Sometimes I think that wild is harder then standard because your all the time not sure about which archetype your opponent will play or which cards his/her deck would contain. Sometimes I make a totally wrong prediction in if my opponent would play an aggro deck for example. So I mulligan for some certain cards which I later regret. Somehow I have less problems with it in the standard mode.
I'm curious about other players opinion's and some strategies / tips to deal better with it.
my opinion, in wild you cannot know if someone plays aggro, control or combo... every class has some form of those archetypes... However, the more you play the more often you will find yourself facing a class with a certain archetype... and you can place a bet on that archetype being played by that class... you will be wrong sometimes, but if you see now for example, 80-90% of the mage players I see nowadays are secretmages...
A personal opinion, the randomness of each archetype on each class makes wild much more fun then standard... you will mulligan differently, you wont mulligan for tech cards but more for the manacurve...

I don't think one is harder than the other. They are just different. I prefer wild for the reasons ibraman stated....the variety of opponents is greater, so it's not as stale. I rarely play ladder anymore, but when I did I was able to rank around the same in both wild and standard. But, I found wild more fun! :)
Interesting question. Assuming that you have a good collection to build the decks you want in both formats I would say that from my experience, Standard is a little more difficult than Wild. I find it's easier for me to rank up in Wild, I seem to win more often. No idea why that is but it's been that way for me since the formats were introduced. Could be that a lot of people play some real crazy stuff in Wild especially from ranks 15 - 5 which im is the best constructed fun HS has to offer.
In Standard you pretty much know what your opponent is playing as soon as you see which class they are but in Wild you never know what to expect. My general rule is to just muligan for Aggro and if it turns out to be control or something else then no problem. At least I'm not dead by turn 4/5!
Last week I hit Legend for the very first time in Wild. My biggest achievement in Standard is R2 and I play for about two years. In that context, I'd say that's indeed easier because I play Wild for about 3 or 4 months now.
My point is that you get used to the archetypes and power level of the others in the same manner as in Standard. Also you can expect more aggressive decks to be present near the milestone ranks and more laid back ones after you pass the milestones. That's a clue.
Another clue for knowing what you are facing is to monitor whether they mulligan off their left-most card. For Mage and Warlock this is a great hint to guide you through your first 1-2-3 turns.

Thanks for the advice so far! Why could a mulligan of the left-most card show me some information? Is the left-most card always the quest when you have it in your deck?

That sounds like a plan. I'm often keeping certain tech cards but they aren't always needed and then I end up with something pretty useless. I guess it's better then to focus for anti aggro :). Thanks for the tip!
Until rank 5 specially until rank 10 u face a great variety of decks. My last 10 matches i never faced the same deck twice. U can say that than its harder cause u never know what ur facing. True u don't know and thats why u need to mulligan for a lower curve. Always keep anti aggro cards. Keep tech cards as well: example if u face a paladin keep a silence or any transform card like polymorph poison seeds and sap/vanish cause hand buff paladin relies on their buffed mechs. Weapon ooze is must keep aswell facing mages warlocks and warriors tho pirate warrior has been nerfed.
Overall its easier to rank up until rank 5 than standard because of all the diversity u face there. Plus its not as boring as standard cause there u face the same 3 to 4 decks even in casual. In fact in my this month run to rank 5 i believe the only decks ive faced more than twice were galakrond decks that weren't even including the wild cards.
The odds of facing a deck that u are favoured to win are larger in wild plus some even matchups that can be decided depending on some plays u make or some tech cards u include. The deck building is a lot better u can actually make ur deck or change something in a famous deck and get wins with while in standard the decks are optimised for a particular reason and if u change it u gonna get hit with loses

Exactly that.
If they keep it that could be a quest deck - either Quest or Exodia Mage or Mecha'Thun Warlock or Quest Shaman (did not faced many of those after R5). Although the opposite is a stronger evidence - if they mulligan it off, then they are almost 100% not a quest deck. I remember a thread that people were discussing whether it's a good strategy to mulligan off your quest from the starting hand when facing certain archetypes... but can't remember the conclusion.
It is definitely easier. I got my Legend card back in Wild - getting it in Standard at the time seemed like an incredible time sink. I've started laddering my $5TP account in Wild to get the monthly Rank 5.
I also think Wild in EU server is easier the the NA server because fewer EU players do Wild (IMO).
you wont find any pros (or good players) in ranked wild
It's because blizzard doesn't organize many tournaments for Wild and the money pool is weak compared to Standard so you see more pro players flock to Standard.
how is that a question ?? wild is almost casual mode, ofc its easier. i can reach rank 5 with only standard decks lol
you wont find any pros (or good players) in ranked wild
Not ANY good players is a stretch, reaching top 100 legend in Wild is still a stiff challenge.
However, it is noticeable that the pool of serious players is a small fraction of what it is in Standard, so reaching rank 5 is a lot easier. At the end of the season, people even play weird weak decks even higher up.
Btw, I have reached rank 5 in Wild for the easy golden epic every month for 2 years+ and I do the same in standard whenever I have more time to play and find a deck I like.

yes thats mainly the reason. no incentives to play a dead format

i always thought they should reward BOTH ranked finishes, so ppl explore wild format a little more

Define dead format. Is it number of players? Cause i find a match very fast. In casual takes a little more time. In ranked is pretty fast

This does not mean it's harder the "top" players represent such a small percentage of total player base. Yes it's true wild has more casuals but we all just hang out at rank 10-5. If you want to get to legend you will need to invest the time and the skills
EDIT also for what it's worth, when I want to screw around in standard,I usually zip up the standard ranks pretty quick. Currently climbed from rank 20-10 this month playing Alba T Ross priest, I figure may as well take the stupid deck to 5.
Wild is way harder than standard for 1 simple reason... more cards that you have to play around. Not knowing what decks your playing against. There are so many cards that can be used in wild even for me a constant wild player it's difficult to know all the cards in their deck
Ranked Wild is pretty stagnant since people are just going to play what works and so you run into the same broken reliable decks again and again. The fact they can't squeeze one or two nerfs at the main offenders unless ppl cry about them for years is deplorable.
Joke is on them because since they put so little effort into keeping the mode fresh they are losing players every day.
