He'll never go down in value, so it's not ridiculous to hoard them I suppose. Crafting multiple copies in hopes of a nerf, however, definitely is.
I personally think Dr. Boom merits a nerf. In my opinion no one card should be so viable in such a wide range of deck archetypes. Unless you are facing lethal the following turn he is always a good play.

They really need to revise the card. You shouldn't be able to use it in almost every deck. The boombots should be random to both friendly and enemy characters because it would jive with every other bomber mechanic and it would make the card less universal.
In my whole experience since GtG experience, the only problem I had against Dr Boom was when playing rogue, because sapping him nets opponent another 2 boom bots, which in turn murder your azure drakes.
Ragnaros and Dr Boom are absurdly unfair counters to rogue, if the rogue can't have a prior board, and can't finish off the opponent immediatly boom is dropped, you just lose.
Otherwise, there is no real problem with Boom.
That being said, rogue is getting shafted this expansion so far, so it's gonna put rogues at an even further disadvantage.
Everyone agrees that he is a valuable 7 slot minion, but he does not see play in Patron Warrior, he does not see play in Face Hunter, so he is not an auto include, he is just a really strong board in himself, which is not inherently wrong, unless you are going against a rogue which literally can't win if you deny them oil targets.
He needs a nerf because blizzard nerfed novice engineer for the exact same thing that Dr. Boom is doing. He's being an auto-include in nearly every deck because he's just that good.
They have to nerf it, it is 9/9 for 7 mana and 2-8 random damage, that is just too good.
And they have to nerf it because I have him twice and want to DE him for 1600 dust ;-)

With the influx of "Nerf Patron Warrior" cries (justified) and now with the "Nerf Varian" cries (not yet justified) i wanted to revive the strongest unanswered cry. NERF THE GOOD DR!!!! NERF HIM NAO!!!
The cards they have nerfed have typically not had answers.
They nerfed Leeroy to kill Miracle, because it was an OTK that didn't have any answers, because Rogue is ALL of the removal.
Turns out that wasn't good enough, so Goblin Auctioneer, the engine of the deck.
They nerfed Buzzard because again, it had no answer (snipe?). It was a two-card combo that did something Hunter isn't supposed to be able to do, which is play strong aggro AND maintain card advantage. Warlock can do it by burning health.
Dr. Boom... yes he's Dr. Value, and yes he's in most decks with room for him, but there are a few things against a nerf:
1)He's not uncounterable. There are as many answers to him as there are to war golem, BGH is just one of the more efficient.
2) He's probably the strongest seven drop, at least in neutral, but what's his competition? We've got a few new contenders, but most of the decent 7 drops are class cards.
If there's a nerf target, I'd put Boom on the list, but he doesn't have the issues that the previous nerfs did.
Eaglehorn Bow, Nat Pagle and Sylvanas Windrunner are just a few examples of cards that, although they were counterable and had little to no competition, still got nerfed because they were clearly over the top.
Dr. Boom is just as big as those cards were back in the day, but the developers think they can just "fix" it without nerfing him. BRM didn't work, now let's see how TGT does on that front...
There is no counter to Dr. Boom. BGH leaves 2 boombots to not only guarantee eliminate the BGH but wreck your other minions as well. There is no play where Boom doesn't come out ahead, regardless of the cards in your hand.
Good point! These do represent a different philosophy of design than what I was aware of. Frankly, it's my fault for simply not being aware of these nerfs. I know stuff like Pyroblast and Mind Control got nerfed in Beta, but that's not quite the same kind of thing.
To smack the nail on the head for the hundredth time, dr. boom is unbalanced mostly because of the card quality in comparison. Sure, there have been posts about mana-efficient removal spells for Dr.Boom, but compare them to ANY other card in the game right now. Generally speaking, almost any other card you can name has some 1 card that can nearly completely null the threat of that card, whether is be polymorph, BGH, or whatever. However, on this occasion, there is no single card that can avoid the devastating death rattle of the boombots, and that is why I still call Dr. Boom OP.

And even if you do Lightbomb, not only do you hurt your own board, but you initiate boombots that can destroy what's left.

No no no.....I wish this question would just die already!! Boom is not OP at all, he's easy to counter. Rarely has my opponent's Boom or Boombot made a significant impact on my playstyle or win-loss record. No idea what ya'll are doing wrong
Tell me this easy way to counter, and not lose out?
countering him normally takes 2 cards - 3 cards which is unfair.
In my opinion Blizzard can nerf him by creating some counters , cards with a new mechanic something like a card with a rewind effect where this effect cancel the effect of a battle cry minions when it is possible

The reason it has been going on for so long is cause Boom really is OP. Unlike the hate on aggro/combo decks/cards which is much more subjective...asking for nerfs cause those things frustrate/annoy many players greatly...Dr. Boom is objectively OP. All the pros know it too. Objectively, Boom has no counter and is not balanced.
