I was just wondering if anyone else has found that there isnt a midrange style deck worth a shit in Standard. Its Full aggro, Reno, with some unstoppable Jade druids. What do you do if you want to NOT play those decks and actually enjoy the fucking game a little bit? Im realy curious. Or, is Standard supposed to be like this? Maybe it is. If so, I can stay in wild but it'd be nice.
Has anyone used a midrange deck that has a win rate of higher than like 25%? If so, what is it?
im in the same boat as you lol i would rather play midrange and dare i say some kind of control besides reno lol BUT will it have a decent win rate? who knows.....ive been bouncing between both standard and wild as well as trying out arena that is become standard.
For the record jade druid is beatable you really have to keep them off balanced and keep them from getting to the 7+ range

I literally just made a post about this asking for the next sets not to be gimmick sets and people bitched and moaned saying they don't want to play curve stone. Well guess what, the reason why the meta sucks is because the only deck that is curve stone is shaman and the rest is garbage
Wait a second here. Dragon warrior? Yeah it's midrange but I haven't seen one in a loooooong time. Forget that. I agree that dragon priest is midrange and I've tried it. It's OK, not bad to play but tends to struggle against the extreme aggro or long winded Reno kazakus bull shit.
I hate to say it but Jade decks like shaman are NOT midrange at all. They play more like late game control decks with early removal, few minions and then they start pumping out the stupid 8/8, 9/9, 14/14, and so on. Besides, I wouldn't play as shaman if I was paid. Worst class ever and arguably the class over the last several metas that have caused the most grief in the history of HS. Sure, shaman decks play themselves for you for cheap, easy wins but that's not fun to me. Same for Jade Druid....they do very little for several turns and then start drawing cards and spamming fat jades out there. They heal up and have just enough removal to neutralize any midrange attack.
Maybe my issue is that there aren't any midrange decks for classes I like playing such as mage, hunter, and paladin. I tried a tempo mage deck I made that was weighted towards some late game but it just didn't work right. Tried a patron warrior too that was ineffective due to way too much easy removal via shaman, kazakus decks, etc.
and, what is so wrong with the concept of curvestone? Aren't you supposed to play cards that use the mana you have available? Sure, when there is only one card being played every turn that's boring but a good midrange deck usually has several options by turns 4 through 10. This is good and I don't see what the problem is. Are we supposed to not use our mana? I understand that everyone got sick of turn 4 automatic shredder back a while ago but that's not the case any longer. I dunno.

turn 4 shredder was annoying because all decks played it not 1 in 9 decks
I totally understand what you mean and honestly, I would love to have a deck like Secret Paladin be dominant again instead of these heavily draw and synergy dependend Jade/Pirate-decks, because at least you had some real powerplays and now have multiple options in terms of deckbuilding like the finja package. Shaman is the only class with enough powercards to make such a deck, but Overload and Jades hold them back. We just need more cards like Belcher who aren't random, but are able to have a real impact on the board unlike most cards we currently have.
Low impact cards is currently the problem for most decks. And then you have shaman who has insanely high impacting cards which makes the deck rule the meta
Tempo decks are not midrange! They are just outside the midrange staple. Dragon Priest as well as Dragon Warrior are both Tempo decks. The only midrange deck in the current meta is Midrange Jade Shaman and is far from being the best deck in the current meta. Just gets destroyed by Jade Druid and any faster deck than itself.
Can you explain your reasoning of the difference between "tempo" and "midrange"? I always thought a midrange deck was just a well curved deck that plays good tempo plays...but I'm curious to hear you elaborate.
dragon priest, jade druid and arguably renolock are all midrange
Renolock and jade druid are without a doubt control decks. Dragon priest is somewhere in between based on the individual list. They can go control with greedy brann + historian + drakon op value plays, but overall its more midrange.
Maaaaaayyybbee you could classify miracle rogue as midrange. It has lots of mid game minions but its more combo oriented than anything.
/edit: I guess I can kinda see your point about jade druid. Its very minion/board centric because that is how they build their giant army of 10/10s, but I would personally still call it a control deck

dragon warrior could be called a tempo deck, but i would consider it more aggro. dragon priest is certainly not a tempo deck. tempo decks aim to take the enemy out of the game by taking the board early and pushing their board advantage to the opponents face before the opponent can take back their board (usually with burst). oil rogue is a tempo deck, dragon priest is not.

Sure, so. In my opinion and as far as I'm informed the tempo decks tend to be very curve oriented. By doing so they try to take control of the board in the early stage of the game, and crush the opponent in the mid stage. While midrange decks take control in the mid stage of the game, so around turn 5. If Dragon Priest or Dragon Warrior do not have the advantage before turn 5 this basically means game over.
Tempo Mage used to be this so curve orientated deck and now it evolved into semi combo deck based on Flamewaker.
So yeah, for me, the goal of a Tempo Deck is to take control in the early stage of the game and then outvalue opponent in the later stage of the game, while the goal of a pure Midrange Deck is to take control in the mid-stage of the game and keep it until the late game.
This is why decks like Dragon Priest can't win against Reno Warlock because they get outvalued in the late stage of the game, where the goal is to basically end the game before we arrive to this point. So we could say that Tempo Deck is just a slightly faster Midrange Deck, but it's technically no longer a Midrange Deck because of the style of the play.
I hope I elaborated enough :D
So do you imply tempo decks are part of the aggro branch?

Ok that makes some sense. You see Tempo Decks as somewhere between aggro and midrange. I guess I've always thought the line between a tempo deck and a midrange deck was too blurry for me to notice much of a difference (in terms of optimal curving) but now perhaps I'll think a bit differently now. Thanks!

I win due to skill and lose due to bad RNG. :D

I think this is midrange, but it's hard to tell since meta is so fast. I have 60% with it, but look and say if you find this aggro or midrange.
Midrange Shaman is good right now. And I would also put Dragon Priest in the midrange camp. Dragon Priest has a lot good matchups right now.

Do or do not. There is no try.
Midrange Jade Shaman is Tier 1 on Tempo Storm

EDIT: Tier 2 this week, apologies
What? Please stop the BS.
Dragon Priest is a Midrange deck works very well, midrange shaman both jade and non jade works.
Dragon Priest is midrange
Jade shaman= midrange
Dragon priest= midrange
Fuck cubelock
LOL, is this thread a joke? Mid-range Shaman, Dragon Priest, Dragon Warrior... What the hell are you talking about OP???
Wow, just wow...
