It's really funny how many people base their decisions on this being bad by saying "You'll always get unlucky and not discard it or when you do, it will hit the wrong target."
I am personally not saying it's bad, I am saying it's inconsistent. Is it inconsistent enough to justify saying it's bad? I honestly don't know yet. If this card had some mechanic that gave it a higher to guaranteed chance of it getting it discarded with still keeping the random damage I would say this card was worth it's digital weight in digital gold. The good news is that it's never a dead card persay. 4 mana for 4 damage is expensive but never useless. So even if RNG punches you in the nuts you can always still cast it.
I think that it is consistent because of the nature of zoo. The deck has very strong board presence all the time, so you can trade stuff and leave a 4 health minion on the board, then you play Doomguard. If Fist of Jaraxxus hits the minion, its awesome, if it hits the opponent, you can still get rid of that minion with the Doomguard or any other active minion.
The best thing about this card that you can trigger the effect for FREE. This is why Soulfire got nerfed in the first place.
I can see your point, and generally you can minimize to eliminate the possibility that this card won't get chosen since you can play cheap cards to reduce your hand size. Also with Zoo's ability to control the board, yeah this could be very strong indeed. I am excited to try it.
I like the positive discard effect, but will be a dead card unless you can make sure it gets discarded. Card is basically keep until its your only card.
LIsten to me, this card is the strongest card revealed so far, will be played in every competetive warlock deck, mark my words..
Oh great lord of knowledge, let me know how this card fits in basic Handlock without any discard effect...
And basic handlock is for sure going to be played after over 100 cards are added to the game lets talk again when the expansion is out discussion with such a poor soul with such a high iq is just a waste of time.
First, Handlock is a strong deck in the meta. Second, the only card that seems to affect handlock for now is Eadric the Pure, and is a Paladin card, and also, there are probably very few more warlock card to be revealed and I higly doubt there will be neutral minions with a discard effect. So, yeah, you will eat your words :)
That art is Archimonde, not Jaraxxus. But hey, considering Jaraxxus's weapon has a picture of some random eredar warlock from the WoW TCG (and that in WoW, he uses a staff, not his bare hands), it's not like they seem to care to make anything accurate about him.
What weirds me out is the attitude behind it. Here we have a multi billion dollar company, producing a HIGHLY successful product that requires - compared to an AAA game - already very little effort. Even the art from most of the cards is reused, and so are the soundfiles. Which is okay, it's high quality and already there, they would be fools to not use any of it.
But despite all the convenience Blizzard already enjoys they didn't even bother to change the skin color to match Jaraxxus. They didn't go "welp, okay this piece of art isn't Jaraxxus but lol close enough, let's do some minor adjustments!" . They just didn't give a fu** at all! Which is kind of hilarious now that I think about it, but still.
No super talented artist would have been needed to draw a completely new picture, just one of their (undoubtedly) very skilled graphic designers doing a quick recolor.
I mean look, this is my less than 5 minute plebjob:
I don't expect them to be perfectionists through and through, they clearly aren't, but this is really lazy.

Since they used the same icons for different skills/talents in WoW, Im not surprised about blizzard lazyness...
GAIZ, it's just Archimonde using a sweet move he learned from Jaraxxus!

Yup. Handlock isn't going anywhere. It is one of the most successful decks in Hearthstone history

keep the new mechanics coming. at least bliz knows the game needs more mechanics desperately to add strategy. TGT is a good start.
If you can't beat them, join them

Then you should obviously use this in a zoo'ish deck. This card will be used in very advanced play, and that doesn't mean it's bad.
I don't play Lock but that's a cool design for them. I'd like to see that effect on a minion too.
I like the positive discard effect, but will be a dead card unless you can make sure it gets discarded. Card is basically keep until its your only card.
it's an interesting mechanic. However 4 random dmg for 4 mana is unplayable. Maybe if it costed 3 and dealt 4 random it would be better
If only Mal'ganis had a discard effect like his flavour text suggest, this "new" mechanic could be so funny :P
This card was made for Maly-lock.
Malygos, soulfire into this for 18 damage. 26 with a darkbomb first if you got Thaurrasian off first.
I think I watch more Hearthstone than I play. Not sure how I feel about that.

The name sounds a bit dirty.
This is going to have great synergy with the new card the are gonna release "The Shocker". Watch out for the combo of Shocker and Fisted.

I have just the deck for this, includes Succubus Soulfire and Doomguard.
I'm assumming this will go into a new achetype of Warlock that draws card and then discards cards for a huge combo that kills the opponent.
It would run Soulfires, Doomguards, probably not Succubusses, and Deathwing.
The thing about discard effects, for warlock it's only bad if you care about specific combos, if you've got trash filler card it's pretty good.
succubus is a tempo play for a non specialised deck, fist of achimonde is a trash filler card that does something.
Cool but I can't see it being used.
