i've been playing since a while now and after a lot of ladder i came up with an thought. Please tell me what you think about it :)
Is it possible to climb the ladder from lvl (let's say) 15 till legend with a non aggro deck ?
The more i play the more i think it's not :(
If you manage to do it without... how did you do it ? There are soo many aggro decks out there that i cannot compete against with a more "regular" deck :(
The slower the deck, the longer it takes, but it's possible with any deck archetype, as long as the deck itself is solid.
Also, Aggro is actually not stronger than non-aggro; Just look at the tournaments, thye're barely represented there & the few that tried weren't really that sucessful. If you can't compete with aggro it's most likely because your deck simply isn't that good.
Aggro is so common on ladder not because of strength, but because the games are quickly over, so it isn't as much of a grind to higher ranks as with slower decks.

Firebat chose zoo, fast new token, huntard, and only priest as a control deck, so 3 out of 4 are aggro, or mid-aggro. What were you talking about ?
in 10 days i doubt you would ahve the time....play now to practice but try hard to legend next season ( unless you got a crazy amount of time to grind in this case go!). i think most control decks can achieved legend today, some would have more difficult time (paladin, shaman(control, no midrange), mage) but you should be fine with anyother, with priest and warrior being overstanding.

Hmm true, the last tournament had a fair share of aggro, I forgot; However, if you look at the decklists of all players, as opposed to only one, non-aggro is still overall more common in the tournament enivorenment. Just looking at the players who got past the group stage, only StrifeCro had two aggro decks, Tiddler, DTwo, Kaor & Kranich had only one aggro, while Kolento, Tarei &Dtwo none...

yeah, you have to factor in the time it takes to complete a game using a control deck, esp the control vs control matchups. One control game could last up to 30-40 mins, whereas an aggro deck would be finished with 3-4 games by then. If you've got all the time in the world to grind ladder, then sure, get to Legend with control. If not, most people like to aggro up to Rank 5 before switching.
Control Warrior counters Huntards, Zoo, Freeze Mage, Miracoli and Priest. "Kinda" weak against Faplock, Shaman, Mill Rogue (even though you will barely see one). Not horrible against any deck.
If you have enough dust to craft this P2W deck. Learn to play it, it will take you far.
Control Warrior. Case closed. No all joking aside. It is possible, and many have done it. Control Warrior beats the crap out of hunters and zoo, most of the time and has a decent change against other control decks. So I would say give Control Warrior a try.
Control Warrior is at best decent against hunters, but it is far away from "beats the crap out of hunters". (Played CTRL Warrior to Legend last season).
I would also say that this matchup is more than decent, I had a 75-80% winrate against hunters last season on my way to legend
Depends, if you mulligan into Fiery War Axe and the 4-cost Axe to stabilize board, you will get the edge in the match up.
Clear everything they throw out and armor up whenever you can. Eventually Huntard will run out of steam.
Why do people keep calling people who play hunters, huntards. You are calling a person you don´t know a retard....
The class's playstyle is rushdown and require no skill nor thinking to play. It's pretty fair to call someone a retard if they don't even need to use brain for a strategy card game.
Hunters are pretty much disgusted by the community since the Alpha of Hearthstone. That's why you almost never see streamers climbing ladder with Hunters on streams. One popular streamer (I think it was AppleJacked) even said "He would be disgusted to know someone climbed to Legend with Hunters."

I do not play hunter myself as I find it extremely boring but calling someone retard because he enjoys an other aspect of the game is not a wise thing to do. The community is not disgusted by hunter players, only a part of the community. Also I have seen every popular streamer I watch play hunter on the ladder, it might not be their favourite class, but they still play it.
You kind of have to play it if you want to climb ranks quickly; it's the best deck. The thing that annoys me is that the best deck throughout Hearthstone's lifespan (since official release) has almost always been Hunter. If some other class was OP from time to time it would be a nice change of pace from the usual Hunter being broken beyond belief.
I think every class can get there but not as easily. The meta has only changed slightly in the past few months.. At rank 5 and above, the meta can change hour to hour. Sometimes you face tons of aggro, and others you face a long streak of control decks.. Most classes have their counters but aggro decks have higher win rates and faster games against their "counters." I don't really respect those players who use hunter or zoo EVERY season to just get legend rank and say they are "x1000 legend," though there are few legit players who play mostly aggro..
I aim to get a different class to legend each season because I think it is more challenging and that it develops more understanding of the game.. Part of climbing with a certain class is understanding every single matchup (favored matchups and counter matchups): all the small nuances in plays/mistakes, mulligans, and strategies with different situations of cards and matchups.. I made legend with shaman only this season and I had to beat a fair amount of priests, the nightmare matchup, (and other counter or 50/50 matchups) on the way up. I did lose a lot of these but you pick up on interesting strategies and desirable mulligans (with and without coin) based on common openings and speed.
Priest does well against aggro. I had a 15 win streak from rank 3 in season 6 because I happened to face mostly aggro at the time. Last season, I played only control warrior in which, I believe, was a more varied climb in the classes I faced.. I had to beat a high ranked handlock player as my gatekeeper, an unfavored matchup.. I used druid in season 4 but it was a different meta.
Imo, control classes have deeper decision making (for a card game), especially in control vs control since you have to be discerning about spending removal.. For example, many times it is better to just deal with sylvanas with the board when an easy play would be to hex or earth shock it (depending on the board). I learned a lot of small things about priest, warrior, and shaman when I barely knew these classes before. The "small things" do change and win/lose games. Watching a popular streamer who is proficient in certain classes can be very helpful..
Shaman is a very fun class as you have to constantly think about positioning deathrattles for flametongue or argus (can be used to play around shadow madness/cabal or for maximal chain damage), playing around overload, totem timing (tapping before or after suiciding a certain totem to increase you chances of getting a desired totem), and setting up for burst combos.
I don't really respect those players who use hunter or zoo EVERY season to just get legend rank and say they are "x1000 legend," though there are few legit players who play mostly aggro..
This opinion is something I can respect, it is very different to some which was written before.
The only option is to plague the ladder with zoo. I would not mind either making other classes viable without having the need for many legendaries or epics..
Top legend priest deck posted on this website is under 2k dust. I would hardly call that expensive. Mage, Shaman, also have some extemely cheap variants. Control warrior is slightly overrated (imo) at least until someone figures out a new build less reliant on a perfect mulligan.
Anyways, on the topic, yes you can climb the ladder with control. Is it efficient? I don't think so. BUT. Unless someone is really tryharding to get legend for some reason, they should simply play what they find more fun.

For the meta atm, Priest is pretty consistent against aggro & control.
I'm also seeing a lot of Shaman lately, so they're kinda good?
Loads of shamans since 2 days, i agree.
Not sure still if they can be good as the priest, no life gain sucks against aggros
The slower the deck, the longer it takes, but it's possible with any deck archetype, as long as the deck itself is solid.

I've been wondering why they're so many Shaman nowaday. Last season, there's a ton 'cause most of them were botters.
Rockbiter Weapon & Feral Spirit taunts do well against early aggro but they seem to have harder matchup against other Priests.
Firebat chose zoo, fast new token, huntard, and only priest as a control deck, so 3 out of 4 are aggro, or mid-aggro. What were you talking about ?

Hey, if you are so easily offended may be you should stay away from the Internet. You are going to have a bad time.
Very nice constructive response. Let me answer with another typical 12-year-old argument
"Guess someone has no skills."
