I believe that one critical thing this game is missing is the existence of guilds which would help players seek out the preffered games they are looking to play. Oftentimes the meta becomes so oppressive that there's only 3-5 decks you can feasibly play if you are looking to win 3 out of 5 games. Hear me out, Guilds could change that.
They would be subcategories of playerpools that are subscribed to customized settings that are run by the guild's moderators to ban certain cards/ archetypes that the group is collectively avoiding trying to face. The meta isn't sooo bad right now but we all know it will again ( think back to the cubelock or most recently quest shaman builds ). When these pop up there would always be a guild that flat out bans out a trouble card or two or could adjust the frequency of draw for it.
This would create a second buffer past what T5 finds to be ok with their often lackluster balance. You could inspect a guild you trust and log in knowing you dont have to "join them or die" with broken decks. Guilds could even be created for ppl who want to face only mirrormatches of the dsck they like to play or for the memers who want an actual chance to win.
This is a really neat idea! I have never seen anyone suggest this before. However, unfortunately I think this is far too intricate for this small indie company to implement. If they couldn't add a tournament mode, they won't add anything like this. Having said that, once again, I think this is a really cool idea, and I would not mind the addition of this
I would love guilds, not only for association and fun, but in the future for more formats, who knows. Imagine a Two Headed Dragon format using this, for example.
However, I don't think Blizzard will implement this as it's too intricate as Screwjank said. They're going towards a simple gameplay experience after all. They even waited 3?4? years to add a new game mode.
Maybe a 'weekly/monthly theme/bans' in casual mode? I doubt that would happen too because it will be difficult for new players. Unless they do the Uldum mid expansion gimmick of adding wild cards to your collection.
Probably the major problem against, is that I read somewhere that if a game gains a chat mode, even if only for guilds, there would be changes to it's ERSB rating, which Blizzard probably doesn't want.
No, they won't ever implement guilds when they have done anything like that in OW and HOTS. And Blizzard is very slow in implementing new features in HS.
True this. Its nice to dream though. Idk why they don't like features that'd increase interest in their game and slow down the crowd leaving it but they don't
Don't need a social aspect to a card game. It's a card game and has no need for guilds. Games that have guilds usually have events, raids, dungeons, teams that require multiple players. For the most part, Hearthstone is a solo game and doesn't need a way to make friends to accomplish anything at all in the game.
Wasn't as much focusing on the social aspect of guilds, more on how it would be a welcomed customizable version so people could play the game their own way. You would have known that if you actually read the post.

Probably because there is no crowd leaving it and they're already making massive bank on it?
I agree that guilds would be a good feature to add but there's still a half million people downloading the game just on mobile every month in addition to existing players, I don't think Hearthstone is hurting for players in any way
