posted a message on Yeah baby, aggro is dead with 40 hp

Won't be long before combo takes over again, right?  As soon as aggro dies, I'd assume even standard would develop greedy OTKs aimed at 40hp. Phylactery in lock, probably Brann in shaman and maybe druid, as soon as they see they can get away with it.

I'm more curious about things developing post-expansion, right now we can overlook about anything, temporary meta.

posted a message on Has mage ever been worse?

You think mage has never been worse, while it has 3 playable-ish archetypes? Apxvoid, is that you?

The sad thing about mage is that way too much of its recent history is connected to casino-ing.

Try making something yourself, mister netdecker, don't wait for theory crafting streams or the VS report. Maybe you're the next Habu and come up with something great!

This culture of waiting and just netdecking is why they started throwing big changes every two weeks to keep stuff fresh. People WILL end up getting burnt out if they keep this up.

posted a message on How about the idea of an All-Common Format?

I think there actually is a brawl that forbids legendaries and epics, and i doubt this idea will go any further than that. There's already so many modes to split the population in already, adding one extremely specific doesn't really help, just look at where classic ended up.

Oh god, he talks about democracy, on a private site no less. It would seem you're not mature enough to understand adult world.

What does democracy and this being a "private site" (which it certainly ain't) have to do with each other? I'm pretty sure the white house/10 downing Street etc are all private buildings too but are also part of democratic countries.

Also if anything, private sites are closer to a democracy than public sites (like this one is) because everyone who is allowed access to them generally have more say/power on the site.

The 'democracy' people mention is about 'free speech'. Free speech laws exists to stop THE STATE from controlling it, not a private party in a private setting. 10 downing and the White House most certainly CAN and WILL force you to control your demeanor, while if you're in my house i can control your speech and actions by kicking you out. You have no right to 'free speech' in my house, just like you have no intrinsic right to free speech on this site in particular. You have it because THEY allow it, in their private setting. Because they chose to moderate they have an obligation to keep doing it, so THEY don't become liable for something YOU say. A private site has nothing to do with democracy, it's not legally a public quorum, even if Musk implies it.

That being said, from a functional point of view, having likes and dislikes counted and shown separately can show that a thing is popular yet contested. Having them shown together in the same situation can imply lack of interest instead. First approach just gives more information.

posted a message on Mage isn't fun

It casts TWENTY mana worth of MAGE spells while prioritizing ENEMIES. For 5 mana quite often. Your request is bonkers. I'm already wishing for them to reprint Glacial Mysteries and the like next set just to make Rune worse.

It does go to point out what is the signature of this meta. It is diverse enough right now, but the high variance in a lot of these scams is back breaking. Hunter plays a Hydralodon on 4 sometimes which can be bonkers, or gets it out from sunken saber which does nothing on that turn. Mage might go runes and clear board and develop dragons too, or might spam the same secret, not only wasting mana but also telling you what it is. Desperate rogue might roll a Behemoth from the queen which they will proceed to shadowstep and stash a bunch of times, or get the now-trashy Nellie and get wrecked soon after. Jackpot is pretty much the description for a lot of this meta, you could get a flamestrike when you need it, or two bloody Seals of summoning.

I got triple legend this month for the first time, but screw this meta. Naga priest with a 4-12 radiant on turn 5 and a 7-17 or something on turn 7-8. Next game a quest priest playing four maelstroms in the same game, and so on and on.

Good luck playing around Rune of the Archmage on turn 6 if you don't have Okani or the like.

I'd be more worried about countering the mages instead, they're everywhere.

posted a message on Kazakusan nerf unhealthy for Hearthstone

What they did with the change is twofold. On one hand, trying to make druid work for their late game win condition vs the hard control decks that could handle the big oracle-giants-ivus turns but got wrecked by Kaz, which pretty much strangled the meta and made control decks unplayable outright. And on the other hand, gave those decks a late game win condition that they have to pay deck building restriction costs for, as a win condition should.

That is not to say Kaz was the only issue, it's the ramp+consistency+draw+big threats that makes the deck so well rounded, where Kaz was just tech for control matchups with no realistic deck building cost, which is obviously problematic. That is what they tried to address while trying to favor minion-dragon decks to open up deck building options.

You blame druid, and you have a point in that the class traits ENABLE Kaz to be meta warping before and after rotation, but druid doesn't do other things right now, it's also Kaz that enabled druid both pre and post rotation. Easier to hit a neutral while opening deck building space than to nuke druid based on this alone. But yes, druid WILL eventually be hit again this year, once other things come up. The fact that starfish+battle master can find room in that deck shows the deck shell is too flexible in the first place.

    Interesting 4set meta complications.

This serves to remind everyone that this information is unavailable in the actual game client. How hard is it to add a small button with changelogs, news and what not? HS has existed for so many years...
