In order to keep up with the power balance, new cards should be conditional. They can be powerful in certain conditions or when previous requirements are met (Feugen + Stalag) . That way, people will keep putting them in and out of their decks depending on meta ( Acidic Swamp Ooze and BGH are 2 very good examples). If you make a stand alone card that is all powerful for a specific mana slot, it will dictate the balance of the game ( Sylvanas at 5 mana).
Also another thing that I think is holding deck building back is the lack of deck slots. People don't wanna try to build new decks because it means that they HAVE to delete old, tried and true decks, which, why would you do that? Why would you delete something that works? Not EVERYBODY is going to do that.
I actually put dates to my decks and update them on weekly basis ... I found that to be better than just naming them like "pwnpaladin imba ultra heal", right now I know when i updated which deck and if they are going to work
I don't understand people who have the mindset that withholding information is a healthy thing for a game. If you can only win from someone knowing less about the game than you, then you probably aren't good on your own.
actually the game is just about that - if you are better player you should win a game because you spend more time with it and you are improving. More people know the better win rate should they have agains people not knowing too much. Thats is pretty much logical not only in game but even in life ... Sorry but your argument is not good, its like saying "why should someone make more money at stock exchange than me, even he spend there his whole life and I just came in?"
Netdecking removes that knowledge cap. Even half wit can just read about deck online or watch stream, copy it and then hit Legendary with it ... it is simple as that
I think you are looking at your example the wrong way. Your stock exchange is a place where all of the information is gathered in one place so that people can make decisions on what to buy and sell. Your intuition about what you should buy is like the intuition you have when presented with a board state. What decks are good or anything like that is the same as the actual stock prices.

Ok, lets look at it as on competetive game it is - Is it good idea to let your opponent know what are you up to and what is your deck from the start? Sharing ALL informations you know loses your advantage and actually helps your opponent and liking it or not we are all opponent since HS is competetive 1v1 game. Look for exampl at Ek0p, he is only competetive player I know and even he is not better as other players he has better results since he doesn't share his deck and he plays different ones from "major" decks.
Eh, I personally think people are looking a bit too much into it with the competitive play or the we are all opponents or every man for himself so we should all reinvent the wheel. Hearthpwn creates. It creates deck ideas, it creates possibilities, it creates inspiration. Have I tried decklists? Yeah. I still prefer building my own, but them existing takes away nothing from me. If you want to go deep into the meta and analyze your opponents moves and the like, Hearthpwn is a great tool. If you don't want to be analyzed, fair enough, just don't share your deck.
In the end, I like Hearthpwn. If a player needs help getting around heroic challenges? hearthpwn. If players want a deck to go up in rank cause they NEED that legend background. Whatever. Hearthpwn. If players just want a little spark of inspiration for a new deck idea or even to spitball ideas about future heroes? Yes, even that is Hearthpwn.
I'm of the mind that creating something is of value, and hearthpwn is a repository of creation...I don't believe it's ruined the game at all. It changes teh game, but personally? I think that's for the better. Ask me again after I fight five handlock decks in a row and maybe I'll say something different, but for now, yeah, Hearthpwn is a good thing, I think :P
Hearthstone would be much for fun if people would build their own decks, that's for sure...
The only difference would be the time that it takes the majority of players to figure out all the best decks on their own, but that would change nothing in the end.
Would it be fun to win against unoptimised decks? Sure who doesn't like winning, but imagine playing against decks that are optimised while you run a kitchensink deck.
I think it is more fun to beat a player skillwise than beating him deckwise.

The difference in skill between Ek0p and idk me is more than just in our deckbuilding. Deckbuilding is only one part of Hearthstone.
I wish I could find the Sirlin article on this, but you have the mentality of some fighting game players (notably not ones that do well competitively) who learn a technique and then rely on that secret to win instead of actually becoming a good player. As soon as someone else figures out the button combination to do a Shoryuken in your friend group, your only advantage is gone.
this website has helped alot more than it has hurt the game. yes meta decks get very stale and annoying but you can run any deck you want confidently in casual if you just want fun. i used to mess around with stuff like demon lock before the voidcaller came out, murloc druid, and giants shaman. there are synergies that are sub-par but still fun to use.
and the reason "meta" decks happen is because they work very well, sometimes you just cant make a deck stronger. but all decks have weaknesses no matter how op they seem to be like the current trap hunter.
the real skill in this game goes beyond the decisions you make in game. you have to understand which cards are strong suited vs the current decks your running into and knowing which cards to cut and which to keep to create an "anti meta" deck of sorts.
everything people are complaining about has a solution you just have to go and find it yourself instead of coming here to complain about it
These types of websites help the game I would say. If they didn't exist, people would just always lose to better decks and have no real way to better themselves. When I wanted to become better, I googled "Hearthstone forums" and, of course, I was led here. Naturally, in such a forum-based community, people will list their decks and feed off each other's knowledge.
However, I do remember the very first time I faced a miracle rogue deck (in casual play, I believe). I remember when he pulled off his combo. I remember thinking "Wow, that was incredible, he must be an amazing player." Of course, shortly after, I learned it was the deck that everybody played because everyone was too scared to try their own decks haha.
