Topic explains it all. Reno Elemental Mage vs Jade Shaman matchup, I was the former. I played an Elemental, which I forgot of. Afterwards, I had to clear the board, so I played Dragon's Fury, hitting Scorch. Then, I was shocked because Dragon's Fury dealt 4 dmg to all minions, not 1 dmg to all minions. According to Scorch, it should have been cost 1-mana because I played an Elemental beforehand. Isn't cost-reduction rule applied in the deck?
Please explain to me why this happened. I'm really puzzled here.
This Cost reduction happens when you have the card in hand, not when it's in your deck. The reason is the card text first needs to be "activated" (which only happens in hand) before the cost reduction takes place.
Basically the card retains its original cost until you draw it.
Wasn't this issue fixed in latest patches? Like, you play Renounce Darkness and opponent plays King's Elekk and it shows my card as reduced one, not original one? Do I miss sth here?
I don't think it was patched, I think it was supposed to work this way, the case with Renounce Darkness is probably not working as intended by Blizzard.

I think it's a question of how the cost reduction is applied. In the case where the card reduces it's own cost based on some condition, it is not applied until drawn, but in the case of Renounce Darkness, it replaces your class cards with cost-reduced versions of other class cards.

The cost reduction is only applied in your hand, this is the same mechanic behind Holy Wrath + Molten Giant/Shirvallah, the Tiger or King's Elekk + Giants.
