Whenever a new expansion comes out, myself along with I'm sure most of you take advantage of the deal where you can get 50 packs for $49. My question is why only limit this discount to one per account? I will buy 50 packs for $49 and only use gold for the rest of my Un'Goro packs. I don't get all the cards this way but I get a lot of them and craft what I need. But if I could spend $100 dollars and get 100 packs, I would do it. I'm sure others would do the same and I think Blizzard is missing out on some money by not allowing multiple discounted purchases for the first week or two of a new expansion.
I think it would make them more money. It's not like the discount is huge, and getting people to lock in their purchases in advance would probably sell more.
It would make them more money. It's simple economics. Even if they only made it where you can buy 50 packs for $49 for this first week, they would sell a lot more packs.
I think main reason is that this expansion is half smaller than previous ones. With only new 135 cards(23 legendaries, 112 epic or less) you can get almost all common and rare cards in 50 decks. After that it is only dust.
More interesting point is that Ungoro other rarities/ legendary rate is 5:1 compared to 12:1 in GAD or WOG. This should translate to the best dust value in any Hearthstone deck.
Does that mean more legendaries in 40 packs compared to other expansions?

?
Un'Goro is actually the biggest expansion we have had so far. Whispers of the Old Gods has 134 cards, Mean Streets of Gadgetzan and The Grand Tournament both have 132 cards and Goblins vs. Gnomes has only 123 cards.

You are really wrong, sir. All expansions are ~130 cards: Goblins vs Gnomes - 120 cards The Grand Tournament - 132 cards Whispers of the Old Gods - 134 cards Mean Streets of Gadgetzan - 132 cards Journey to Un'Goro - 135 cards
Also, the legendary rate is very similar in all expansions, since they have very similar number of legendaries - GvG 20, TGT 19, WoOG 21, MSoG 20, JtU 23.
Why would the number of legendaries in a set translate to dust value? THe chance to get a legendary is based on alocked down value, not based on the % of legendary cards in the set. A set with 1 legendary would give you as much chance of getting a legendary as a set with 120 legendaries. The only difference is WHAT that legendary will be once a card flip is identified as a 'legendary card'.
As far as why limit on the sale, I do note that ~50 is the point when you really shouldn't be buying many more packs. At that point a lot of the commons/rares are yours. Legendary/epcis cards are not good to try to find in packs. Thus you should be crafting for those instead. The exception are the fols who want to go for the 400 packs needed to just get everything at once.
Thus there's not really any real need to push a sale past the first batch. Most folks shouldn't be buying 100 packs as it's highly inefficient, and those that don't care for efficiency will buy the packs anyway. Thus why they probably set it as a good balance between those that want a head start and those that just want everything CHEAPPPPER.

Do you really think its not worth buying more than 50 packs? You do need the dust to craft the legendaries and where else to get it from?
What are you doing with all of your gold?
I agree that 50 packs is not quite enough to get everything you may want out of a 135-card expansion, but when you throw in another 50+ packs from the gold you should have saved up, it's plenty.
If there are a few people who think they need more than that, those people are not about to be deterred by a higher price point, so Blizzard is wise to make a few extra bucks off of them.

because that would make them less money?
Why so greedy?
Or why can't you pre-order like 10-20-25 packs and get the card back too?
Seems like they either A) don't care about the shop that much
or B) haven't had the time to get the team working on other options for the shop.
S39 Legend - Quest Rogue, S38 Legend - Murloc Paladin, S37 Legend - Miracle Rogue, S36 Top 200 Legend - Aggro Shaman, S35 - Finished Rank 51 Legend - Aggro Shaman, S34 Legend - Aggro Shaman
if they wait and let you buy them after you can only buy 40 packs for $49. If they let people buy multiple pre-orders they would lose a lot of money.

I figured people would be aware of this by now ;).
To think 1 expansion costs as much as a whole game. FTP(p2w) meta.
