...Rogue has always been fun to play. There's nothing formulaic about setting up combos, making the most efficient use of your weapon, etc. GvG might have made non-Miracle variants of the class stronger but it hasn't fundamentally changed the way the class is played.

I'm surprised at how viable this pirate deck is. I thought it would be very inconsistent but so far the only game I've lost was a very close one where the opponent dealt with my pirate's cannon early on and then hellfired three of my minions to death. Even then I got the opponent down to 1 health before losing, so it was close.

    Quote from Leaga »

I dont see how thats much different than what we already had. Undertaker>Leper Gnome/Webspinner/Zombie Chow already made it so that the only way to stop the snowball was to have 3 dmg on turn 2. The mechs are just reinforcing that standard. Aggro decks are all about setting the tempo and it looks like thats the tempo that every class can set now.

The difference is that Undertaker was a 1-drop, so if you started first you could still play it. You can throw out your Leper Gnomes and Webspinners on Turn 2 and the result would be the same. But now the new sick cards are mostly two drops so you must start second in order to put them out on Turn 1.

It used to be that starting first gives you a slight advantage. But with the introduction of so many sick 2-drop cards that could snowball into a huge advantage if your opponent doesn't have an immediate answer, it seems like starting with coin is almost always favourable now, especially if you have a mech rush deck.

E.g. Turn 1 coin into Mechwarper, turn 2 plop down two Micro Machines and as many Clockwork Gnomes/Cogmasters you have, etc.

Certain classes also have early mechs that can be very OP, e.g Whirling Zap-o-Matic, Metaltooth Leaper, etc.

It seems that unless you can deal three damage on Turn 2 to kill that Whirling Zap-o-Matic/Mechwarper, you are screwed. Most classes aren't able to deal AOE damage until Turn 4 at least, by which time the game is almost over for you.

This is not necessarily a win more card. In close control matches, using this to duplicate a single big minion (especially legendaries) can turn the game in your favour. There is nothing more rage-concede inducing than having to deal with one Sylvanas/Troggzor/Ragnaros/Ysera and then realise that you have to do it all over again.

Quote from HelCam »You are 100% incorrect here. This counts as distance selling and therefore Blizzard would have to refund the purchase.

There was a small claims case with Steam not that long ago.  Steam claimed that they had an all sales are final clause, which was deemed unlawful under UK law.

With Steam they will always refuse a refund initially but as soon as you quote distance selling regs at them,  they will refund you, they have no choice.  I will try and dig out some chat logs.

EDIT: Here's a chat log (not mine, it's on rediit).

    Here is the applicable law:

    http://www.legislation.gov.uk/uksi/2000/2334/introduction/made

Thanks. I'm not a UK citizen so I am not aware of those Regulations. The poster I was replying to referred specifically to the Sale of Goods Act, which would be of no assistance here.

However, after doing further research, it appears that the DIstance Selling Regulations 2000 have been superseded by the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013. Those Regulations only allow consumers to cancel a contract for downloaded digital content if the digital content has not been supplied.

Edit: Just noticed that someone already beat me to this earlier.

I haven't met a single hunter playing casual. If you want to see a more diverse meta play casual; that's where all the people who are testing out their homebrew GvG decks are at.

Why do people keep saying that Loatheb is OP? It's a legendary and its effect only lasts one turn.

Don't worry guys, Blizzard will never allow a control class to dominate the meta because games will become too slow and turn off casual players. Blizzard will tolerate Huntards and Zoolocks because these are fast and easy and allow noobs to feel good about themselves, but archetypes like Miracle which are hard to use and result in boring games for the opponent? Nerf and nerf till the ninth level of hell!

I didn't mind Miracle MU. They were never long games. Most ended on round 9. Vs Priests they always grind to round 20+.

Exactly, and yet that was already sufficient for Blizzard to come down hard with the nerf hammer on the basis that Miracle decks were not fun to play against. Imagine how much faster they will act if Priests with their 20-30 minute games start dominating the meta.

    Quote from Lamamalin »
Miracle is not dead at all. They nerfed actioneer because too powerful with all the spare parts. One turn won't change anything against priests, which are just too slow. Miracles wil still wreck them. Did you heard that leeroy was nerfed and that it is still one of the best tournament deck ?

    So don't underestimate Mriacle either.

The Auctioneer nerf was just a small part of the picture. The more important nerfs are (1) making it easier to hit stealthed minions and (2) creating an entire minion category (troggs) and TWO heroes for the sole purpose of penalising spell-heavy classes.

Can blizzard legally decline to give a refund?

I don't know much about US/ international law, but I think in the UK there would be some sort of consumer protection regarding this sort of thing.

In the UK you have basic consumer rights (sales of goods act) that you cannot agree to lose. (i.e.  If a company has a clause like "no refunds" in the contract you sign, courts would throw it out.... if you act as a consumer).

There are all sort of things that may entitle you to a refund (e.g under some circumstances there are "cooling off periods", sometimes there are  remedies concerning mistake/intent,  if you purchased with credit card you may have additional legal options as well.... and so on...).

Its a long time since I was a Law student.  But still I'd be surprised if there were literally 0 legal recourse for (unopened) packs bought by mistake,

edit:    I would emphasise the "unopened" part.     The moment you open the packs it could be argued that such behaviour indicates acceptance of the goods.

From a contract law perspective, the display of the Classic packs together with their prices was Blizzard's offer to you, which you accepted by clicking "Purchase X number" (and entering your password). A valid contract is therefore created. The mere fact that you were careless and didn't choose the correct option doesn't void the contract.

As for the Sale of Goods Act, it does not contain anything that would require Blizzard to give a refund to customers who bought the wrong item due to their own careless mistake (where Blizzard did not commit any misrepresentation of any sort).

posted a message on GvG Arena WILL get easier

Just played against a total noob who tried using Savagery on a minion of mine when his hero had no attack. Only after casting Savagery did he proceed to use his hero power (even though he was frozen), thereby netting him one armor for the turn. He then ended his turn with two mana left and five cards in hand. Lol will definitely be grinding Arena while this lasts.

posted a message on What's in Your GvG Packs? (Pack Sharing Thread)

    Out of 69 packs:

    76 rares
    17 epics
4 legendaries (Troggzor x 2, Dr Boom, Malganis)
8 golden cards (5 common and 3 rares)

Pretty happy with what I got (at least I got the decent legendaries even if one was repeated)

With the above statistics, I computed the chances of getting each category of cards as follows:

    Rare: 22%
    Epic: 4.9%
    Legendary: 1.16%
    Golden (of any kind): 2.31%

posted a message on Will you be spending less cash on GvG because of the server issues?
    Quote from Mister_Smith »

So I'm going to tell you a little story. I'm a fan of many different genres and I'm into single player RPGs quite a lot thus i'm really waiting for the release of Witcher 3. Now it has been recently announced that the game got delayed AGAIN to may of 2015.

That is a delay of several months guys and i'm really kinda sad about it just as many other people are. Does that mean everyone is screaming "omg cd project red fucked up!!!!!111!!!!!" or "we are not going to buy the game now omg!!!!"? The answer is no. Because sometimes developers struggle to deliver their product or simply run into some issues.

Does that suck? Yes! But is it woth crying like a little baby because we get to play the GvG expansion a day later? NO!

There is a big difference between a delay because developing the game is taking longer than anticipated, and a delay because of server load issues that have plagued previous expansion launches. In one case it is unforeseeable and the other case it is perfectly foreseeable and indeed expected (Blizzard must have statistics on the number of players they have, how many have logged in the past three days, etc). So for this to keep happening must mean that Blizzard made a calculated decision not to upgrade its servers to handle the load.

Plus, Blizzard is a mammoth game developer compared to an indie developer like CD Projekt Red and must naturally be held to higher standards.
