The reason Jade Druid deserved nerfs, rather than say, ramp druid, which sadly got hit as well, is that the mechanic was life suckingly terrible to play against. Playing against rakazakus priest is pretty fun, so no nerf is needed there. If any priest deck needs nerfing it is big priest, and it has nothing to do with winrates, as percentage wise, highlander priest is superior - It isn't so blatantly unfair and soul crushing for the opponent as big priest and it's turn 4/turn 5 BS. Hearthstone is supposed to be fun for both players in a match.

Hmm no... I find playing against Highlander Priest to be a horrible experience... At least against Big Priest you know on turn 4 whether or not RNG screwed you over, against Razakus it takes 10 minutes and then you get machine gunned to death just cause you dared to play a slower Deck and they drew DK and Raza.... That being said,it's basically impossible for a Deck to consistently have 70% winrate and as much as I hate this meta and would love to see Raza/DK interaction changed I don't think Priest is really in need of nerf,at least in Standard,in Wild it's utterly broken and things will only get worse over time if they keep releasing ridiculous cards to balance their crappy Classic set....To me this is like saying "I liked playing pirate warrior more cause they win or lose turn 4, atleast I don't have to play a long game and lose anyway" - but the point is, you don't 'lose anyway'. Yes the deck is strong, yes it relies heavily on finding raza early. can you still win if they do? Yes. I just beat a rogue right now, who had Keleseth and shadowstep in opener. He highrolled and still lost...it happens. I have more opportunities to win game (hell, even just play the game)against this rogue, than I would against a pirate warrior who set me 12 health turn 4, then 5 he plays arcanite reaper. Big priest is the same, and it really really sucks to play against - it's not even fun to beat them, as they just play nothing and die becasue tehy didn't draw their 'cheat' cards, there is no middle ground. -

Free weapons for everyone! If you really heavily desire that occasional extra burst from a fresh weapon, this overly enthusiastic lad has got you covered with his endless, fast and unconditional supply of sharp blades.
And unconditional it is! You better not get too attached to your favourite weapon as it might likely be ripped from your hand and replaced with another in just the blink of an eye. -

mungo2613 posted a message on Is the matchmaking system really random, or rigged?Posted in: General DiscussionIt would take more than a few hours to test the hypothesis that Huffer appears more from Animal Companion at different times of the month. You'd have to gather data at various time periods in the month and test whether the distribution changes from 1/3 chance.
Disguised Toast already did a video looking into claims about Huffer appearing more often than the other 2, this was debunked (300000 instances of Animal Companion being played were analysed).
Disguised Toast knows what he is talking about anyway, like me he has a degree in mathematics.

Horkinger posted a message on Is the matchmaking system really random, or rigged?Posted in: General DiscussionEspecially after this info on Activision's patent, i think people are really naive to believe that a billion dollar company striving to maximize profit use only MMR for matchmaking. Sure, i have no evidence, but i have common sense, such big companies are no goody two shoes and BB is there like a storefront mascot to hide the ugly cogs of billion dollar machinery (something like ronald mcdonald, happy clown mascot for a company that sells shit food and hires workers for 15$ hour wage). Everyone thinking i should wear a tinfoil hat, grow up.
You shouldn't wear one, you should take yours off. The patent is no proof and even no indication that Blizzard is using that in matchmaking. In fact, I read the claims and it is simply not applicable to hearthstone in a sensible way.Firstly, it would counter the other claim made in this thread by you tinfoilers that they rig the matchups to achieve a 50% winrate, secondly because in hearthstone the alleged effect (which could be true, but could also be amateur psychology of a programmer or a game designer) the patent has is automatically carried out if people play this game. In heartstone the only "items" you have are cards. The more you play and win, the more different cards you meet. There is no reason to match a beginning player 100 times in a row against a Patches the Pirate he doesn't have because he gets fed up with this game because he loses too much (you remember 50% wr?). And if you think meeting them less times is enough, then rigging is superfluous because they will meet these strong cards anyway often enough (just look at this forum how many people complain about the strong cards).Additionally, such a system would be detected and would be used to influence the matchups by the players. If I have an increased chance to meet pirates if I don't own them, then I disenchant all my pirates and build an anti pirate deck. Sure, casual pklayers don't want to de their good cards, but for a pro it could be worth it (I myself have 5000 dust accumulated since before Un'goro, so people playing this game for a living easily can afford such actions if they pay out for their ranking).Really, you guys have no idea what the use and the purpose of a patent is. You don't need a patent to rig matchmaking, but you are the only one who is allowed to do so if you have one. And having a patent about matchmaking doesn't make it more likely to use it if it doesn't fit the game. And that is the point. That Activision owns a patent means nothing whether they rig games in hearthstone or not. Patent or not, they will rig games if it is worth it (what I doubt) and they wont, if it is not worth it. Simple as that and absolutely independent from a patent. And looking at the anger the rigging fraction has because they lost a couple of games, it doesn't seem to work, does it? - To post a comment, please login or register a new account.

Dunno if anyone remembers me; haven't posted in a while. Had stuff going on in my life. xP
My favorite thing about Warlock is risk vs reward and highrolling, and this fits in well with that. I doubt it could push an archetype on its own but it would be a powerful fit in certain decks, ones that don't care about health and might want to buff minions. A minion-centric control deck would be an obvious pick, but there's also potential applications as a second (kind of) Keleseth.
Dunno what you guys think but I'm mostly happy with the design, just not sure about the cost. Keleseth's effect is a lot weaker and only costs 2, but you get a minion and the drawback is a lot milder I feel. The drawback here is potentially huge, so I'm both worried 4 would be too much but also that 2 would be too little. So I went for 3. Any thoughts? Feel free to point me to your card and I'll do what I can to return the favor. xP
^^^^ Definitely this one. Only thing about it is this supposed to only affect ones on-board? Just making sure because that's how it reads. I would argue you could justify this at 3 mana. Attack buffs are usually weaker than health buffs (even though they're exactly what aggro decks want), and textless minions -- literally not even keyword abilities -- are by and large complete garbage. To even consider running them the support cards would have to kick ass, and I'm not sure Silver Hand Recruits will be enough except in a few situations that wouldn't be consistent. At 3 mana even, this might not be played, so you could consider 2, although 3 is probably the best bet considering how much this could spin out of control. I think at 4 it would be unplayable.

If winrates were weighted in the way you're suggesting -- where your success is actively damaged by weighting -- it would be next to impossible for professional players or even just high-ranked players to rise above others. Literally... the existence of players who succeed over others disproves the idea of skewed ranking... unless you think Blizzard is favoring pros... but how would they have even become pros then?
Incidentally there are hoards of logical reasons for bad luck in ladder. Constantly matching against a powerful deck would make sense since those are usually popular, and as people have complained about in identical other threads, sure sometimes you try to pick a deck that counters it and get matched against counters to THAT... but that's how that works too; everyone is trying to counter what each other are playing, which is always a rat race where one deck replaces another constantly.
If you are unable to rise in winrate or in ranking (one or the other must rise), then you are not improving as a player. Blaming statistics with alternate explanations instead of blaming the only consistent factor in your games (you) and improving your play is not going to help you win games.

You should craft any card you like, unless your priority is to simply win, and in that case you should follow whatever professional players are doing.
The expansion just came out. No one on this forum (including me) really knows for sure what cards are good or bad, and honestly even pros are going to take a little time to work it out. Any advice you get is only opinion.
