So with cards like N'Zoth the Corruptor, Ragnaros, Lightlord, and The Ancient One being revealed, does Hearthstone now have the skinny on the world of Azeroth? Are the things happening at the Inn something that are just whispers from the beyond or are they considered canon? Will my WoW playing friends scoff at me, or do they accept this as part of a wider reality?
It's kinda obvious what's cannon and what isn't.. most of the game isn't.. the league of explorers might be considered cannon.. not too farfetched in WOW lore that an event like that happened same can be said about the grand tournament a small even for the wow universe that can or not be cannon for wow doesn't have any influence
But the awakenning of all the old gods at the same time corrupting all of azoroth.. can't be cannon in the wow universe unless it's a WOW expansion too..
Anyway the whole concept of hearthstone is so uncannonical I was reading the wow lore lately and really not only some heroes aren't alive at the same timeline but they are playing a card game? jaina will try to kill garrosh on sight for example, varian wrynn fighting for garrosh?
voljin is the current horde leader what he does working for anduin?
So don't take hearthstone seriously lorewise only a few things are cannon in WOW universe..
But seriously, nothing in hs is canon. It's directly inspired by warcraft and it tells a lot of different stories because of its fast-paced, carefree playstyle.
It's been confirmed WoG is an alternate universe where the Old Gods reawaken and invade. So Ragnaros, Lightlord doesn't exist in the Warcraft universe in any capacity except being a potential path Ragnaros the Firelord could go down.

Free to try and find a game, dealing cards for sorrow, cards for pain.
It was already stated by Ben Brode that Hearthstone is non-canonical because it's a card game played by people of Azeroth.
N'zoth the corruptor art is cannon though..

I'm pretty sure the lore of this game is that it's a game being played by the people of azeroth
Yes Ragnaros is good now and hogger is a raid boss. Expect the next wow patch to reflect the Canon change.
