As the title says I'm just getting back in the game for the first time since October, could definitely use some advice on what cards are staples such as crafting guide and maybe the meta. From what I can tell Embiggen druid is pretty solid but no clue what else. I've got the general concept of Battlegrounds down (all be it I'm not the best quite yet) and will probably end up playing it more in the future.
A big question I have is are there any viable control decks out there right now? I understand tempo/aggro is usually better but I've always enjoyed control more. If anyone happens to have a list or two of different decks they enjoy I'd greatly appreciate it!
Download MTG Arena. Seriously though, you missed 1.5 expansions since October, maybe more if you hadn’t gotten much of Saviors of Uldum. The dragon master packs are likely a good value for you and Galakrond’s awakening is the best value for guaranteed cards.
The meta right now isn’t really that bad. Face hunter, treant Druid and zoolock are good for aggro, resurrection priest is probably best control, and Galakrond rogue, warrior and shaman are all decent midrange. Embiggen Druid is strong, but very high roll. If you don’t get your embiggens out fast or ramps/frizz after you play both embiggens, your dead. When you get embiggen, breath of dreams and frizz out on curve though, it’s tough to stop.
Whatever you do, stay away from crafting year of the raven cards as they will be going to wild in a couple months.
Honestly at this point almost every meta deck is insanely expensive, like most of them are around 13k dust or something insane like that but having left on October means you shouldn't be THAT behind so maybe you could get something good together.
My advice would be to play the best deck you can with what you have and maybe buy the new adventure and dragons packs but definitely don't invest any resources on rotating sets and packs, just buy some of the new stuff and maybe invest in some strong cards that won't rotate on April and then start saving gold and dust for April. You could even go for a deck like Treant Druid which is very cheap and can give you nice results, it's not tier 1 but it's still a decent deck and incredibly cheap for how good it is tbh.
Ebbigen is just hyped and easy to play, deck is bad.
Play Galakrond Rogue With Flik , zilliax, Siamat and Leeroy works like a control deck with tempo and miracle plays.
The other control deck is Quest Priest, but I guess it's too expensive to craft and u will be screwed with matchmaking, so, I don't advise this one, I have all decks of this season and this is the worst of them it's only good against braindead aggro and bad decks in general.
Quest Hunter is very good and u can control the board almost everytime, so I guess it's a half control, Half aggro deck xD There's a version of Control shaman being played by some ppl, but i don't advise this too 'cause many legendaries will rotate in april, including Hagatha and Stormsurge.
EDIT: Also, give runeterra a try, it's way better. I'm playing a Draven Jinx deck really enjoyable to play and very funny, specially when u summon draven and he says "It''s DRAVEN TIME". If u left this game before, keep away from it still. Hearthstone it's not like was before and it's getting worse every expansion, give urself a better lifem don't support this terrible company not even by playing their games.
Standard is a mess, Galakrond vs Highlander, really a terrible meta. Wild is a bit better but it's Mage vs Warlock, with Warlock the biggest offenders of cheating obscene amounts of stats and mana. My advice if you want to play hearthstone again is non Reno Quest Mage in Wild, use 2 Arcane Giants and 1 of the new Giants, Vargoth, Luna, and Mana Cyclone's. It's busted, but it's extremely fun and skill testing, so easy to screw up at any point. But if you want autoplay hearthstone, just play Standard and pick your poison...I doubt you'll enjoy yourself for more than a few days unless you LOVE facing the same decks endlessly.

If you thought you knew what you think I know, then you'd know I knew you knew I know.
Dont come back. Leaving is the hard part for most. I have tried it but could never entirely cut myself off from it. Even now as i play Runeterra i still play one or 2 matches of HS per day just to complete the daily quests.
Seize this chance to leave the game for good

Bring back the Sorry emote!
Just don't go back. You did it, well played!

Best advice is to play a better game, like MtG Arena or LoR. Just my opinion. Hearthstone is clearly a game in decline.
play wild...took a break for a few months and my decks still work well enough
Give Runeterra a try, is freaking addicting
Objection!!!
