I have to say my recent experience is the same - I play wild mostly and when I get in for a few games I am reminded I f*cking hate this game when I see a big priest the first ranked game. Standard is too limited, after a few games you literally know the opponent's deck card by card, because everyone is playing the same decks, so yea... Kinda burned out atm.
The meta slaves on this forum will disagree with you and give you hate but I totally agree with you. I will never understand people that spam stuff like odd pally secret mage and odd rogue on ladder. Like, how is that fun? And screw “not having the emotional intelligence to understand people disliking deckbuilding etc” that’s complete bs. People that netdeck and say that dont have the general intelligence to build their own deck so they let someone do it for them and then post their legend picture or brag about their rank on Reddit like they accomplished something. And then they get so sensitive when people hate on netdecking like deckbuilding isn’t sort of the point of the game, and yet they cannot for the lives of themselves construct a deck even in a 3 card tavern brawl. Sad imo, they’ll never get to truly experience hearthstone at its greatest, Full of whacky combos and interactions. Let them be content with playing their sad deck a stranger constructed for them that lets them drag and click on a portrait every turn, we can have all the actual fun. Smd meta dependents lmao

This is like playing a pool tournament and complaining that your opponent is potting their balls whilst you are trying to slam trick shots.
If you want to dick around in Hearthstone you will probably have to play casual games with friends. Or get really, REALLY good to the point where you can make meme lists work to a reasonable degree (this is possible, just very hard in Hearthstone). But playing on ladder and expecting your opponents to play janky shit that the game clearly isn’t balanced to cater is mind numbingly stupid.
If you want to play ranked games with janky decks then you’re going to have to find another game which caters to it.
Making a deck and seeing how well it does against other decks, experimenting with different classes and archetypes, discovering a play style and cards that you enjoy is what makes TCG fun.
So what's the point in playing hearthstone then? I've been playing from open beta and every new meta I've tried to make my own decks, even if they were bad I tried to enjoy the building and experimenting part of the game to it's fullest. However, as more and more websites relating to HS sprouted and netdecking became more relevant, the huge aspect of experimenting and figuring stuff out on your own is completely dead. Playing against the exact same decks over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over... Just killed any point in me trying to make something.
Can someone please answer me - "Is it fun to just copy decks from a website?", "Is it fun not to put any thought in the cards that are in *your* deck?", "Is it fun to play the same exact deck for more than a couple of years?". It can't be, right? Well...
A good example is secret mage. Really wish they would stop printing cards that support the archetype. And if you say - "Well, uhm the deck changed over the years" or "There are stronger decks out there", then you are a moron. For how long secret mage remains as one of the most popular decks in wild? And as for the other part, the deck just replaced cards for better cards that do more or less the exact same thing. What's the difference between 1 card that can draw 4-6 cards and has a cost of 6 mana, and 2 secrets that cost 0 or 3 mana and can draw you 6 cards? The funny thing is people don't even know why secret mage doesn't run the weapon or the minion anymore. And again, for those of you that say that the secrets are just better - go back to netdecking. The answer is tempo, reliability, disruption, counterplay and symbiosis with other cards. Hope I don't need to digest and explain every part further, since this thread will become too long.
Now back to the main topic. I just can't imagine that someone actually finds it fun to copy a deck and then play only that one deck for more than a year. What's the point in playing then? Why not let someone else play the game or let the computer play for you as well, since you already undermine half of the game already.
I know this is salty and all. And everyone finds pleasure in different things. But I'm just really tired of playing and seeing more or less the exact same decks and loosing to the exact same stuff for years. Every time I play against a unique deck I stop caring about winning or loosing. I just try to figure out what their deck is and what are they trying to do with it. Nowadays, I'll be lucky to play against even 1 unique deck in a week. And the most hilarious part is, that people copy the strongest decks and play casual as well. The only thought that crosses my mind in such situations is what kind of clown am I playing against?
just dont play and stop making forum your trashcan.
I don't really enjoy Hearthstone anymore but I'm in too deep (since Beta) so I keep playing but I'm finding my stretches of time away from the game are growing.
There is no real variety and net-decking is pretty tedious (but basically necessary if you want to be competitive at all) so I don't find as much impetus to boot the game up as often. This is partly down to the fact that we just rotated a ton of cards out but it's more down to the philosophy of Team5 that I don't think has been good since Brode left the company.
I'm finding way more fun to be had in Final Fantasy XIV these days
This game is so trash, all i face is the same braindead mage or paladin net decks which require 0 skill, Blizzard dont give a damn about anything about money, instead of a balanced meta all we get is some overpriced shit bundle everytime we login

Most people are stupid and they will do anything to win. That answer pretty much all points You have raised. Only way to at least partially 'fix' it would be to destroy internet so they can't have an easy access to premade decks ;p
not my main account bud, been playing for years and this game is just going downhill every expansion i remember when all classes actually stood even a chance against these dumb archetypes...

Oh, a second account just to complain? Streets ahead, bud.
no i have a second account because i started to play again recently and because i'm f2p i can only afford to try out different decks this way, but i forgot only 2\3 classes are viable so there really isn't much point unless i copy a netdeck like everyone else, the powercreep means you have to pre order every expansion which just isn't worth the investment. seems like a money grab at this point...

That’s a terrible comparison, a better one would be playing pool and complaining that my opponent has a robotic arm that sinks every shot for him. Y’all go on the internet and literally copy/paste a deck that someone else built. Might as well have them play the game for you. And yes everybody pilots decks differently and has a learning curve on decks but, watch a few videos by the person that made the deck and hey, that problem is gone. Youre not playing the game, youre mimicking the play pattern of somebody you found on the internet. My previous post was half joking but my point is all the same, deckbuilding is part of the game, why are you playing a CCG/TCG otherwise? At the end of the day i know netdecking is part of the game and I’ll accept it, but that doesn’t mean the people who netdeck aren’t annoying and bad at the game because they cant even comprehend forming their own coherent combination of two cards. They just want to play the best deck and win even though it’s a boring ass deck and because they’re obsessed with getting high ranks for little incentive; at the cost of “fun” in quotes cuz it’s “subjective”. The amount of fun one achieves from playing secret mage and odd rogue is not subjective however. Ppl who read this will get sensitive lmao idgaf, stay keeping yourselves closed off to the entire other half of the game.

I don’t “go on the internet and literally copy/paste a deck that someone else built“, I play nothing other than homebrew meme decks. I can just recognise that the game isn’t designed around those decks being viable on ladder. Hence I went searching for other card games to find a one which is.
Why do ppl play WoW nowadays ? Why do ppl still grind LoL and rage ? Becouse we love great games or games that used to be great. I will never start Magic the gathering becouse it has different flavour, it will never get even close to themes of HS/WoW.
When u watch grandmasters how many OOWOOOW moments are there. Thx to the RNG there is so much more fun in game then your 'trying different valiable decks' in the gathering.
I've got to be honest: the swagger of self-declared "homebrewers" is off-putting, to say the least. And usually, when these people post their super-awesome, completely original deck, it amounts to a standard deck with 2-3 less common cards. Wow, how innovative. (Not saying you do this, OP, just that it's incredibly common.)
To answer your (presumably rhetorical) question about why play a netdeck, the obvious answer is "because I like the deck archetype and I'd like to master that deck (or type of deck)." I've been playing Reno decks since Reno came out, in just about every class. And they've changed quite a bit over the years. I'm by no stretch of the imagination a pro, but I think I understand the mindset and play style of Reno decks pretty well (although the more aggressive nature of Reno Hunter took some getting used to). So whenever a new expansion hits, I look at people who've designed a new Reno deck to see what they've come up with. I try a few of them out to see what works best. For me, that's fun: figuring out the new wrinkles of an old archetype. I don't play a lot of Secret Mage, but I imagine the reasoning is the same.
If you enjoy your Rager Shaman deck or your 7 card combo OTK deck, play it. But most people like to win and will, therefore, gravitate towards decks that have decent winrates. Just stop telling people how they're supposed to enjoy the game. It's incredibly arrogant.
So is telling people not to express their opinion.
Moral of the story is: The “I need to win games of Hearthstone by any means necessary” crowd, will never agree with or understand the “I play the game for fun & nothing more” crowd. It’s like this in every game. There are people who play the game for entertainment, people who treat it like they’re qualifying for the Olympics, & the rest are somewhere in between & probably never post on these forums.
Most of these discussions all seem to follow the same path of people simply sharing their opinions, followed by unnecessary personal attacks by anyone who doesn’t agree. So, in other words, there’s no real discussion to be had here. Everyone will feel how they feel & no amount of abusive ad hominems is going to change that.

Good to see I'm not missing anything.
I've quit like half a year ago and check in every now and again.
Depends on where you are on ladder.
IMO, before D5, you can climb with basically anything.
You guys are talking about Wild? lol

Yeah, no shit, people like to win while spending the least amount of energy, next thread.
I love you Dreadsteed, I will never disenchant you!
