I play Frenzy Menagerie Warrior. The deck rocks, but it's terrible against Priests, since they usually drag the game to fatigue.
I really want to craft C'thun, The Shattered. The card will fit amazingly in the deck because it helps ending the stalemate with Priest AND helps add more cards to deck so that it takes longer to reach fatigue. The C'thun parts also make for amazing control tools.
What do you think? Have you ever crafted a last year's legendary? If so, how do you feel? Is it worth it?
You get about 9 months worth of a legendary. That may be good or may be bad value depending on how much you use the card, your amount of dust and your general collection. It will also depend on your likelihood of playing wild or duels in the future.
I would argue though that if you play regularly and you really want the card you should craft it. But I won't promise it's the best use of your dust. And if you have a small collection and do not have enough dust to craft it, I would not do it
In my experience, C'Thun, the Shattered is never as good as you think it will be. It puts 4 situational cards into your deck, meaning you are less likely to draw the cards you actually need.
My thoughts are that unless you've got a deck built around him as a win condition (eg Celestial Druid), then he's usually not worth running. That's my opinion only, of course.
But then again, I am also in favour of crafting neutral legendaries, so if you have some interest in running the card, then why not? With the new ranked system and no duplicate rule, it doesn't take much time at all to save up the dust to craft a legendary card.
good priests will just illucia your cthun card anyway and disrupt that whole strategy so think of that as you will while crafting cthun for that deck
Also, personally ive been crafting a ton of standard legendaries ever since i switched from wild to standard, that includes cards from ashes of outland like kargath and bulwark, cards from scholomance like barov jandice and illucia, and from the darkmoon faire like all the old gods and ive been using all these cards in the decks i play and enjoying them so thats just my experience
Don't make yourself jump through hoops just to justify crafting a card/legendary ...
- If you like the card and want to play it, craft it.
- If you think a card is good and think it will help you win games, don't craft ... because it will disappoint, which for most people means regrets about crafting it "oh why did I craft X when I could have spent 1600 dust on Y?" C'Thun won't help you beat Preist.
I crafted Dollmaster Dorian because I like the effect ... haven't gotten around to making a wild deck with Secret Passage and Dorian yet, but I will ... anyway, it was great because it was a ton of fun. I put Dorian in all the decks I played with. Some of the best dust I ever spent, where most people probably don't even know the card exists.
The only neutral legendary that has been 100% worth a craft (in recent times) has been Zilliax and maybe The Lich King.
I would say ... anyone who needs to come to the forum here and ask if they should craft a specific card fits into category 2 because they are not looking for a fun experience in-game, but for validation of their ideas.
I've always crafted legendaries and played them post rotation if they had unique and interesting game changing effects (example Reno cards, The caverns below, Open the Waygate). However, you shouldn't craft bad cards if you are short on dust. Sure, Cthun is interesting and fun when you get it, but it's not a good card. The only deck it was good in was no-minion mage, and even from there it was removed because it made your draws worse. Adding it to your rush warrior to beat priest is not worth it, because it puts 4 bad cards in your deck, that have counter-synergy with the hand buffs, and also kill your tempo. So even if you sometimes manage to C'thun your priest opponent (which is not guaranteed to happen), you make all your other matchups worse. And the reason you don't always beat priest with it is that they can suck you dry of value. You simply need a high pressure topdeck to get back on board after a clear and you draw heart of cthun. They proceed to play big minions, buff them, or drop a game ending nzoth before you draw your 4 pieces.
So, if you can afford it, craft it for fun, but it's a pretty bad card.
If you want to craft it solely for the Priest matchup then I advise against it. It will not help, in fact the Priest will just copy your C'Thun or disrupt your ability to get the C'Thun.

I couldn't agree more.
