posted a message on Save card packs or open now

So pretty much everybody is on the same notes to save the packs more than to open them right away.  With the double gold, it is even more incentives to get more packs and wait for the right time to open them all at once. So Excited!!

Strange that overwatch devs says their lootboxes are created when purchased not when opened. But we have confirmation that it is not the case in hs right ?

Yeah, in HS, cards are created the open we open packs, not when we purchase the pack.

posted a message on Save card packs or open now

So with the new No legendary rules coming up in about 1.5 month, assuming the next expansion will be mid August, I thought people would save on packs, to wait until then to open to avoid duplicate legendary.  However, so far, most of my friends just open pack right away, doesn't matter which set, Classic pack from Tavern Brawl or Ungoro, even though they have had some legendaries from the sets.

Personally, I would like to save all those packs that I earned until the next expansion, or may be I'm missing something here.  What do you guys do, open or save the packs?

    7000 gold, 1200 dust atm,

I don't have much time to play so I only play daily quest, so the gold stack.  I don't know how much should I save for the next expansion.

posted a message on How do you Value Weapons and Spells?

Like for minions, you can tell a 3 mana 3 4 is good, compare to a 3 mana 4 2 for example.

But how about Weapons and Spells, how can you rate it? value it?  How can you compare one with weapon with another and tell whether which one is better? Is there a math formula that you can bring them down to the same level and rate them? Like a 3 mana weapon, and a 7 mana weapon when bring down to the same level, you can say which one is better.

Same for spells, to distinguish which spell is better to include, let's just say in term of damage and removal.

Of course I eventually got drakes from packs, but I don´t regreat the dust, because those months I played with the deck got me more rewards and more enjoyment from the wins.
For your hunter, I think the Highmanes might be your version of the Azure Drakes: a VERY solid card, which will boost your deck by a lot. I´d also stick to the UnGoro packs right now, since its the set you have more commons which might help you.
    Good luck!
I like your thinking here about valuing month of playing worth the amount of dust spending.  I think one day when I have more cards and I still missing Highmanes, I will surely craft those.
I do need luck to open the Ungoro packs, haven't got any legendary from opening 25 packs yet.

Assuming you're fairly new to the game, I think I've been where you are now. And, while all the advice given here  is sound, it might be worth considering another factor. That is: do you already have some competitive deck, or this would be your first?
If you already have some other good deck, I'd say exercise patience, and be conservative with your dust.
But if this MR hunter is going to be your first serious deck, it might be worth to invest in the cards (just this once). Even if it's not tier 1, it can bring you to some decent-ish rank, say 10-5, or maybe even further (if you can pilot it well). And with the rewards you'll get season after season you'll have more cards / dust to manage as you please.
That's exactly what I did, BTW with hunter, too, and must say I have no regrets.

Thanks man, I actually do have another competitive deck: Pirate Warrior.  I have it since I happened to open Patches from packs, and then SouthSea Captain from packs too, it is like Hearthstone telling me to play the deck.  I want to swtich a bit this season since Pirate Warrior doesn't really utilize the new Ungoro cards, and I like many of the cards from the new expansion.  MR Hunter is the next cheapest option that I could find.  Unfortunately unlike PW, I didn't even open the rares needed to build the deck.
I think I will take your and many good guys' advices here to not craft the deck for now and be patient using my PW for now to climb the ladder.
On your point about the card lists: I do have 2x Alleycat 2x Raptor Hatchling 1xFiery Bat, 2x Fire Fly, 2x Vicious Fledging, still I feel the missing of other cards, especially Crackling Razormaw for early game, and Savanah Highmane for late game is so crucial.

If you're looking to improve your rank, I'd say crafting that many cards is a bad idea. This is especially true if you're not doing it for a T1 deck. It's setting yourself up for a big disappointment if you spend that much dust only to find the deck isn't quite strong enough.

I guess since I have limited playing time, your point is true, there is no point spending dust not on a T1 deck.
    Quote from Ophion>>

It depends a lot on how much you play and what set you want cards from. I would not recommend crafting Classic cards since you will definitely draw those given enough time, but if they're core to a deck you really want to play, go for it. I've opened hundreds of Classic packs, but until last week I didn't have a second Frothing Berserker ^^

For other sets it's a bit more tricky. Crafting these cards is worse because they will eventually rotate, and chances are that those cards aren't as good in Wild. On the other hand crafting may be your only chance to get the cards, especially if you are F2P and don't play a ton of Arena (or do well there). If your goal is to get a big collection I would avoid crafting since it's really inefficient, but if you don't think you'll want to play more than a few decks at a time, do the craft.

I'm a F2P and I haven't had a lot of chance to play Arena due to time constraint, just doing daily quest already take up much of my hearthstone time.
My goal in crafting is actually to have a competitive deck to be able to climb to rank 10, and may be with luck and time, get to rank 5 one day too, just to have the most dust reward possible each month.
I do want to have a big collection since I'm a collectionist, I don't even dust the duplicate golden of the normal ones.  I realize that with my time I won't be able to complete any expansion cards.  The classic cards, probably, as long as I still play for the next few years.

"Eventually" can be a long wait if RNG doesn't smile upon you. In general, you shouldn't craft those rarities. But if you need 1 card for a deck you're using constantly then it's fine to "waste" the dust to improve the performance of a deck. Long term a card or two won't kill you, but it's not something you should get in the habit of doing.

Save for epics & legendaries unless you're 1 card short or something, imo.

If you are missing a key common or rare, I say go ahead and craft it.

     Thanks guys,
Except that I don't miss just one card, I miss like a bunch of them.  For example, I kinda want to craft Midrange Hunter decks and I miss:
    2xJewelled Macaw
    1xCrackling Razormaw
    1xScavenging Hyena
    1xKnife Juggler
    2xSavanagh Highmane
Those are like 4 commons and 3 rares for a deck, not including epic: Rat Packs that I don't have.  I heard this is only tier 2 or 3 now in the ladder too, so should I commit dust to craft all those to play this deck? Or wait from open packs?
    Quote from TwentyOneBeers >>

If you need rares craft them, i started after BRM went live and up to this day i never opened a Knife Juggler or a Secretkeeper. But only craft the most OP ones :)

e.g. Savannah Highmane yes, Stampeding Kodo no.

Also i usually find that instead of crafting a cool but niche legendary you are much better with crafting two pairs of really good epics.

Sadly I opened Stampeding Kodo but not Savannah Highmane yet.

posted a message on Open packs or craft specific common and rare cards?

So I have heard to not craft "common" and "rare" cards as those I can open packs eventually, only spend dust to craft "epic" and "legendary".

This is the dillema for me since I feel that all the common and rare cards I really want keep eluding me from the packs.

I have only accumulated 1300 dust so far, I'm stuck between to keep saving to get a legendary or to spend now on those common and rare I like?

What are you guys' rules of thumb on how to spend dust, when to craft?
