I just updated the post made from MrZNF about Hall of Fame cards last year, ALL THE CREDITS about math and links, goes to him =)
Guys, it's this simple:
- You own a golden copy of the card = Do nothing - You own a regular copy of the card = Do nothing EXCEPT if you like Goldens, you can craft them at reduced cost (see below overview with calculations) - You don't own a copy of the card = Craft golden copy/copies for "free", as you get the dust back when the expansion hits. (In case of lack of dust, craft regular copy/copies instead.)
Many players will make a profit by crafting these 2 and DEing them after the rotation:
Note1: Max dust rewarded is 1 copy per legendary, 2 copies for other rarities. Dust is granted just for your golden copies, not your regular, if you happen to own both regular and golden copies. See bottom of post for a visual overview of dust returns.
If you own the regular version, but are thinking about creating the golden versions (because you are a collector or fancy golden cards); please see below the opportunity cost. Calculations are per individual copy of the card, so multiply by the desired amount of copies to get final dust value.
Note: Essentially it's possible to craft the golden cards without loss, because you can DE them at a later stage if you'll need the dust again. If you know you'll need the dust, it's not worth the effort, as there is no dust gain except for the golden commons (10 dust each).
Gloom Stag / Glitter Moth Don't do anything = +400 Craft Golden = -1600 + 1600 = 0 (i.e. crafting golden opportunity cost = 400. Which equals the DE value = good deal) Craft Golden, dust regular = -1600 + 1600 + 100 = +100 (i.e. replacing regular for golden opportunity cost = 300) Craft Golden, Dust golden = -1600 + 1600 + 400 = +400 (i.e. Same result as doing nothing, so don't bother if you are doing it just for the dust)
Someone with all regular copies would get: 400*4 + 100*2 = 1600 + 200 = 1800 dust Someone with all golden copies would get: 1600*4 + 800*2 = 6400 + 1600 = 8000 dust
Maybe. In my case i have two regular ice block's and no Molten Giants. If i make 2 golden ice block's and 2 golden molten giant's, i will get 3600 dust for each and them i can disenchant bolth for 1600 (400 each) dust more. I guess that is like this.
i dont understand, i dont have any of this cards, so if i craft all 3 golden which is :
2 X iceblock (3200 dust)
2X molten giants(3200 dust)
2X oracles (1600 dust)
i get the full dust back + i can disenchant them and get + 2400 dust ??
pls answer me this
If u don't have any of those regular copies, u will spent 8000 dust, receive your 8000 dust back, and if u want disenchant them, you'll get +2400 dust
Is it profitable if i already own some cards and make the goldens e.g.:
I have Iceblock x2 normal x1 gold i will normaly get 1600+400 after HOF and i will have 3 cards for DE which is 400+100+100 so i will get total of 2000 HOF + 600 DE = 2600 right ?
But what if i craft another copy of Golden Iceblock - i will spent 1600 dust then i will get it back +1600(from my old golden Iceblock) and then i will have 2 x golden Iceblock = 800 for DE and 2x Normal= 200 dust = total of 2600 AGAIN ?!?!
If I understand correctly, you can disenchant your current non-golden cards right now, craft golden versions, then profit afterwards. I don't know if I completely fully understand, or if there's a catch I'm missing, but I think that's how it works. Maybe you keep the non-golden's too just so you can disenchant them after?
I know you get free dust based on the max number you can have in a deck, so you get free dust for the two golds.
Edit: I think people get confused/doubtful simply because it's something that seems too good to be true? I might craft them golden just to get the profit. I think I have the dust to do it right now.

So it is not profitable in this case ?
Am I wrong somewhere in the maths ?
you only get the dust from the golden ones, the normal wont be refunded in this case

Just worth to make 2 golden Molten Giant, because if u make 2 golden Ice Block, you'll spent 3200 dust on it, and gain 3200 dust again from those, disenchanting both u will gain 800 dust, but, if u don't make any Ice Block, you'll gain 800 dust anyway, because you already have the 2 regular ones.

It is only profitable if u don't have the regular copies, otherwise, there's nothing u can do to gain more dust.

You'll only make profit if u don't have the regular copies yet, if u already have 2 Ice Block, 2 Molten Giant and 2 Coldlight Oracle, u will make 1800 dust profit after HOF.

Note2: It IS possible to DE cards after the expansion hits (against regular DE value only) even though Hearthpwn news mentioned it not to be possible; http://www.hearthpwn.com/news/2247-some-classic-cards-moving-to-wild-three-expansions
There is no mention of this in the official Blizzard post; http://us.battle.net/hearthstone/en/blog/20475356/a-year-of-mammoth-proportions-2-16-2017
and Ben Brode already confirmed it on twitter: https://twitter.com/bdbrode/status/832304105624178688
Note3: You WILL get the full dust rewards if you didn't own and get any of these cards after the announcement, as confirmed by Brode:

Someone with all regular copies would get:
400*4 + 100*2 = 1600 + 200 = 1800 dust
Someone with all golden copies would get:
1600*4 + 800*2 = 6400 + 1600 = 8000 dust

so it is possible for those who dont have any of this cards, to make 2400 dust profit?

Enjoy. One rare situation in HS world when the poorest will get richer :)
