There is any real reaso why the Devs keep holding Priest as the weakest control class in standard? Honestly i forget the last time we get an actual AoE speed that can dealt 3 damage before turn 5. Also in terms of value the class is holding the worse recovery package ever filled with tons of spells that recover a bunch of health but provide nothing else while other classes clearly can match Priest healing amount + AoE, Summon minons, etc...
Increase the amount of health via effects or armor? Nope, Strong inevitability in the form of permanent spells? Not really, the only 2 Value generators in the class are One very expensive infinite discovery effect and One cards that forces you into play spells every turn. It seems clear to me why no one is trying to promote slow priest deck anymore.
Priest has been pretty much shafted for the last few expansions. People rage about how anoying priest is to play against, and to some extent I agree. Getting killed by your own win condition feels a bit shit. You know what also feels shit?
Playing as a priest and not having a win condition of your own (aside from run the opponent out of resources).
Playing as priest and losing to every OTK deck because you have zero chance to win (Dirty Rat and Theotar are laughably bad at countering OTK).
Playing as priest and losing to Odin warrior because you have zero chance to win. "you have to pressure them down" with a class that has no pressure...(outside of shadow priest)
I seriously wonder why Priest didn't get an OTK win con (or indeed, any win con...). The last win con that priest got was the quest. A quest that was deeply unsatisfying to play with and against.

I get why people dont like some of the Priest playpatterns like really i get it but whenever i play against said Rogue or Mage for example, those classes play your deck, play multiple decks, never run out of value. Now with the last buff Rogue is literally Fast Thief Priest. They just generate any card in any moment. Its pure RNG but is fast, low cost. It really feels like you are playing against the better version of the deck in any aspect, even healing.
Im not a pro or a hardcore player these days. I sit in Diamond and thats where I belong. I can promise you that I haven't used Priest to climb the ladder in some time. I honestly can't remember the last time I have used Priest in any expansion for ladder climbing. I am very happy to have gained my 500 wins long ago when Priest was scary. If that was the case now who knows how long it would take. For me personally playing Priest is pointless. I believe every other class can achieve something decent in comparison.
Well i am not asking for control Priest always be a deck but there are other long-terms focus themes in Priest that are obviously not working at all because of how underpower mid-game tools are in the class. So is not about just control is a problem that goes beyond that deck and reach any other. Most priest cards suggest that the class is intended as a main focus Plan for late game. So i dont belive your answer is correct. Because Shadow priest is fun as its own theme but it is not a solution to the problem.

Oh i remember, i remember even when it was not a great class but Galakrond really keep it relevant in the meta. Good times. Them again i am not pretending that it was a lot of problems with cards that generate too much value in Priest, infinite hero powers and stuff like that. But honestly this days everyone (specially Druid, Mage and Rogue) have access to that kind of tools. So when i said that i dont get it i really mean it.
It seems funny to me that one of our best cards the past year was a legendary that makes you go -2 with a healing effect to clear the board (if you health enough) and right now we have cards on the same cost that also clear a board without investing any card that turn (so is just a -1 in your hand size).

Lightmaw Netherdrake I think. And I agree, it's annoying for priest to lack both any sort of inevitability and the means to deal with classes that do. It wouldn't be as bad if they committed to priest's passivity and reactive control style and printed something that countered "for the rest of the game" effects. Like if they made a card that said "Restart the game using both players current hands, decks, and life totals." Sure a lot of people would hate it, but those people hate control priest already.

I would love they give us other card to restart our life total and buff it. And i know how many people would hate it even when any class in the game right now can dealth like 3 times your base life total as damage in a 20 minutes match not joke. Also funny enough Priest is "the class of healing" yet is the only class without the ability of outlass +29 burst damage without Neutral cards.
I like the idea of "for the rest of the game, your hero takes double damage, but no more than 10 per turn."
Stops combo one shots at the cost of increased attrition damage from small sources, not to mention fatigue.
Or if you wanted something more broken, because let's face it: everything is either broken or trash these days, then "for the rest of the game, if your hero has full health at the end of your turn, deal 6 damage to it and give it immune until the start of your next turn."
Yeah, priest is in a bad place and has been for a while now. Shadow Priest worked for a while, but it died off. Now, even when I'm laddering, I pretty much always quit when I get matched with a priest. They're boring to play against and, even if I win, the game takes 20 minutes. (And, for the record, I PREFER control decks.) I'd rather take the loss and move on.
I miss the old days of Dragon Priest, when cards like Drakonid Operative was considered OP. Priest really lost its way when the devs started pushing stupid crap like Resurrect Priest, which just led the community to hate the class. I don't think it's ever recovered.
