Why do I get the feeling this guy will be the Small-Time Buccaneer of the set...

DAnonymous318 posted a message on Arcane GiantPosted in: Arcane GiantTempo Mage dream opener, going second: (spells are underlined)
Turn 1: Mana Wyrm (Arcane Giant costs 12)
Turn 2: Sorcerer's Apprentice, Mirror Image x2, Arcane Blast x2 (Arcane Giant costs 8)
Turn 3 (assuming Apprentice survives): Arcane Intellect, Coin, Arcane Intellect, Arcane Missiles (Arcane Giant Costs 4)
Turn 4: 4 Mana 8/8
This has been said before, no doubt, but it's important to distinguish this card and Mountain Giant, a card which, back in the heyday of Handlock, liked to pop out as a 4 mana 8/8. All that was required for Mountain Giant to pull this off was that you Tapped every turn and had Mountain Giant in hand by Turn 4. For Arcane Giant to do the same, however, in a spell-heavy deck, you would need to have played at least 8 spells by Turn 4. Even Tempo Mage cannot do that reliably.
What Arcane Giant can do which Mountain cannot is hold onto its discounted Cost for longer games. Mountain Giant provided a reliable early-game tempo swing, but its advantage dwindled as the game dragged on and the Warlock's hand emptied. Arcane Giant, on the other hand, can simply sit in your hand or deck until it reaches 1 or 0 Mana (viz. Nerubian Prophet), then be played on the same turn as a board control spell such as Flamestrike. At any point in the game, a 0 Mana 8/8 is nothing to scoff at.
I think is card is powerful, but not broken. A broken or "overpowered" card is a card which unfairly dominates the metagame because of its versatility and/or its ability to be run in almost any competitive deck (Dr. Boom, for instance). Arcane Giant appears to have a very specific niche in spell-heavy decks. Keep in mind that in order for Arcane Giant to cost 0, you will need to have drawn and played at least 12 spells, which is almost half your deck. Arcane Giant simply will not perform consistently unless run in a deck which runs a substantial number of spells, along with the card draw necessary to cycle through them.

You do know Water elemental is exactly the same card lol only difference is text and tag. other wise it's no different and water elemental is a great card lol

so you're saying that a 4 mana 3/6 is just bad, lol i was giving examples that this whole set is themed around the self damage mechanic and 1 damage is nothing to cry over when the warlock hero power is deal 2 to yourself and draw a card what is 1 damage get a 3/6 body? alot better imo when it impoves other cards. and idk if you realized it yet but these cards clearly aren't rush cards so playing it slow has never been a problem for locks. and idk how this card kills you lol there is NO possible way it stays up for 10+ turns for it's self damage to be any kinda relevant with the amount of healing warlocks have.
This card will see play, especially if you can proc effects sooner, getting a spellstone maxed out in two turns is better than it sitting in your hand for 4 + turns and only been upgraded once, 6 hp on this card at 4 mana. it'll almost always last 2 turns at least unless your enemy drops a hard removal on this card lol which is kinda sad with how much bigger warlocks other cards are.
THIS is not bad card but believe what you like, warlocks have other cards with worse negative effects and still see play.

wait the worgen formdoesn't count as a beast? well that's crappy you'd assume the worgen form would be a beast, well then i guess it's not as great as originally assumed for a control card lol
2
the Necro was never a bad card just wasn't powerful enough to be played other than in arena. but at 3 mana it's pretty crazy lol

these warlock cards are insane did blizzard really like... play test these before they offically announced em? because the other class cards seem very weak in comparision.
3 mana 2/4 summon 2 1/1's is strong considering the only other card that has these stats is costed at 4 mana but 3 mana makes alotta difference here.

it wont work on hunting mastiff after the first 2 mana 5/4 every other Echo will be a 2/1

it's not just for spellstone if you look at the other cards released to can be used for Duskbat and Deathweb spider, both would bring alot especially since this card is 4 and the spider is 5 so you get a turn 5 4/6 with lifesteal and later maybe on turn 6 you play two duskbats and get two 2/4's and 4 1/1's
think outta the box my friend lol

okay this is awesome for spellstone upgrades and the stats are very good but... it's kinda just... meh nothing special it's just a 4 mana3/6 do nothing pretty much warlock already taps almost every turn.. this is just adding +1 damage to your tapping which sounds bad but staple a 3/6 to that and it's great i think if it stays on the board for 3 turns it'll instantly have insane value especially if it buffs your spellstones.
to many people here see this as just killing yourself but guys. it's 1 damage a turn... that's nothing when you can spell stone for 7 nd heal 7, and with warlock's DK... and all that.. this card would strickly be used to activate any kinda "damaged on your turn" effects that they add into the game which seems to be the whole point of this card and we might even see more of that tag since this card is printed.

okay so... we get this after we lose all the burgling cards? blizzard... get your crap together. this is gonna be a dead card in this Xpac and will probably just hit wild, even in wild this card would probably be trash, woulda been great if it was released with shaku
also to add why the hell is this costed at 4 mana when it only gives lift steal and +1 to swings per other class cards played.. why isn't it 4 mana 2/2 Liftsteal, gain +1 attack +1 durability for each OTHER class card played. then this would and might actually see play even with the very small amount of card stealing/copying effects but not longer than the first few weeks of the expansion

i really like this card, all shaman spells are good, minus like.. 1 - 3 of em not even though, definitely a must have in an overload deck too
