As I predicted when nerfs were hinted at, Druid is in last place on hsreplay today. Anub was the only thing giving Druid a chance in this meta.

Save your energy and just play standard or Arena for a more balanced game mode. Hs has 8 years of card in Wild mode. Its like being a basebasll team, and playing against every world Series winning team in the last 8 years, all at once.......its not gonna go well.
That’s just untrue because 99% of those cards are unplayable. Balancing wild is easy, just tone down turn 5/6/7 kill combos and early non game highrolls aka neptulon on 3.
the reason they don’t do it is because they want you to play standard.

Anarchy1 posted a message on Actually hating these decksPosted in: General DiscussionQuote from KingCarnage >>"higher power level format"
Gonna have to block you for being that clueless.
Wild has a far higher power level then standard. Claiming something different is clueless. It’s normal for druid to have 10 mana turn 4 now, Neptulon can be summoned turn 3, 10/10 in pirates on board turn 1/2, 7 attack kingsbane on 3, even shaman killing your with totems on turn 4 etc pp
the average game length in wild is wayyy shorter then in standard. And there are a lot more broken cards. So please explain, how should Standard ever be a higher power level format?

Zizka posted a message on Actually hating these decksPosted in: General DiscussionYou didn’t ignore it since you referenced it. It seems like you’re having trouble not doing what you don’t want to do and doing what you want to do! Also, your tone has shifted from being presumptuous and unpleasant to cordial and informative (which, I appreciate).
Regarding your question: what do I want? We can start with the axiom that variety is desirable and repetitiveness is undesirable. Provided that I don’t see every card in my opponent’s deck, my complaint is the examples I’ve given: Curselock and Implock before the current expansion for Warlock. Sure, you might say I’m missing part of the data but those Implock decks were identical, give or a take one or two cards. I’d say that’s an educated guess. Your opponent is Warlock? Then it’ll be one of the two. Same thing with all the other classes which is disheartening. Whenever I’d meet that 5% Warlock who’d be something else, I’d be surprised and found it fun and refreshing.
Having exactly ‘two’ archetypes for each class is beside the point. I meant more variety in general. Being surprised by an opponent’s deck 24 hours after release of a new expansion. I don’t think it’s too much to ask.Regarding the past and the future of the game: Before Renathal, would you have guessed that 40 hp/ 40 cards deck would ever be a thing? No? Then the past doesn’t determine what the future could be. There could/should be more daring decisions made to increase variety. If the current structure isn’t working, then logically repeating the same pattern will likely lead to the same results. The player base is eroding, I would think that’s reason enough to start questioning the old design.
Regarding your last point, that’s your opinion. I think having a system in place which incentivises playing the same top deck recipes leads to staleness and boredom. You clearly don’t. Good for you, you’ll keep playing and have fun. This being said, you don’t know what people enjoy. You can say *you* don’t enjoy crafting decks but some people certainly do.
At the end of the day, your approach is essentially conservative (it’s the way things are and the way they always will be) while mine isn’t (the way things are is lacklustre and there could probably a better way). Your content with the current game and I’m not. Judging from the shrinking player base, I’m not the only one.

The story of Hearthstone is one of classes rising to the top, becoming over-used, and then being targetted by the meta / superceded / nerfed.
It doesn't make your current situation more bearable but precedent should give you confidence that this is only temporary.

This, I have been playing HS many years, and it is always the same story repeating as you say. Many players that complain about the meta for not being able to win with wacky decks, about netdeckers, etc. Their complains are valid too, but that is what meta is all about, the fault is not on the players for wanting to play good decks, its the dev team that did not deliver a good product that is balanced enough.
Dk is going to stay on top until someone discover a counter deck and/or Blizzard hits it with the nerf hammer. What I see is that the trend with this expansion is that old archetypes are really strong still. Imp Warlock, Blood DK, Frost DK, Unholy DK, Pure Paladin, Miracle Rogue, if they get nerfed the next tier is going to rise, Shadow Priest, Relic DH, Big Spell HUnter and Mage. It is not going to end until they hit all of those or they rotate out.
It is difficult to certainly hit the nail in the head to create a diverse meta, but we have just to wait and see. I have left HS many times when I do not enjoy the meta, and come back the next expansion, at the end of the day it is just a game and there are plenty of other things to do besides having a bad time in a game you do not enjoy. There were always be people that enjoy a meta and others who don't, so enjoyment is really subjective and I do not think that is healthy to blame other players for simply using the tools available to win and enjoy the game. Instead that frustration should be directed at developers for not delivering a product up for your standards.

Zizka posted a message on Actually hating these decksPosted in: General DiscussionHonestly, the game is doomed to being stale by design, it’s time to pull the plug. I chatted with an opponent and asked him where he got his deck: « Top deck on HS Replay ». That settled it. Expansion after expansion, the best part is the first 24 hours when the meta hasn’t settled yet, then it remains the same. People just check on HS Replay and then copy/paste whatever deck has the highest win rate until the next expansion where it’s back to HS Replay to see what’s at the top. Then there’s no point in trying to experiment past a certain rank, you’ll just get crushed.
They shouldn’t even bother printing so many cards. Just have two deck compulsory deck types for each class (or one) and leave it at that. It’s not like the player base who try something non-meta stand a chance anyway. I don’t know what the future of card games is, but it’s not this format. You either stick to the meta to a T or lose most of your games. Nerfing cards makes no difference, it just changes the meta but it’s essentially always the same thing over and over again. There needs to be some kind of fundamental change to card games like this one. Maybe being forced to have bigger decks would force players to adapt to various contexts. Maybe more cards on hand too. As it is, it’s always the same. New classes won’t ever solve anything either. The issue is a fundamental one.
Maybe I’m naive but if you had decks with 100 cards, there would be some much variety on hand that going OTK would be a lot harder and players would need to constantly adapt to a variety of situations as opposed to stick to the same game plan. Players would go back and forth trying to get the opponent to zero.TLDR: the issue isn’t with the decks or the cards, it’s the format that’s flawed. Even if they nerfed DK, people would just swarm whatever is the « top deck on hs replay » to quote my dear opponent. There’s no hope until they find a way to encourage variety.

hydrafrog posted a message on Card Nerf Predictions for Festival of LegendsPosted in: Card DiscussionOP here... I've been playing the Amorphous Slime since it came out and cheating out the Flesh Behemoth and then hitting that with Shallow Grave has been a wonderful piece of stupid for me to play... The only defense I have for that combo/card is that it has a battlecry of needing that key undead in your hand and hoping that your opponent doesn't hit it with a Silence effect after it pulls your Rivendare, Warrider. That is a seque to a concede right there.
That aside, the reason I personally hated on Kangor, Dancing King so much is because he's a total mid-end of game answer for aggro allowing you to set up for the control/combo fight. And the reason I Twisting Nethered him was because my opponent's hand was empty... and then they drew into a minion and played him again... that seems wrong. Especially when his text specifically calls out "SWAP". If there isn't a minion, then it shouldn't go back to your hand.
So rather than nerf, maybe a big fix on that?

This is the effect that I wish that Gonk had. Better application and more versatility than just building OTK combos.

With the release of the first expansion of the year it is always a good time to play wild if you find yourself getting bored of the meta in standard a month or two after release.
With only 4/6 of the year’s full sets released it can feel quite ‘short’ of a few cards at times. Witchwood definitely had this feel and thus the high Baku/Genn frequency.
That being said, this will be one of the most fresh feeling meta’s in a while, with hopefully very new mechanics and some sleeper cards coming to light. Watch out for wild though, because quite often new cards can have some absolutely broken interactions with existing wild cards. Star Aligner Druid.
