Again, this is a very early first thought about the card after only about 6 games. Tried him a couple times in Murlocadin (even drew, and kept Crazed Alchemistand Marin, just to try to get the combo off), but both games ended in a concede before Turn 8. Similar results when tried in Tempo Rogue deck ... won one game early, and then lost another because I was trying to play control, just to drag the game out. And finally tried in a quickly tossed together Secret Mage deck that promptly got smashed by Token Druid.
Anyway ... anyone having any luck with him so far, and what are your thoughts if he is foreshadowing a slower meta?
So you tried to play a slow, control oriented card , in aggressive Tempo style decks?
/facepalm, I'm pretty sure Marin is not the problem. Your deck building skills and comprehension are.
lost another because I was trying to play control, just to drag the game out
Not sure if you just have a lack of reading comprehension skills, or just the typical lack of social skills that seems to be all to prevalent in this sites community.
I was trying to play a Tempo deck essentially in "control" fashion, just to drag the game on long enough to even get to Turn 8.
This has ZERO to do with my "deck building skills" or "comprehension" It is not like I suddenly thought Tempo Rogue was a good control deck, I literally was trying not to win the match, just to be able to play the card.

It's meant to be a fun free legendary. Plus all these ideas of grabbing it and using it on your side of the board, or moat lurker making it reappear, or the cube making two copies, remember Master Chest says make the treasure appear for your opponent. So if it dies on your side, they get the bonus. Cube, N'Zoth, etc would be horrible if this happened. The only reasonable outcome for this is if you're priest and can steal it and inner fire OTK. Otherwise, you just wasted a whole lot of time and cards on a fun silly advantage for your opponent. I like marin. He's fun, but until the expansion comes out and there's other cards to support him, I'm just playing him for fun. At least in a ramp druid, I can get him out and alchemist the chest in one turn early in the game. ...but then what? Lol.
Marin do nerf N'Zoth, the Corruptor a bit though. To not be able to pull N'Zoth, the Corruptor spam in N'zoth fatigue warrior, or pray the treasure won't appear in quest priest kinda feel like a soft nerf to me.
By looking of some cards that actually good deathrattles or supports it (such as Carnivorous Cube), N'Zoth, the Corruptor might become like his brother, Y'Shaarj, Rage Unbound to be part of meta staple in K&C. Marin as the soft nerf somehow supports this. But yea, still early to predict though.
why is it a nerf for N'Zoth? the deathrattle spawns for you opponent, so it would make your opponents N'Zoth weaker
Because if you are a Nzoth player facing Marin, the chest could spawn off Nzoth.
Making Nzoth weaker
Hence nerf

Granted, I have had Marin for all of about an hour now, but he seems to have very little practical use in the current meta. When placed in an aggro or tempo deck, the game is usually decided (if not flat out over) before Turn 8, and control is just too weak right now to want to play it.
Again......to my original point. You question how viable Marin is, and its painfully clear you have no clue as to what deck archetype he fits into.

When the card is run against Purify Priest, it loses a lot of its power. Otherwise, I'm not really sure how far Marin, the Fox is going to go in the future meta. Honestly, a lot of the new cards they've brought out in Kobolds and Catacombs seem like more of the sort of thing people would just put into fun combo decks. But hey, there hasn't been an expansion yet that hasn't impacted the meta and there probably never will be...
I was playing him today in Paladin handbuff deck, while farming last 20 wins for golden portrait.
I played him only if I had big enough minion and clear path on board to kill him right away, and I think 2 times when opponent played Doomsayer .
Best treasure IMHO is "draw 3 cards which cost 0" or something like that. Well, at least for deck I was playing.
Fun card, but too expensive for its stats, and some treasures can actually screw you.

I... I love him.
I really like the card, and the WORST result is drawing 3 cards that cost zero mana.
Unfortunately it will never see play because fun cards are garbage and if you aren't playing aggro, you're going to lose.
