Currently, I'm building a Midrange Shaman deck because I want something new and my token Shaman build just wasn't performing as much as I wanted it to... I had such high hopes too..
But anyways, for Midrange in particular but an analysis of the two cards in many applications would make me happy too, why is Argent Squire chosen over Worgen Infiltrator so much? He trades up, and can't be easily killed by anything other than a board wipe. It seems to me that he is the better choice unless you are running some sort of synergy deck or something, yet every midrange deck I've seen runs the Squire.
EDIT: Smack me if this has been posted before, but I couldn't find the question around. :P
I believe it's due to the divine shield. It allows the argent squire to be useful in a lot of situations like getting buffed by argent defender into taunt means it requires 2 attacks to kill. It works well with buffs to kill things, ie you could rockbiter it to kill a 4 health minion and still have a 1-1 left over. Also it's effectively immune to one aoe whereas worgen infiltrator will be killed by any and all aoe.
Only time i really see worgen being better is killing things with 2 hp other than that the divine shield of the argent is just more useful.
Worgen is too much pasive, if you drop him on t1, you for sure cant attack on t2 unless you can trade. Vs control and midrange is more and more a dead drop to me. And dinive shield have better sinergy with a lot of cards like blood knight, argus, etc.
Many of the decks that use squire use things like dark iron dwarf, SS cleric and other buffing cards that can make the squire bigger and not only trade but be able to 2 for 1.
Also although the infiltrator has 2 attack the squire can in essence do the same by just attacking twice not to mention it survives many things such as hero powers.
The Argent Squire has more durability, and is usually in a better position to do damage to the enemy.
Your Worgen is only good if you can get a trade - which means he'll probably stay in stealth if you can't get a kill. If an AoE happens before then you've lost tempo and a card - and won't have done face damage. The Argent squire is usually better off not trading. Removal won't kill her right away. You can use your own removal to keep attackers off of her and pick away at your opponent's health starting on turn 2. Also, if you buff her - the Divine Shield still guarantees that it'll take at least 2 damage sources to kill her.
Honestly, I'm not sure either is a good fit for Shaman. If you need something at 1-mana, you might want to consider the Goldshire or Shieldbearer - both will keep early attackers off of your Totems - and if you're lucky and draw a Healing Totem right away, they can stall your enemy for even longer.
