As much as this is a necro thread, it is a timely reminder that a lot of people have no idea what they are talking about when it comes to how good an untested card is.
While we await the new expansion, take other's opinions with a grain of salt.

So apparently, the card reveal stream takes place at exactly the same time as the Mega Man 30th anniversary live stream by Capcom. I was planning on watching both live, but I can only choose one. Hmm... what a tough deci-
Card reveal stream. Easy.

The effect is definitely not worth it in today's current meta. Helps Big Druid ramp and dump their hand, gives Razakus Priest free cycle and ammunition for Voidform, and comes at a crucial point that accelerates a Bonemare turn if an opposing midrange deck can kill it immediately. Rogue also gets combo activations for free, which can be terrifying.
It's better than Hungry Dragon because it doesn't immediately negate its own stat advantage with that darn 1-drop. It's also a notable pre-emptive minion before an opposing Scalebane on 5, a rare early minion that can trade and survive against it. Also, the fact that it's a Deathrattle and not a Battlecry means you can properly take advantage of the extra stats this time, and if it survives for at least a couple of turns, the tempo disadvantage from giving a midrange deck two coins becomes much less harsh.
Overall, it's not the card's fault that it's bad, it's the fact that this meta in particular is really, really bad for it.

I like how Shaman is so far considered to have simultaneously the best and worst legendaries of the set. I personally think Runespear is less bad than people give it credit for, but I do understand the disdain.

Another minority opinion: I think there's enough Silver Hand Recruit generation in Standard for this to work, with the caveat that's going to be much harder to play this on turn 5 like with Quartermaster in Wild, given the lack of Muster for Battle.
However, with the understanding that Team 5 isn't going to print something as busted as Muster for Battle for Silver Hand synergies, this actually has some flexiblity in Standard. Lost in the Jungle, Vinecleaver, Drygulch Jailor, etc. It isn't too difficult to toss 3 or more recruits on the board before you play this card, and even then it's worth it.

This is suitable compensation, on the grounds that's the most awesome and random thing I've seen all day.

People are sleeping on this card the same way they did with Primordial Glyph earlier this year. Discovering a spell and casting it for free can't be underestimated. Also, I'd take a 3/3 weapon with three spell charges than a 5/4 minion with one charge any day of the week.

Considering what happened with the start of the Knights of the Frozen Throne and multiple reveals falling through (leaving Ticking Abomination as the only card for almost 24 hours), starting this reveal season off with an official live stream is a welcome change to the format.
