Mage has always been the king of arena, and now mage has become the dominate force in constructed as well which has made the game very boring and repetitive at the moment. Go to constructed half the classes you play are mage, go into arena half the classes you play are mage. The fact that the arena meta and constructed meta were so different was a refreshing aspect of the game, now that is gone. 3 mage cards added in GvG have made it very difficult for any class to keep up with the variety and power that mage brings to the table in both constructed and arena.
1. Goblin Blastmage - 4 mana for 4 damage on your opponents board plus a solid body at 5/4. This would be ok if a 4 drop was not able to take out 1, 2 and 3 drops upon entering the board and then follow by trading up with the most popular 4 and 5 drops. As a 4 drop its fine that i scan trade with most 4 drops, but the added ability to trade with the 3 most popular 5 drops in the game makes this card broken. Azure Drake, Loatheb, and SludgeBelcher can all be easily taken out by the blast mage. Even the some of the more popular 6 drops like Sylvanas and The Black Knight are taken out by this guy. He is just to strong as a 4 drop. His ability to trade up with all of these minions wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't for the 4 damage and low cost. In all honesty he should be a 5 or 6 drop.
2. Unstable portal - yes its random but for 2 mana you get 3 mana off of a card which is ridiculous. A 3 or a 4 drop on turn 2 or a 6 or 7 drop on turn 3 is broken especially when your only investing 2 mana into it. That's not even taking into account that come turn 3 if you have a free board flood, which is totally worth spending the turn since most classes cannot deal with two 3 drops on turn 3 anyways. should cost 3 mana so that more classes can actually compete with the extra higher cost minion so early in the game.
3. Snowchugger - now this one is debatable if you consider the nerf of the other 2. The man reason why this one is bad is because at 3 health very few classes can deal with this on turn 2. (setting aside mage of course) Because of this it also hinders 4 classes that rely on weapons or attacking to get the job done like Rogue, Paladin, Druid, and Warrior. Combine the other 2 cards mentioned, then the ability to stop 4 of the best control classes in the game from using there board clear to help trade up with the minions mage gas placed on the board makes this card to powerful. Just give it 2 health so that some classes can actually beat this thing without falling way behind on board control.
The fact is mage is to powerful right now dominating in both main areas of the game. It would be refreshing to see a nerf so the game would have more variety.
I don't agree that any of these are op. They're all over good, and they make a very effective deck, but if we start aiming the nerf bat at every well syngergized combo of cards this game is going to turn into oatmeal very fast. The game needs cards that work together. It's not like the blastmage just murders everything. It's just four damage. UP is good, and makes for a lot of good luck kills, but read the threads on it. It churns out horseshit just as often. Snowchugger is way to weak and easy to kill to be OP. Good =/= OP. Stahp it.
Funny you feel this way OP, because I don't play mage but I am sure they feel exactly the same about my hunter & paladin when they are getting raped by me because its such an unfair match up for them. It's a double edged sword OP.
I wish people would stop crying about mech mages and just learn to clear the board by turn 4 and your problems are solved ( lol @ goblin fail mage, he sure is a cute & harmless lil guy ). As far as unstable portal goes, no matter wat comes thru that portal, drop a hunters mark on that creature and say " good bye lil fella ".
Learn to play the game people, stop making such greedy decks that you cannot even fit a life saving card such as hunters mark, equality, assassinate or any other hard removal card in your deck just so can have that extra leg in your deck which is most likely useless anyhow.
Just imagine if any other class could get a 3/4 minion that does 4 damage split randomly if you control a mech and all of this costing 4... Yeah it would be great! But Mage gets a 5/4 minion...
Unstable portal: Seems ok to me. Yeah Mages can pull some big/awesome minions out of it from time to time, but they also get some really crap ones.
Chugger: He is ok, you don't need a lot to be able to smash him.

English is not my native language, sorry for any mistakes but also deal with it.
I'll agree with you on Unstable Portal. The majority of the times I've seen it played, it gets a legendary. Most recently this happened in a game where the mage got Edwin VanCleef from Unstable Portal. Needless to say, he was able to combo a bunch of cards and play Vancleef for 0 mana. This card is pretty broken, the chance of getting a legendary needs to be lowered to maybe 5%.
Blastmage is very good, yeah. Not OP tho. His battlecry is strong, but his body is not. There is a reason why Plainstriders aren't picked over Yetis, and the reason is that 4 health is squishy as hell. Also, a battlecry that is on full random mode (on a card that is supposed to be reactive to the opponents board) doesn't scream "nerf" to me.
Unstable portal is only "OP" this one time it actually does something cool. It's a nice tempo play, yeah, but still causes you to draw unnecessary cards that just stick to your hand for the whole game a lot. Saying that Unstable Portal is OP because it can make let you turn 3 Mogor the Ogre is like saying that Madder Bomber is OP because it kills the enemies Troggzor and leaves a 5/4 body on the field.
Snowchugger is not a brilliant card, I'm not even sure why would it be considered OP. Yes, it stops a lot of classes (Warriors), but 2/3 with no direct impact on the board usually just dies to something, be it Darkbomb, Wrath or Frostbolt - or just trades with another 2 drop. If a mechmage had to choose a creature to fill 2 mana slot, he would choose mechwarper.
None of those cards screams "nerf" like Undertaker did. If a nerf is not absolutely necessary (Undertaker was a single card that twisted the whole meta) it's better to leave things be.
Blastmage gets a bit of leeway because a.) it's a class card, and b.) it only works if you have a mech. But it could be reduced to 3 damage and it'd still be good.
The other two I think are strong but balanced. Portal actually isn't that random. It has a very good chance of giving you a good deal. The only really bad deals are 1 and 0 cost minions, and bad 2 drops. Getting anything that costs 3 or more gives you a 1 mana discount on that minion. So even if you get a bad minion, it's one mana less, often enough to make it good. 4 mana Nightblade aint bad. But the random selection pool stops it being overpowered.
And Snow Chugger is perfectly balanced. It's very strong against certain matchups, but merely decent against many others. In a lot of games the freeze has little effect.

If you don't think goblin blastmage is OP I want whatever you're smoking. Yeah I've tried mech mage decks like everybody else and whenever I play that blastmage I just feel bad for my opponent, play it 2 turns in a row and you win the game. Unstable Portal shouldn't give legendaries, it gives me a legendary about 40% of the time, and I've played so many games where both of them give me a powerful legendary. IMO It should be a random rare because the card is rare.
Blastmage is strong, but not op'd. I've played a MM and more often against a MM. It's really a nail in the coffin sort of card. It really only acts as a finisher if they already have board control. It's random sometimes does good and sometimes really sucks. Doesn't need nerfed from what I've seen of him.
The other two are completely fine. Unstable Portal is what Farsight could have been. Chugga is a mini-frost elemental with the same strengths (high HP, good stat for cost, good for early board control). Both are balanced just fine, and the portal is just freakin' fun.
EVERYONE knows BLASTMAGE is OP. it's 1 card deal with it. Atleast it's not an ut where u had to go out of ur way, bending over back just to kill it. Be glad aggro is on it's last string as mech Mage so u don't have to face much hunter crap. Also no aggro the meta will be awful. Just super control decks. And Druid wars like before nax.

All the mech mage players complaining that someone is complaining about their insane value cards. Get over yourselves. Blastmage is 100% OP. Maybe not as OP as pre-nerf UT, but it's still pretty much a guaranteed 2 for 1 with no real counterplay to prevent that.
I think the complain was over the fact there are always gonna be powerful cards for each class and people just need to deal with. I don't like blastmage either but really a nerf? Anytime blizzard makes a really good card, people get angry and demand Nerfs. It's kind of silly. Btw I'm playing Oil Rogue and control Mage ATM not mech Mage.

Yes I do up vote everyone who post in my threads as a thanx for taking the time to look at and comment on my post.
And now please visit one of 100 other "QQ nerf mage" threads. We do have enough of them already.
FFS, this is worse than all the hunter bitching pre-UT nerf.
Blastmage does get a ton of value if you play it with a mech on your field...This one is OP.
Unstable Portal is too random to be OP right now. If you get a low cost card off of it then you lose a good bit of tempo...not OP.
Snowchugger is very good, but it's pretty balanced with most of the other class-mech cards out right now, not OP but really good.
IMO.

this post almost made me vomit. but then i realized that it's to my benefit to have players with these misconceptions out there.
