I know my data is unconvincing. You can call it bias because it definitely is.
But I believe in my bias. Certainly, match making is random just enough so nobody can complain. For me, streaks are common enough to get win streaks.
There’s certainly nothing wrong with having a theory. If your evidence supports it (bias considered) then fair enough and good luck to you! :-)
I think that the consensus here would be that the data does not nevessarily suggest what you think it does, but its fine that you have already stated that you are happy with your translation of the output. In which case, happy hunting! 😁You may find with some more data over time that the patterns do not appear as frequently, but thats the beauty of hypotheses and experimentation.
Worth mentioning is that these days you're only set back by 4 ranks per month, compared to the old 10ish.
In either system if you climb past where you were after a month, you're gaining. But in the old system gaining a whole rank over the prior month got you just 1 additional star in the next month. Now gaining a whole rank over the prior month gets you a whole rank in the next month. So your gains are durable.
You'll reach equlibrium when it takes you a month to gain back 4 ranks -- and in that zone, you'll mostly be playing others of comparable capacity to win (deck quality + skill). Less getting curbstomped by Legend players cruising back up, less curbstomping lower-ladder players whom you don't belong among.
Shudderwock means driving a clown car in circles around your opponent while he swings his sword at you. Half the time he chops you and your car to pieces. The other half you park on his legs and 40 clowns come out one by one, trampling him to death.
Yeah I think it's your decks. But since the nerfs are coming tomorrow you'll probably want to wait 3-4 days and see how it starts settling out before making a tier 1 or 2 deck. The decks you listed on control priest is good and you have to pilot it well and be a little lucky.
I think a large part of it is the 5-star ranking system. It's just so difficult for anyone who can't spend 2-3 hours a day on Hearthstone to actually get anywhere.
It's very much become a pay-to-win game aswell. As much as people like to pretend it hasn't. All of the top decks are stupidly expensive. F2P casual players will forever struggle to get off the bottom ranks now. Can only see it getting worse aswell..
I disagree. I am f2p and hit legend this month in standard. With Tempo Mage I still achieve decent win streaks in wild. I can't make out any changes in how the ladder works since I started which is a bit more than a year ago.
Don't know where your problem lies but it's not in the way the Lader works. Just my experience.
Just wondering but how many hours (roughly) would you say you spend on Hearthstone per day/week?
I'm not just talking about F2P. I'm talking about F2P who also don't have the sheer hours to grind and grind. I used to regularly make it to rank 11-12, thanks to time restrictions I knew I wouldnt get much higher. Now, thanks to time restrictions and not wanting to throw a lot of money at the game to get enough dust for the Meta Decks, I'm now stuck at 18.
I get to have about 3-4 battles per day. Sometimes a couple more if I'm lucky. When you're building your own decks and testing them out, there's no time to climb the ladder.
That's the point I'm trying to make. The ladder changes punished all "casual" players who can't devote hours per day to Hearthstone.
And yes, that's the way the ladder works. You have win rates between 50 and 60 %, so you can easily calculate the number of games you need to climb. But during a whole season you have on average 30 days to climb higher. And thx to the new ladder system you can consistently climb over several month. I got to rank 5 at the end of the year. Finished rank 3 in March, rank 1 in February and hit legend this month.
Its a marathon no sprint. But your advantage are the win streaks and that you can't fall behind certain ranks.

Rongchoi's heroic adventure decks
For me it's win 3-5 games, then lose 1-2 games (mostly because i get a bad draw).
Right now,i lost one game, then won two.
