I dont think this card is that good. Most Secretdins will control the board until they can go for lethal so this is useless. Maybe in a super face aggro Secretdin it can see play but its still pretty bad.
Seems pretty meh. Would much rather run Repentance in xmas-din. The decks this will regularly trigger against are the decks you don't need this card for.
Whether or not Sacred Trial kills Dr. Boom when played with 1 minion on board depends on how Blizzard codes this card, and I think it will be coded in a way that kills Dr. Boom in this scenario. It would go like this:
Secret Activation Phase: Check if # of minions on board > 3 → Yes, so kill the minion being played (Dr. Boom)
Of course if Sacred Trial "remembers" whether there were more than 3 minions on the board when Dr. Boom is played and checks against that, it wouldn't behave this way. However, that's not how Blizzard had handled secret procs previously so I have my doubts.
If it's coded this way, it could prevent Battlecry's from happening.
It won't prevent the battlecry. That's not what the secret does.
Currently, secrets trigger after battlecries. Kezan Mystic's battlecry steals a secret before any triggers, Mirror Entity copies Faceless Manipulator after it has facelessed something, etc.
But that's irrelevant. The condition for Sacred Trial to trigger is "when your opponent has at least 3 minions and plays another". if this condition isn't met, there's no reason for this secret to trigger.
When you play Onyxia on an empty board, you don't have at least 3 minions, you have none. When you have one minion and play Dr. Boom, you don't have at least 3 minions, you have one. When you have two minions and play Razorfen Hunter, you don't have at least 3 minions, you have two.
All of those tokens generated by the minion you played are summoned after the said minion, which was played when the board didn't have at least 3 minions. There's no reason for the secret to trigger in those situations, and if it does, it's a bug.
Edit: So as it happens, it does trigger on Onyxia. This is of course subject to interpretation but I personnally think the card does not act according to its text. That's a shame. The card acts really inconsistently whenever "play a minion" doesn't result in a direct "+1" on the board.
The worst is Jaraxxus, you have three minions and play Jaraxxus: The conditions according to the text are met, but the secret doesn't trigger because Jaraxxus left the board.
Now play Jaraxxus with four minions, the secret sees four minions, assumes (and that's the whole problem, it assumes that you probably had three before), and then triggers on Jaraxxus, on which it didn't trigger before, on which it can't even have any effect because it's not a minion anymore.
Adding new effects is cool and all, but it's not a good idea when you can't correctly implement them...
I would think that the Secret would not trigger at all in these scenarios, in fact I think you could have two minions on board, play Boom and end up with a total of five without every triggering the secrets.
We will know soon enough of course since it is in the first wing.
As expected, Sacred Trial kills Dr. Boom when played with 1 minion on board. It behaves just like other secrets do, so we can expect similar interaction regarding Mind Control Tech, Knife Juggler, etc.
One downside to all this is now even more people might incorrectly think Battlecry happens before minion hits the board, but if I had a nickel for every time someone on the internet was wrong...
If you have 2 charge of SOJ, the boom bots get the buffs not Boom. Even though the animation is Dr then the boom bots, the bots hit the board first mechanically.

no soj proc at the "After Summon Phase". Boom Bots are summoned in "Battlecry Phase", so "After Summon Phase" for boom bots come first.
1. Dr. Boom played 2. Battlecry Phase 1. Boom bots summoned 2. After Summon Phase (for boom bots): SOJ procs 3. After summon Phase (for Dr. Boom): no SoJ charge left, nothing happends

It is so, in a different wording - battlecry happens before minion *finished hitting* the board.
And this secret is now an official Onyxia hard counter. Sadface.

No the wording is not the issue here. You can call effects going off as "fishing hitting the board" or whatever.
The point is that minion hits the board (takes up a space, becomes interactible, etc) before Battlecry happens.
I am pretty sure I played Paladin hero power "dudes" while the other guy had this secret up and it didn't activate when the dude was the fourth minion. I'm fairly positive I tested for every other secret.

Won't kill dr. Boom since boom boys trigger after Dr Boom hits the board.
this secret is useless. It's worse than MCT, because opponent plays around it, and it is a wasted spot in a deck. At least MCT is a 3/3.
I guess it will see even less play than Gomok the Impaler, which I see only once in ladder.

Im fine with it if Mysterious Challenger becomes 2/2

This Card in mid range pala will be insane.
hi
There is a lot of steak here...
