 Excellent question man, this would be my next question too, I have been thinking myself on this a lot,

For me, I play Arena to earn packs, and opening packs is tremedous fun for me, hoping to get that tier 1 legendary so I can building something around it, so I can beat that guy with that deck that keep showing it in my face at rank 20.  

And I like to collect cards, hence I play Hearthstone, so even when I can't play constructed ranked, with the cards that I have, I still can enjoy the homebrew normal synnergy deck in friendly matches.  

I typically have enough over the course of the expansion to open around 50 packs+.

 You almost describe me here, except for the part 9+ wins :P, wonder how long more can I even get to 7 wins average.

 I have to say HS is the only game i play and mostly on mobile. So thats like a new game every couple of months when i buy a expension. 

 Well, while I'm not like you in that I don't preorder but I can relate somewhat to your experience in that I still purchase packs with golds that I got and still have fun building some homebrew-near-net-decks up.  

My goal for Arena is to earn packs, then I enjoy opening packs tremedously just to see if I get any legendaries, then try to see if I can make some near tier 1 deck with that legendary.  I guess while I certainly don't like to play constructed for the reasons I mentioned, but if I can make a tier 1 deck from the cards I open, I might do it more, who wouldn't like to wins in style right?

 Man, may be so, but I still sees those when I play at rank 20, I mean all types of near tier 1 decks too, taunt druid, malygos druid... The players probally like you say, bad, but seeing the turn 2 Dagger, turn 2 dudes, turn 4 armor summonning a taunt golem.... again and again makes me feel boring.

The thing is i only play arena in the start of an expansion to get every possible card out of that set or the cards i need. I spend all my remaining time afterwards grinding constructed. Because arena feels boring to me even though im good at it after all these years. I just use it as a means to grind myself some tier 1 decks without paying any real money into the game. Except some pre orders.

 I'm surprise though that you find Arena boring more than constructed, I would have thought playing against different decks everytime would provide more fun that playing against certain decks a lot?

Or may be you like the synnergies part of constructed more than the single invidual minions play of Arena ?

That probably stems from the fact, that if you do well in arena, you spend a lot of time there by default, since a 12 run can take even a few hours. And when your average is decent, that means your every other run takes at least an hour or so. So you spend your time playing the game mode you like - or mby i should say prefer - and there isnt much time to grind ladder.

 Yeah, this is how I feel too since I don't have a lot of time so I mostly play Arena.  My other reasons would be:

- I don't have many legendary or epic cards to make a Tier 1 deck to compete effectively ranked.

- The ladder just seems so boring with so many decks you faced again and again and you know how the game played out.  I feel like conceding the moment I see Baku opening with Paladin and Rogue.

 I think you mean when the expansion launches, you play ranked first to experimented the new cards, then you play Arena for fun right.

But then after like a month and a half when the novelty of the new expansion wears off, to save gold and with your skill, you should play Arena right?

That's true, this is one of the thing I lost touch off with constructed play.  I guess I will still make my goal to get to rank 20 anyway to get the golden card.

 Thanks man, I'm surprised myself as well on the 12 - 0, I know the deck was good but my skill might not be up to par to carry it all the way.

I guess at your rank 5 level, it would be the same rank 20 level for me to grind a few hours to jump from 4 levels down to what you want.  It makes sense, that why you will still be high ranked level while can spend a lot of time in Arena.

First of all, I want to gload that I just got my first 12 - 0 ever, :D.  My average is 4 wins so this doesn't happen to me a lot or at all.

So because of that, I have a chance to make some friends at high wins, totally out of curious to see how their decks will fare continue on.  And one thing I noticed that all of them that accept to be friend with me ( on this run ) are at rank 20 and below!  Even my 11 and 12 wins opponents are rank 21 and 20 respectively.

I myself only rank 21 at the moment so I can relate to that, I almost don't play constructed, only play to clear daily quest and to get to rank 20 to get the card back. 

So is that true? Are you guys who play arena a lot on the same boat as me?

Before KFT, I really want to get Warlock DK and Lich King cause I like demons a lot and Lich King is like the new Dr Boom.  I opened 10 packs and only get Bolvar, then my free DK is Rexxar, which I don't have enough strong hunter cards to really support Control Hunter.  Bolvar seems hard as well since I don't have Tirion or SpikeSteed to support, I do have Wickerflame so maybe I could do something.

On the other hand my wife account, which has limited cards since we only kept it so she can play with me sometime.  Her free DK is Thrall, and she already has EVOLVE, while I don't, so she could actually play Evolve shaman.  And then in her 10 packs opening, she got: BLOODREAVER GULDAN on her 3rd pack, I was jealous, on her 9th pack, the glowing lengendary apeared, I was jealous again, then I heard GOLDEN LEGENDARY and saw THE LICH KING! I was speechless!

 PS: she also get Ultimate Infestation too!
