Would be about #10,000 on my list of useful features to add, but I can't believe it would take much effort, and there's clearly a real population of extremely salty players that it would make happy, so I vote "yes", implement it!
This is the saltiest game i have ever played, you would think this would be a no brainer.
It's a feature players have been asking for.
We want the feature because other players abuse the Emote feature and it is abused more commonly than people make it out to be.
For me it's BMing. By allowing this Blizzard supports a passive/aggressive form of bullying. Sadly the community seems to support this child like behavior. This is likely due to this being a kid's game.
People get sick of it triggering them and just turn it off by default to cut off the salt flow.
If it doesn't bother you then why would a player care if this setting is added?
Imagine playing MTG across from some asshole saying "Wow" and "That was a mistake" over and over.
I fully support the option to disable the BM feature globally.
All these rank 15-25 players being salty and blaming Emotes because they can't climb LUL
P.S. Git gud.
Rank has nothing to do with this. Legend players squelch/BM all the time too. I love that this game has so many elitist douche bags too. Like getting ranks in this game is hard or something. (hint all you need is time, BOTS get legend in this game)
I would like to see how much support the Hearthstone community would have towards Blizzard enabling an auto-squelch function.
Personally speaking, my least favourite aspect of Hearthstone is having to interact/listen to you assholes. I believe I would rather shave off a homeless man's beard and use it as my own personal loofah than listen to the majority of you and while I try not to get so irritated I can't help but get tilted every time some smegma-toothpaste using mouthbreather says "thank you" right before they use an AoE to clear the board or "well played" when I played 2 cards in a 6-turn game due to my terrible card draw. I didn't "play well" if I didn't play at all, nerdlinger. I didn't set myself up for a board clear just to make you socks roll up and down.
Now I could just squelch every person I ever play, and some days I do, but that gets tiresome when Blizzard could make a simple update where players could just toggle the squelch function on and off in the options section so that you can concentrate on getting salty at *other* aspects of the game, like RNG or not being as good at the game as you think you are.
So, what do you guys think? Auto-squelch good idea or bad idea? Also if it turns out this is a popular suggestion and someone proposes it to Blizzard, they might want to clean up the language a bit.
P.S. I hate you all
There's like a thread every month on this on here, reddit and battle.net. 30 seconds with Google would have given you your answer. Brode has responded to this suggestion 18 months ago...

3 times as much people annoyed by squelching a couple thousand times versus people afraid nobody will listen to their stupid ThankYous and WellMets. This feature should've been implemented a long time ago.
Why do you have to bm so much? If you don't want to talk to people or answer when they talk to you, sure, go ahead, but you should be aware that it's childish, grumpy and rude.
No. Then how am I supposed to BM people before I kill them? This would ruin the game experience.
Yup Blizz supports bullying, way to go internet tough guy.
*sigh* Even I can see that he is being sarcastic.
Myself, I don't mind spending 1 second squelching someone if they start to get annoying. I automatically Greet every opponent out of habit and sometimes the Emotes make the game more enjoyable. Sometimes.
I'm not being completely sarcastic actually. I actually think people on this game need to stop being so precious about BMing. It's only a game, and just because your opponent has a playful go at you doesn't mean you need to be all upset about it. Do you honestly do the same thing when you are playing FIFA(or any other game) with your friends IRL and someone scores a goal and makes it a point to rub it in your face? Or do you just move on and suck it up? The fact I'm actually being accused of being a "bully"(which by the way, is a term most of you don't know jack or shit about, unless you were the victim of it in the past) for one joke comment just goes to show what the attitude of people is for this game. I personally believe that it's all a part of the fun that hearthstone provides.
There might be people who purposefully BM their opponents with the intent to offend them, but I don't think that's even close to being the majority of the player base.
Anyway, in all seriousness I'm fine with them adding an auto squelch function. While I wouldn't use it myself, people who dislike emotes would be free to play the game without them.
Dear God is it really that hard to squelch every opponent? "Oh no I need to click twice."
Or, here's an idea, mute your dam computer. Now you don't have to listen to the emotes every game because it's just muted. You'll still see them, but maybe you could slap a piece of tape over where it would appear. Would that please you? Or is that manuel labor just as bad as having to click twice on each opponent?

Just squelch them turn 1, how fucking lazy do you have to be?
I've started squelching everyone Turn 1 in Ranked, I don't mind BM and just having fun with emotes in other modes.
Auto-Squelch would be nice, but I would miss that little interactivity we have if I forgot to turn it back On one day.
Too complicated for people to use, we just learned how to use more deck slots.
an auto-squelch option would be nice.
"Your opponent squelched you" notification would be better.
