I just realized why Zoo is so powerful: all the netdeckers don't put silence in their decks. The New Zoo's Nerubian Eggs are a pain in the butt to remove without them. It's quite hilarious when I put down a Void Terror with an egg or Sylvanas on the board, nobody expects Void Terror -> Sylvanas and it works much better than Power Overwhelming -> Sylvanas.

Let's be honest, Naxx is not budget friendly. The point of the deck is rendered meaningless if you are asking players to grind for months without opening packs in order to get that. This is a very standard combo druid with very little innovation, so I don't really know what's new here.

My deck is actually doing pretty well on ladder with a 60% winrate. Though my deck tracker seems to think I am playing Zoo every other game for some reason. Having a decklist on the left side of my screen really helped me, some decks become really easy to pin down when I know exactly what is in a deck. E.g Hunter coin out Mad Scientist on T1? Facehunter w/ no 1 drop in opening, probably Unleash and Eaglehorn Bow. Usually I'm right and save my Implosions.

posted a message on Why is Maexxna bad?

Maexnna is Sylvannas for poor people. They both make people think twice before putting down their next minion or play around it. With the exception of priest, Maexnna's 8 health is harder to remove. The only reason she isn't played is because stealing is better than destroying a minion.

No, that's because you have bad logic and you should be ashamed. At first you say:

    > The truth is giving players more choices doesn't close the gap. It widens it.

    > The crippling disadvantage is because Blizzard need people to buy their product.

    > BrM expansion is already a very big leap in bridging the new players' gap

Premise: Giving a player more choice doesn't close the power gap.

Assumption 1: BrM closes the power gap.

Assumption 2: BrM gives players more choices.

Which one is it? Does giving a player more choices bridge a gap? Or does it not? Are you ready to just admit you are wrong on this subject? Quite frankly the basic set minions are very straightforward, if you are insistent on new players wanting to play Magma Ranger, then please show the proof. Where are all the new people using Magma Ragers? They don't exist. Bigger and better does not take months of analysis to decide.

Your own example of a pinged Magma Ranger as  a positive part of the learning curve is unrealistic. I do not think it take multiple games to figure out that Magma Ranger is bad.

That you have to be punished before you learn that your cards are bad and you should spend money is exactly the thing that is uninviting to new players.

Remember, you are the one who is trying to tell me that multiple choices are bad, I am the one trying to tell people that having more choices is good, and does not overly complicate things. The original advocate was for more options for a control style, which is not possible in the basic set, where the absolute maximum is either War Golem or Boulderfist Ogre. You are wrong on the subject and do not wish to admit it.

    No, you're wrong.

In fact, the premise that it will be harder to answer multiple choice questions is an asinine argument. What is bad remains bad, and what is good will remain good unless something drastic changes. First of all, basic has been around for a long time, and most basic-only decks default to the best tempo/mid-rangeish minions you see over and over again in deck construction. What is bad remains bad, Molten Rager will be bad until someone finds a viable way of using it. Chillwind Yeti and Boulderfist Ogre will always be the top tier in the basic set. What multiple choice question do you have to answer? Also, according to your logic, new players would not buy packs because they would then be "confused by the multiple choice question". Absolutely asinine.

For a new player one of the most crippling disadvantages with the basic set is that there are no cards that really force a win. That's why you see Boulderfist Ogre touted as a substitute for just about every legendary. With the possible exception of druid with Savage Roar and a board, or Mage with basic spells, there are no real hard win conditions that change the board in the basic set with the same power as SotF/Savage Roar or just dropping a Ragnaros. Take it outside the basic set and you will see that there are very large gaps in deck construction.

posted a message on New Player Alienation & a Fix

I started an account on another server and I do feel the pain of grinding out cards again. Going the arena route is NOT a viable way of getting gold, since you are more likely than not to only break even and not afford any adventure wings unless you are in the top 10% of players. It also limits you to GvG packs. New players have to make a difficult choice to either save up gold and buy the adventures for a power boost, which is useless without some commons and standard supporting cards from packs, or buy packs, and lack out on the power than adventures give.

I know that the deck I made with the cards I have on hand will not allow me to beat most top tier decks, so optimally a new player has to have infinite patience to save gold and get wings AND packs, or live with subpar decks for a few months, losing to any standard deck until they can get a decent collection.

I am quite fortunate that I pulled a golden legendary and crafted Dr. Boom, putting any deck I craft leagues ahead of any new player, and it shows at the rank 20 level, but knowing that beyond that is an impossible task to beat (and worthless unless I get to legendary). I have the foreknowledge that my deck is inferior, but most new players don't, so they keep ranking up until they hit a solid wall of popular decks that are infinitely more well-tuned than theirs, so they get farmed for stars.
