Hi all, I thought of creating a set of neutral cards that act as persistent/world spells that affect the board after being played. They use the Battleground keyword. They are spells that remain on the board, unless replaced by another Battleground spell.
I had very strong déjà vu from this thread. I like the idea, but someone else made almost exactly the same idea in THIS THREAD 2 days ago. He called it battlefield instead of battleground.
they are too expensive if we take into account that it benefits both players for the rest of the game, maybe 3/4 mana would better. but i love the idea since it could create some very interesting decks around these battlegrounds
Even if blizzard introduced something like this it would either be extremely powerful or no one would play it. I'm not big on board set ups since they take too long to achieve and you are just wishing for the "dream" scenario to happen. If I may add something, blizzard can't add these "battlegrounds" or w/e you call it without changing every single board game or upgrading the UI to allow it (this is assuming it will visually affect the board).
If you look closely, you can see this is a signature and not a comment. Why are you reading? Stop reading this. Did you read this too? Dang you must like reading.
Considering how fast paced hearthstone can be and how successful rush deck are, playing such card would only set you farther back in the game. I truly wish hearthstone had the MTG mechanic where you can choose if a minion defend or not while your opponent attacks. Rush deck still works while giving the edge on the defending opponent to not get overwhelmed. This mechanic alone would open so many possibility that doesn't seems to work yet.
What would make this really cool is if playing a Battleground card changed the table you were playing on - it would require more work to implement each card, but it would avoid the memory problem that ongoing effects can have if they don't have an on-board presence.
I would also suggest a neutral minion or a neutral spell that cycles with a "Hearthstone" effect, that replaces the current Battleground with the standard, neutral Battleground.
This is really cool. Honestly I hope something like this gets released, but mainly spells that permanently affect the game are super cool. No current spells really have that much lasting power (the closest I can think of is Beneath the Grounds)
Oh damn, I guess great minds think alike? I have no idea how to bold the keyword on the card generator lol
It's clear that you copied him. It was a two day difference- what are the chances? And "great minds think alike" makes me even more suspicious. But it doesn't matter as long as you give credit to him and say you're expanding his idea rather than claiming it as yours.
Erm, the concept of persistent spells aren't exactly a new thing. I got my inspiration from Terraform cards from Yu Gi Oh. It even exists in MTG. Take a chill pill and sit down.

Would love to hear your thoughts!

Anyway, you should make Battleground: bold.

It's great idea, and your are different - things like these happen.
You managed to bold Stealth in last card, not sure what card generator do you use,
On Hearthcards.net - there is a B button - or you can put the word you want bolded into:
bolded
The other popular site i don't remember had it done by putting double starr infront and behind i think:
**bolded**

I see your point, I guess it makes more sense balance-wise if it only gave Stealth for 1 turn.
As a MTG player... I love the idea

Hi. Select word or whole phrase you want bolded and press small "B" button on the right:
