Since I can I will. For the last five weeks (yes I've been counting) stupid tavern brawl pack has given me 40 dust like I'm still behind on the classic epics and legends then you see on this board how people post pictures of blessed RNGesus bestowing them golden legends and 3 epics in one pack like are u kidding me blizzard?? I swear that this company has something against ftp players. I'm srsly losing the love for this game especially with the new expansion its a straight up middle finger to everyone. I try to remain a fan I really do but the rng in this game is slowly making me lose the passion.
I'm in the same boat, except for me it's more like 5 months. The thing is, for every player that posts about how awesome their pack is, there are at least 10 people like us who got 40 dust, only we're much less likely to post anything about it because it's not that exciting. There's nothing inherently lucky or unlucky about tavern brawl packs vs. other packs. Open enough of them and eventually you'll probably get something good.
Play arena dude, but if you are bad at it, well, that is your problem, not Blizzard's one. Yesterday, after finishing a 10-3 arena run, I got from my pack two golden rares and two legendaries (Princess Huhuran and Mukla, Tyrant of the Vale). Sometimes pack opening rng is against you, but other times it is in your favour.

Also, you're guaranteed good cards (one legendary every 40 packs, one epic every 10)... Source
And here's the chance to open a legendary in a given pack, based off of the number of consecutive packs you've opened without legendaries.
And for epics...
Depending on who you ask, the chance to get a 40-dust pack is around 60%. The chance to get 5 in a row is 0.6*0.6*0.6*0.6*0.6 ~ 8% chance. Supposing that you've opened 100 packs, that's 96 opportunities to get a 5 in a row streak (yes, I know that these probabilities are not disjoint, but I'm going to ignore that for now). Given that there's around 50 million hearthstone players, 49.98 million of them have gotten at least 5 40-dust packs in a row.
So while I understand that it can be frustrating to open a string of bad packs... Understand that probably everyone on this entire site has gotten that or worse. Additionally, those insane packs are just that- insane. Complaining that other people get those packs and you don't is akin to complaining that you don't win the lottery. Yes, you don't win the lottery, but same with millions of other people. Finally, there is no evidence whatsoever that Blizzard is trying to punish F2P players and alienate its fanbase.
OR... If you prefer anecdotal evidence, here you go:
I recall, some months back, getting a string of 8 40-dust packs- it was disheartening, and all the more so since GvG packs were soon to be removed from the store. I'd debated abandoning wild until I got enough dust to craft Dr. Boom (because what's the point of wild without Dr. 4 and Dr. 7?). But, I had enough gold for a pack, so I wandered over to the shop and decided to buy myself one last pack. One last pack, I said. Then I'd start saving again. At the very least, this would get me a little more dust. Rare (meh. Scarlet Purifier), common, gaouldenn rare (I paused here- goldens are always nice. Then I realized it was a Target Dummy...). And another common. I hovered my mouse over the final card, fully expecting the blue border to appear. But wait. Was that... gold?
I clicked.
WHAOW! GAOULDEN LEGENDARY, the innkeeper hollered. I turned down my volume slightly, then looked at the card. I sat there for a moment- not just a legendary, but golden? From this card alone, I'd be able to craft my Dr. Boom. Then I looked closer- that shimmering lightning, that flapping hood. Could it be? That upturned nose, those- those burning fuses... Upon golden boom bots.
Tl;dr- the experience of getting a series of 40-dust packs is near universal amongst hearthstone players. But you, too, can get a golden legendary, even when all seems lost. Because Blizz is...
...nevah gonna give you up, never gonna let you down. Nevah gonna run around and desert you*... (starts humming)
Today in my free brawl pack I got Barongeddon, then I had a cup of fresh green tea. As a result of that, I think Priest is OP because my keyboard is not a mechanical one. I hope Blizzard will address this issue.
Hypothetically, yes. Still, I wouldn't put it past Blizzard to tweak the numbers after a while, especially for new players. While it might seem like pure luck to get three legends in a row (I did it once), and while it might be pure luck most of the time, Blizzard probably does bump people's chances to get a legend after a long run of lucklessness, or to open packs with better contents. From my own personal experience, it looks like I'm more likely to get epics when I've also gotten a legend from the same pack. Possibly it's just me and my low sample size. Possibly it's Blizzard making me more excited so I'll play more and invest more $$$.

No, you're quite correct. I was trying to find one of the sites that talked more about this- the comment's been (heavily) edited.

Wow! They actually don't use the same probabilities each time? What about conditional probability? Does getting one good card make it more likely you'll get other quality ones in the same pack?
The question is, how many people out of all of em are getting this very good luck out of the TB packs (which are just packs)?
That someone comes here to post about their good luck says nothing about your odds. How many people have the same normal bad luck you have, that say nothing? Probably a lot.

Wow, I've unpacked a lot of legendaries from tavern brawls, including a Golden Y'sharjj and (just today) Malygos.

Well my record is 2 legendaries in a row. The downside was it was 2 Muklas.

*unless you play Priest.
Now honestly, what did you expect?

I got only 1 Epic 0 Legendary in the last 20 free packs from Quest and Tavern brawl in the last 2 months. No complain because its free.
i feel u bro, i just got "lucky" today in my tavern pack and got a golden coldlight oracle.............
I got two Ysera's off of Tavern Brawl on one of my accounts. Not from the same pack though.
don't complain. I play tawern brawls from first till last. All packs i got was 40 dust. ALL OF THEM!
Actually i kinda skip 60 gold daily for brawls like today cause no fun playing it.
I played 65 out of 66 Tavern Brawls and opened 1 legendary and like 1-3 epics. Bad luck huh?
