I've got a demanding job And two kids, so only a little time for hobbies like hearthstone. Heroes of the storm looks intriguing, but was wondering what any of you with beta access think of it. Is it worth getting into? Sorry for the typo in the title!
Unless you're just DYING to get into it now, you may as well wait imo.
What you get isn't that good of a value imo. You get three cheap-ish heroes, three skins, and a mount. Also enough gold to buy a cheap hero, but that's about it.
Have you played any other similar games (e.g. LoL, DOTA, Smite, etc.) ..?
Personally, I don't enjoy that game style, so despite having gotten an alpha invite to Heroes, I only played for half an hour and that was enough to confirm that it was not for me. Apologies to anyone who wishes they got an invite but didn't.
I've had access since the technical alpha and I would say it's really not worth it. If you enjoy that style of game, league is infinitely better in my opinion
I received an invite to alpha and found it pretty unexceptional. Granted I don't like Mobas, but I don't see what Heros brings to the table that more established games like LoL, HoN, or Dota don't.
I think that HotS is a step in the right direction. Team-wide exp means that you cannot have a single hero pulling the entire team down and you rise and fall as a team. Egomaniacs from Dota and LoL are going to hate this game because nobody can solo the enemy team. Objectives form a huge part of the game, generating fights and ending games quickly.
Prices are stupid and expensive, and someone calculated you get at most a hero a month on F2P. I play both Hearthstone and Hots, but I prefer Hearthstone because the connection isn't very stable for me in Hots.

Mechs will not be nerfed until the next expansion. Calling it because you need to keep the wallets happy too.
it depends, i really hate the snowball mechanics mobas offer (Particularly LOL and HON), i feel that if you need an extra help for winning then you actually don't have enough skill for winning in the first place and if you are already capable of winning then you don't need the game to spoon feed you, while some people argue "but that's the fun part" when in reality that's the worst part for a game's health and heroes of the storm reduces that part dramatically.
HOTS will be free, so just try it. It's a game designed to be easily accessible and fun for casual gamers while offering some amount of complexity for people who want to be "hardcore" about it. Personally I don't like the game, it's been boring and completely unrewarding to play for me. I played dota, dota2 and league of legends. Those games also got boring to me once I figured out how to not be bad at them anymore. I like starcraft 2, but it's an extremely difficult and complex game so it's not too popular. HOTS will definitely be popular and should be fun for people who don't have a lot of time to play..... until the community becomes like League and dota and shuns and degrades anybody who isn't up to a certain level of skill. Maybe you are better off just playing HS if you won't have the time to maintain and improve a certain amount of skill.
I also found it lacking in the excitement department. There were some cool effects and objectives to fight over but nothing you did really felt important. I guess it goes back to what others said, it's less about individual skill, and more about team cohesion (and not in a good way either). I would much rather play LoL, Smite or Dota at least there if you were on a roll if feels extremely good to snowball 18/3 with Riven. Maybe once all the finishing touches are on it might be better, or I might learn to like it a bit more.
All in all, Blizz hopped onto the MOBA bandwagon way too late. They should have years ago.

I enjoy it but agree with the comments about it not being so individual-skill based. I stopped playing LoL because of the focus it required. I have a family and such, so yeah...I was a liability. Now, that doesn't mean I can just go afk in this, of course not.
Currently the Gold/Game related to Hero prices is about 10x more expensive than LoL, and starting out LoL was even cheaper so no excuses. Unless you intend to spend tons of money or devote you life to the game, you will never attain the 10 heroes required to play Ranked. Or at least it will take 2+ years to get there. I have no idea what they are thinking with the pricing. There are already well established MOBAS, they will have no chance of drawing people from the other games if it takes 400-600 games to get a hero, which is the ACTUAL amount of games it will take to get the Heroes. `60 Games to get the most expensive Champs in LoL, It is literally about 10x the amount of games required.
I know some people that it took many weeks or months to get lv30 and 16 champs to play ranked in LoL. With this system taking literally 10x the games to get the same things, many people will literally be looking at 2-3 years of playing before they can even try ranked. BLIZZ has LOST IT. PURE INSANITY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If you can get a beta invite, like me, then it is a fun game. The graphics are nice. The characters are varied and interesting. The maps are diverse.
I've never gotten into MOBA's before as I didn't like the last hit mechanic when I tried it in DOTA2. When I heard Blizz was taking that out, they had my interest. I've been playing for about two weeks now and find the game fun.
Yeah, the shop prices are high, but you don't have to buy anything with real money. The 5 hero rotation is enough to keep me busy and I've earned more than enough gold playing the game to unlock my favorite heroes so far.
Try it when you can, but I wouldn't pay for access.
I played DotA, Lol and Dota 2. I tried HoN for a few seconds and instantly quit it because is a copy of DotA. Lol copied things but not all, at least. Well, i love this game because its different, and i really hated items, even though i was adapted to them and liked the games so Hots fits me. If you want to try a Moba that is not a copy of DotA, this is Huge example of it. But the most important thing is: No snowball and short-duration games. other mobas games are about 30-45 mins, even 60; this is one 20 mins or less. Once i played a single game for 27 mins but thats an exception.
About the hero prices, im F2P and I see them fine. You dont want to have all heroes in 6 months, and a lot of good heroes cost 2k-4k. 10k doesnt mean good. And there is daily quest like in Hearthstone and they boost hugely your gold.*
Note:I havent played Smite, so the commentaries about "other mobas" i dont know if apply. and sorry for bad english.
*Edit:There is also a free-hero rotation, and if you level heroes to lvl 5 you get 500 gold.

I personally haven't ever liked it, and would opt for pretty much any other genre blizzard makes first.
"I'LL FIX YOU!!!"

I really like playing Heroes but it´s not that much fun as playing Hearthstone. It really depends on which game style you like most.

Hero prices, skins etc. are insane. Not worth it in my opinion. If you want to play a moba like game I would either look at Dota 2 or Smite.
Moved to Other Games.
Also, I received an invite to the HotS alpha a while ago. I did not enjoy it at all. I would much rather play LoL or Dota 2.
I hated it.
Its too easy, little interactions and overall bad design.
but once again, I like Dota and no moba will ever have as many interactions or take as much skill as dota.

Now Overwatch, that's going to be a great game...

i have yet to play it, but in all honesty if its a clone of LoL with blizz Characters i will be estatic.
