this is a thread about druids class identity, where we are and where it should go
since jade druid meta and all the objections it caused, druid has never had a tier 1 deck, not even a week. every expansion they push a token style deck and it works for a week falls hard when the meta settles.
they nerfed Nourish and Wild Growth telling people druids core cards are the issue and we're gonna redefine its class identity and pushed heal druid. heal druid was not working when there was no Zephrys around, after Zephrys and Mass Dispel they literally killed heal druid. wih quest druid they tried to give druid a platform to play its cards but we know how restricted we are when it comes to options. blizzard on druid is like a boxer whos taken a big Punch and cant come to his mind even after a year.
comare the situation to any other class, maybe priest was close to druid. Rogue had Tempo Rogue in RoS and it was a complete dominance then they got Apothecary and Gala in the same expansion😑 both tier 1 and complete dominance then blizzard thought lets give them Secret and stealth which both fit into their gala and makes it better. or warrior or shaman or paladin or hunter.
AoE: its been a traditional weakness for druids to deal with wide boards, they are not giving druid AoE but druid used to have good armor generation, they removed it because everyone was nagging "they generate armor more than Warriors".
nowadays druid cant deal with tempo tempo decks nor control decks, it doesn't even have a good midrange deck to be competitive.
I've come to the conclusion that blizzard has a Jade druid PTSD and they dont even give druid a set of mediocre cards
im sure there are many druid players more experienced than me. id like to know you thoughts on this
You're not really suggesting druid is in a worse position than shaman or paladin, right? The problem with druid is that it's a class that if given an inch can do really abominably degenerated things, given how much mana ramp they always have had and cards like Aviana and Kun. Blizzard's idea for "class identity" doesn't really seem to be fixed for any class other than dh (unless you consider "well, we suck now" a class identity for paladin) but druid is not in such a bad position currently.
And if you want druids who generate 60 armour and can deal with wide boards, just play wild, lad.
Druid is fine. it has multiple decks that can hit legend with the Kael token combo, embiggen druid, and ramp big druid. The heal druid archetype is probably 1 or 2 cards away from being viable they definitely didn't abandon it or maybe players just needs to discover a decent version of it.
Why are the people always going against the class identity? These are just guidelines of what a class can/can't do and their general playstiles. They established them waaaaay before they mentioned them in their post and havn't changed there minds:
Druid: Attuned with nature, Druids rely on the magic of the wild, massive beasts, and swarms of woodland creatures. Their toolbox allows them the versatility to pivot from defense to aggression. However, they have limited ways to directly clear out enemy minions.
Strengths: Mana generation, giant minions, minion swarms, card draw, Beasts
Weaknesses: Destroying big minions, board clear
You are talking about the different Archetypes which is something completely different

Theres been several druid king dickswings since jade..
Star aligner druid was insane.. the 2000+ armor deck is still played in wild.. spell druid is at least t2 if not t1 depending on the day.
Also, ultimate infestation caused community wide PTSD so theres probably definitely gonna have to be some downtime for recovery from that 😅

Google search: Is Hearthstone free to play?
Druid have potential to be broken it is just a matter of a single card they create.
Broken or dead. That's druid's identity and always will be.
