posted a message on Your best build & stats (Battlegrounds)

Finally got a good pirate build. Feel like it should have been bigger given how early I had all the key pieces, though; took forever to get the Goldgrubber golden, otherwise that'd have been closer to 200/200, and I think I only found one or two strongarms the entire game.

Used to enjoy this one, but I feel like we've gotten it like five times in the past year.

Anyways I got worked by SN1P-SN4P rogue. It was the unknown card during ban phase otherwise I maybe would have picked that instead of pogo given that he had no card draw. Live and learn, I guess.

Not for me, man. Not for me... It's the curse of the Murloc, I call it. If you're playing mechs or beasts, you'll always find Brann. But if you go for Murlocs early in the game you will never, ever find him.

    I would change Sindragosa.

Current: Freeze a minion in Bob's Tavern. Frozen minions get +2/+1 each turn.

Suggestion: Freeze a minion in Bob's Tavern. Frozen minions get +2/+1 each turn. You can use this an unlimited number of times per turn.

This would not significantly change the hero but will further lean into the secondary advantage of only freezing the minions you want and refresh the rest.  It would make just a little more useful late game when the stat boost becomes less relevant.

If you want to take it a step further I'd propose that the tavern refresh not touch frozen minions.  Only those minions not locked or frozen refresh.

Honest question: does Sindragosa need any help? Certainly not T1, but she feels pretty good to me right now. The stats are nice early-and-mid game, and I think the targeted HP has some nice utility late game, even, allowing you to hold a minion and still reroll the rest. Certainly gets outpaced late in the game, but I get a lot of top fours with her.

Such a fine line when you're dealing with small integers. We saw this with Elise, basically going from meh to T1 and back again when they changed the HP cost. Definitely easier to deal with stat changes (I love the Curator idea).

Patches change would be interesting and probably not too oppressive with Pirates in their current state (though the ability to 50/50 for Eliza at T6 would be pretty nuts). Compromise: make it a discover but with just a two minion pool to add a little more control.

Tess is a tricky one too because of how affected she is by the meta. Pre-nerf I think 0 cost HP would have been too much given that everybody was going for the same two comps. Basically would have been a guaranteed golden leapfrogger by 8 or 9 mana every game. Maybe with more build diversity and less powerful T2/T3 minions right now it'd be OK. Could also go the stat route, though, with something like "refresh with your opponent's last warband and give them +1/+1".

Tess Rogue + card draw. Save your shadowsteps for Tess, obviously. You'll get huge value from multiple Tess plays, but your opponent can't really do the same without milling themselves.

Not the best build but pretty funny and annoying nonetheless. Khadgar never got sniped, only lost to galactic 130+ hp elementals in final round.

I hate you for this, truly. Playing against Greybeard builds like this increases my rage level to eleven.

    • Monstrous Macaw's text has been modified:
      • New: After this attacks, trigger another friendly minion's Deathrattle.
      • Old: After this attacks, trigger a random friendly minion's Deathrattle.

This was such an obvious fix that it amazes me they didn't implement it before releasing this broken update. I suppose the leapfrogger nerf is still necessary, but having Macaws essentially go infinite by triggering themselves was an incredibly dumb thing to begin with.

Hasn't been long, but I think I'm about burnt out on this meta. Just too much powerful synergy in a few of these builds; makes any sort of off-meta concoction obsolete.

Any news of a balance patch?

    Hero thoughts right now:

    * Maybe Master Nguyen isn't the best in the game (I'm not entirely convinced otherwise), but he's easily the most fun hero they've released and an absolute auto-pick for that reason alone. If they do make a balance change I hope it doesn't gut him too much. Best move would probably be to remove some of the limited-use hero powers from the pool like Reno, Shudderwock, and maybe Zephrys (though it would bum me out).

    * A. F. Kay feels nice again due to the strength of T3. Doomsayer being the obvious culprit. I think my first game back with her was a Doomsayer + Khadgar turn with Acolyte of C'thun in the tavern and I just steamrolled the lobby.

I wouldn't say stat-buff heroes are dead, necessarily, because they still have nice top 4 potential. But it does seem awfully tough to win first place nowadays without a hero that gives you a gold/card boost or greater likelihood at triples.

Mechs feel weak, since the +2/+1 on DS pop is slow scaling.

I dunno; Omega Buster seems like one of the strongest cards in the whole format. Granted it's (fairly) T6, unlike the frog, but the ability to give massive buffs to a board of DS minions is awfully nice. And it may seem unconventional to throw a beast in the mix, but Macaw (plus Baron, obviously) really puts it over the top. Just gotta be careful and avoid Replicating Menace so you're not whiffing on the trigger. I think this'll shine a little more once Leapfrogger is put into the proper tier.

Leapfrogger seems kind of silly for a T2 minion. Probably need to cap the amount of times it can jump or something. Seems like it basically outclasses goldrinn and crocolisk right now.

I went with Jade Shaman. Didn't seem particularly strong, but my opponent was handbuff and boy was it crappy back then. Zentimo + Jade Lightning was nice, at least.

This is clearly the Wild Druid play:

Lightning Bloom + Lightning Bloom + Innervate + Skulking Geist.

Just need a 4/4 mulligan and to win the coin flip to start.

This is the worst brawl I've ever played. Why on earth did they start us with 20 HP? Dead to dragonflame on turn 3 every time without being able to play a card. And why is dragonflame zero cost and usable twice per turn?
