I feel like some of the grief that come with the otks and turn 6 losses meta could be reduced by changing a handful of the cards to NOT be able to target your own minions. Otk DH beat me 9/10 cause cause he can use felscream blast on his own units to kill me. Quest mage can just target their own generated minions to advance quest. Warlock will kill his own minions to deal self dmg with spells. I don’t think it would 100% fix the crappy meta/expansion but I think it would help with some cases.
i dont think that would help much. In my opinion the main problem is that you dont have any board interaction or minion trading. And that used to be the core features of hearthstone. With that changes you still have no chance to play control because of the combo heavy decks with infinite damage.
I wonder why they printed cards like they do now bc a long time ago they nerfed all the combo and otk decks. They told us that they dont want to have combo or otk decks dominating the meta because thats unhealthy for the game. And here we now, all complaining by the fact that these archtypes are indeed unhealthy for the game. Just give us back the old hearthstone were you play your minions, think about trading and arent able to play 20 cards in one turn.
Btw. i was already worried when i saw decks without any minions or just very few (mage) coming up for the named reasons.
i agree it should not be a thing to kill your own stuff with your spells... unless the spell is made for it the spell like warrior that kill all your mobs and clear enemy at the same time is okay but clearing your own stuff with dmg spell should not work that way... it will nerf warlock it will nerf mage if there remove that
People like to think killing their own minions is some kind of big-brain play, so I doubt Blizzard would change it.
Even if they did change it, it wouldn't do much good for a minion-based deck. If you play minions, they use them to advance the quest. If you don't play minions, you can't possibly win.
I think the biggest help would be to make Robes of ProtectionTradeable. It can be one of the most impactful cards in this meta, but it weakens your deck against opponents that aren't spell-heavy, so sometimes you just do without it.

I understand that concern, but I think it would make room for decks with less early game minions but more 5-8 cost minions that can withstand a spell or two while they delay the quest reward and play higher value minions.
