap for various priest otk decks. I'm guessing you can kill it, but no one would play it unless they could force it to go dormant immediately. I think a better mechanic would be to let either player to rekindle or snuff it by casting spells. If the opponent knows they need to clear it from the board before an otk, they have time a spell to wake it up.

     Hey, I was digging around in the WoW wiki to learn some lore about Loas. Freeze Shaman already has Moorabi as a legendary, and coincidentally it is Moorabi who killed the loa Mam'toth the Mammoth. There is also a turtle loa called Torga if you're interested in that.

    DINOSAURS! I'm really into the King Rezan with "Battlecry: Destroy your opponent's Hero Power". I'm tempted to give that one Rush as well. I want it as a counter for Genn and Baku. Your opponent gets 10 turns with the hero power upgrade, then you knock it out, permanently.'

    This will be a strange contest! A mix of scary powerful beast legendaries competing alongside synergy totems... the cynic in me says that Beast Legendaries get more votes?

    The totem thing is so tricky. These build-around spirits are a big unknown. Will they all see play? They don't seem like good arena cards, no one really wants to play a 0 attack minion in arena. I can see them working in agro, midrange and combo decks though. Probably not a thing for control decks.

    Legendary Beasts is seems fun, going to do a few of those first, but I also want to try the spirit stuff.

     I won't go that far, but I think it would have been smart to delay this challenge a few weeks until we see more examples of overkill. I'm still not sure on whether overkill triggers on both turns, or only during your turn. This would change the effective balance of every overkill minion that was submitted. Looking over the submission thread, there were many many nonsensical entries, though I've been gone for awhile so maybe the quality of submissions has just decreased. 

    Think of this way: the healing cards are still nifty ideas, even if it turns out they wouldn't work. Measure them by how much you like the concept, whether you think such a thing would be good for the game. Assume that all entries are functional, then judge from there.

    posted a message on Weekly Card Design Competition 8.20 - Final Poll

    After a long break from these comps, I'm excited to be back in the finalists. First off, everyone should vote for my Abandon Ship! card. I know it's not troll themed, but rogue is supposed to get lots of pirate synergy stuff in this expansion. I wanted to capture that theme without explicit pirate synergy. The idea behind the card is to make your opponent question their positioning (this card and Betrayal have inverted solutions to position), but also make them question if they really want to put out a totem or a 1/1 sliverhand knight, or if not using their hero power is safer.

    Secondly, I think this comp would have been better if we had waited to see more overkill cards. Some of these healing based ones just don't seem like believable cards to me.

    Excessive Violence: I like this use of Overkill as a drawback. It's simple and clear, fits the theme of going 'too far' that overkill cards are supposed to have. Decent art too, given how difficult it could be to find art for this challenge.

    Overcharged Bolt: Nice and clear, but I fear this in the hands of even shaman. I'd have gone with an odd cost and adjusted the damage. But that's a complaint about Genn, not your card.

    Purging Flame: Hell yeah, I love this removal. Anti-deathrattle tech is a paladin niche that could use more love, and this is a great way to get at it. Very fitting for an overkill effect, you're killing the deathrattle too!

    Wardruid Loti: I've always wished Druid had more reason to play all of those 'give your hero attack and armor' cards. This is a neat way to get at it, 3 mana is a perfect spot to make this a viable card.

    Has anyone learned whether overkill can trigger on your opponent's turn? It wasn't clear in the talks at blizz con. If it can't, this card isn't op at all.
