Know how much you play. I tend to play just enough to get 100g per day, and I don't like Arena much.
Try to save up enough to buy ~50 packs of the upcoming expansion. For Ungoro, I saved up enough for 40 because I took a pretty long hiatus in Gadgetzan, and so I bought 10 more over 10 days. Afterwards, you should have enough to craft one or two decent decks with the new cards + dust, and from there, you go back to saving gold, only buying more packs/Arena entrances if you want another injection of dust for another deck.
i am by no means f2p but this is probably going to change the way i go about playing the game. I had never thought about it this way. this is a good read for really any player that is f2p or spent a little money... or basically anyone that doesnt have a full collection
what classic cards do u think would rotate to the hall of fame? there isnt really a classic legendary that is overused these days since rag and syl rotated to the HoF. When WOG rotates to wild, Cairne wont be used so much, unless there is a weapon heavy meta, harisson isnt overused, if the meta is control heavy, ysera wont be used, etc. i dont see any classic legendaries being rotated out next over the few expansions. The commons, rares and epics are all too much to count and can (and probably will) get nerfed if they became too overpowered
4. Try not to craft commons and rares as eventually you will open them in packs.
5. Dust rares to craft epics, epics to craft legendaries.
6. Craft full decks not just cards.
7. Wait for vS report see the cheapest tier 1 deck you can build and go for it.
This is the best advice so far, except number 5, which seems to contradict number 1.
You should not dust non-duplicates ever, for any reason.
(Also, use the "extra" keyword in your collection search to find golden cards you don't need to keep.)
i think number 5 meant that if you wanted to craft rares dust you EXTRA commons, if you want to craft epics dust your EXTRA rares, and if you want to craft legendaries, dust your EXTRA epics. for commons, well everyone has about 40 dust laying around
Ohh. That's a weird way to think about it. Dust is dust. You dust all your extras, always, and it all goes into one pool, which you use to craft what you need (and can afford).

You have to dust 20 (non-golden) rares to craft 1 epic, and you have to dust 16 (non-golden) epics to craft 1 legendary. That is incredibly inefficient, and chances are that if you have 16 epic cards to burn, then you probably have a pretty decent collection in the first place.
On the other hand, it only takes 4 epics to craft another epic, or 4 legendaries to craft another legendary. It can hurt to dust 4 legendaries, but if the only legendaries you own are Boogiemonster/Gruul/Nat Darkfisher/Milhouse, then none of those are worth as much as a single playable legendary.
Also, as far as a f2p player is concerned; golden cards are dust in the bank. Getting to at least rank 15 each season gets you guaranteed 140+ dust.
As a free to play player, I am currently finding it quite difficult to keep up to date with the meta. I spend the majority of my gold on Un'Goro packs, and whilst I don't have every Classic card, I definitely have a substantial collection. Do any of you lovely players have any tips or tricks for maximising my gold and dust savings? It's really hard for me to compete in ranked against all these players who are pumping in the dollars/have loads of coins saved up from before Un'goro. Thanks in advance for your help!
Apart from the Welcome Bundle, I haven't spent money on the game since TGT - as an every day player, I've found that there simply isn't any need, despite constant community complaints to the contrary. The dev team consistently designs as many cards for Timmy and Johnny as they do for Spike. As a result, only about a third of the cards released in any expansion have ever seen regular play on ladder - often less. Collecting 45 cards is much less of an onerous task than 135. Completing dailies will net about 15 packs each month - about 60 packs for each expansion. From 300 cards, you can expect about 220 commons, 65 rares, about a dozen epics, and two or three legendaries. It's a complete set of commons, and a complete set of "competitive" rares. Dust from duplicates, gold cards and junk epics and legendaries will be enough to craft a legendary, and four or five epics. Prioritize crafting the cards you'll actually use - for example, I likely wouldn't have played the Warrior or Rogue quests, even if I had opened them, as neither deck offers a play-style that I particularly like. I enjoy Midrange and Aggro-Control decks, and crafted accordingly - folks who enjoy Combo decks, and hate Midrange, would craft differently from me. All things considered, I have every card I want from the past two years, apart from Chillmaw, Fandral, Elise and Hemet. I imagine that other everyday F2Ps could tell a similar story.
Also - the "Play a Friend" quest has increased my own gold mining efficiency by about 50% - I've made about two dozen friends at Fireside Gatherings IRL, and receive two or three PaF requests every week, which amounts to about 800 extra gold each month. The hearthpwn forums have a thread with over 9000 contributors, seeking to "hook up" with other players in order to farm the PaF quest. It's the easiest way to farm gold - one game, win or lose, for 80 gold.
f you can, get to rank 5, get the golden epic and some dust. once you get to rank 5, farm casual with fast decks like pirate warrior, midrange hunter, aggro mage, aggro druid, etc. mulligan 40 and 50 gold quests. i personally dont do arena. I'm really bad at it and it its not worth it unless you get i think like 4+ wins (50 gold + pack). try to save X amount of gold per week to save for expansions. Im really saying a lot of things people already mentioned so i will stop here.

Make sure you take advantage of the "pity timer" when opening packs. For example, if you have opened 20 Ungoro packs without a legendary and then you open a classic pack from Tavern Brawl or something, your pity timer will reset.
Well "reset" might be misleading here. It does not reset, pity timer just counts seperately for each expansion.
Therefore, if you have opened for example 20 UnGoro packs, it might makes sense for you to invest into another (up to) 20 UnGoro packs in order to receive a (guaranteed) legendary, instead of going for 20x UnGoro and 20x Classic without a (guaranteed) legendary.
Today I opened Ysera from Tavern Brawl classic card pack and just now I opened Genzo, the Shark from a MSOG pack I bought for lolz, how does that count as Pity Timer ? Is it real ? I'm a F2P player as well.
