When two cards have a similar effect, I can't help but compare them and between Krul the Unshackled and Deathwing, Dragonlord I think Krul is better. Here's why:
Krul has more options, in both wild and Standard there are currently 28 demon cards and 25 dragons.
Of those cards 21/28 demons benefit from being summoned by Krul (excluding cards like Unlicensed Apothecary which could very well kill you if Krull summons it or Abyssal Enforcer which negates its battlecry.) meanwhile only 13/25 dragons benefit from being summoned by Deathwing (sure Alexstrasza has a large body but a lot of people play her for her battlecry, same with Book Wyrm and Drakonid Operative.)
Now of course this is just my opinion and I understand that the goals of these cards is to quickly summon a board full of powerful minions but when I look at both of these cards critically this is what I think.
In this meta, both of them are terrible. Aggro games are over far beyond the time you get to play them, and any good Reno opponent will polymorph the board.
It really depends on how many of each type you would likely play in your deck, and how big of an impact the ones you run would be. Dragons are typically large, so summoning 3 dragons with Deathwing will likely be a much bigger swing than summoning 3 demons with Krul, so the impact of Deathwing is likely larger when it goes off (even if you miss Alex's battlecry I'd rather have a free 8/8 than a free 3/2 Flame Imp) . Deathwing is also a much bigger minion for hardly any more cost, but it can be silenced/transformed/bounced.
In short, It's too simple to look at just the number of minions that benefit from being summoned by them in my opinion. There are other variables that need to be considered before you can claim that one is mathematically better than the other.
And Krull requires a deck to be built around it to be worthy, which lowers the value of a renolock kit.
You may end up with a hand full of demons you don't want to play during early and mid game. Having strategic cards waiting for the right spot and the alternative is a discard minion? Not a pleasant decision. Having Krull and Jaraxxus together in hand, slows down even more, do you want a useless 3/15 on board?
Yes, Kabal Trafficker can add some more, but probably just one more. Kazakus potion to add them? When does a Renolock have room enough to fit 3 extra cards? Tap less? Many key cards will arrive too late.
That's why that card isn't seeing much play.
I have tried a Krul-renolock deck, it's fun, but other variants do it so much better that it's not worthy. Was my first MSoG legendary, gave it a chance, but that's it.
Simply because N'Zoth the Corruptor simply makes everything the same, only better. It summons not minions from your hand and make the board more vulnerable to AoE, it simply creates them. Krul also requires minions on your hand, something you can't be sure at this stage of the game. N'zoth is always good if some deathrattle minions already died, something you shouldn't had problems at this stage of the game.
Also N'zoth does not decrease your hand-size by an large amount.
Mathematically it might be better, but it is far from good.
Mathematically, there sure are a few people in here who aren't 100% sure how "mathematically" works!
As stated elsewhere, both cards suck, but the demon sucks harder and with greater determination. You can put Deathwing in any deck, though he's probably only worth the slot in a greedy control N'Zoth. Kruul goes in one deck, in which he will generally perform pretty poorly.

You can't really compare them because Krul is a Battlecry, which always triggers, whereas Deathwing is a deathrattle, which triggers.. almost never.

I've been running Kruul in my wild demonlock reno n'zoth deck. 10/10 would play again.
