So, now that we all have access to the open beta of LoR, what do you think of the game so far ?
I have to admit that this is better than I was expecting.
The game is very similar to HS, in the aesthetic but also in the gameplay. It's as easy to play as HS, but yet a bit deeper cause of the counter-reacting turn, where you can play while it's your opponent turn to attack. Being a wild control player on HS, I was often frustrated by the game that was alteady over on turn 4 against ultra fast aggro. Games on LoR look so much different and more interesting I think.
Even the economy seems better with all the crates and wildcard instead of the random boosters.
It's just the beginning of the game, but I really find it refreshing and it is a good alternative to HS, for those like me who still like this game but need a bit of new content...
I really advise those who haven't tried it yet to do so !
I think it's really smartly designed. It takes a lot of the good aspects from other card games and combines them into a nice f2p friendly bundle. One thing that really struck me was the draft mode. Normally in card games draft decks are all very similar. Everyone's just trying to curve out. Everyone's playing the same thing, and that thing isn't very complicated, which makes matches kind of 1 dimensional. I know a lot of people like it, but it's just never appealed to me. But in LoR, the drafts act like Dungeon Run, where you're offered different synergistic buckets. I've drafted 2 decks and both times I got something interesting and unique to what my opponent was playing.
As someone who refuses to spend money on these games and doesn't like typical draft modes, having this version, where I can play something that suits my tastes until I get a collection built up, is really nice.
Having a blast! Haven't touched HS since. Tomorrow I will play for the new wings but I will keep playing LoR unless HS fix its shit economy. Its very f2p friendly, 3 days and I already have 2 meta decks and going for my 3rd. Nothing to complain, game is addictive and well designed. My respects, Riot.
agree a lot...economy is fair and art is way better and immersive than childishstone. There are no disney minions except for the poros that are part of the League of legends original content in ARAM. U can click on the card and watch entire art; in HS u can only look a tiny picture in a oval frame and most of the pictures are in bad resolution or just blurry all the time.
I don't know, I don't see a future to this game anymore. LOR has so much to offer, and the cash limitation is even better. U may cash 200$ in coins but u can only buy a certain amount of "Wild Cards" each week (Max of 3 Champion cards 6 Epics and so on). That's one way to prevent cashers from being overpowered oppressing f2p with mom's money. Nice game 9/10
I think it's the perfect combination between HS and Magic The Gathering.
The gameplay is so fresh and the f2p aspect of the game is so good and it's about damn time for a card game that is really free.
Hearthstone is winning for now because I can play it on the go from my smartphone, but once LoR is fully release and the mobile version is live... I will quit hearthstone and say goodbye to the game for now and maybe forever.
I had a great time playing HS but for a while it is not fun as it used to be.
you can basically unlock the entire set just by playing the game. you have to play a LOT, but there are budged decks that are really strong.
games take longer than hs games. which is better, imo. i think riot can really earn the players trust if they release the full game like this. actually playing for rewards is so much better than grinding the same old boring decks every month, just to get some bs cards you don't need at the end of the month.
LOR is FUN. the last time hearthstone was fun was with the release of dungeon run back in 2017.
I really liked it at first, but then it started to get kinda boring... i know it has many advantages over HS, like much better economy, better graphics and stuff, but at the end of the day it felt like something was missing.
Although the counter turns looks refreshing i think thats what really put me off... the pacing of the game... everything just seems to be so slow and not as easy to play/straight forward like HS.
It looks very, very promising, i cant lie, it just didnt catch me like i expected. Maybe in the future i could change my opinion though. Anyways, i also encourage ppl to try it and make their own mind about it.
LoR is pretty good, it is certainly more interesting and more skill testing and than modern HS, which Discover has turned into an RNG fiesta. Since the latest Adventure turned out to be trash, I am mainly playing LoR and MtG currently.
I love it. I hardly played HS after Beta went live. HS gives me so many frustrations. Last Sunday played a few games of HS for the quest, and got #$#%$ by RNG and childish emoting. Removed HS from phone and IPad and have not looked back yet. Can't wait for LOR to be launched on Mobile devises as well.
After being tired of Hearthstone and MTGA's greed, i thought i was done with card games. Thankfully this game came and blowed me away with insane graphics, lore (it's fun the interaction between the cards you play), the gameplay and how good the f2p economy of this game is. After 1 month of f2p, i have at least 50% of the cards in ALL rarities.
Definitely going to main this game for a long time, can't wait for the mobile release later this year.

it's got some sorts of counterplay, so yeah pretty good
sick and tired of playing solitairestone anyway, so it really kept in coming handy the last few weeks
it really sits in the middle of hs and mtg, which is pretty cool, too. still prefer mtg a little bit

I REALLY LOVED THIS GAME!!!

i love this beta and i can't stop playing!!!
Disappointed.
I took a leave on the first day Open Beta only to find out(after downloading the client) that it's not available in my region.
I really liked it at first, but then it started to get kinda boring... i know it has many advantages over HS, like much better economy, better graphics and stuff, but at the end of the day it felt like something was missing.

might be a dumb question but what exactly is LoR?
Jagu, what about a VPN ?
Legend of Runeterra, the new Riot card game, inspired by League of Legends characters.
