I just played Heig and spammed with Reincarnation and Kels Hero Power. I didn't summon anything else. Kels power is too strong lol
Only against poor opponents.
Better Raf players will counter this by mulliganing hard for transform effects, filling your graveyard with garbage & relegating Kel's hero power to the same sort of rng lottery as Raf's.
Once Kel's graveyard becomes polluted with bad cards, Raf gains the upper hand.
Though Kel can still win by flooding the board, if Raf doesn't draw into his board clears.
It's a good brawl, in that it separates poor & competent players, but once both players understand the optimal strategy, it's just an RNG-fest.
Yep, ima play it now till people don't know whats up yet.
Utter trash brawl. Tried playing as RAF a few times but Kels so much better. Just kept conceding till I got Kel and as soon as I got him my op conceded. Fuck this arse brawl.
I feel this is the best brawl since Ragnaros vs Nefarian & also Alleria vs Medivh... loved these boss brawls even though yes... one side seems always OP...
Having played this brawl a tad more, I must say it's like a game of checkers, one side has a combo, the other a combo breaker. The battle outcome depends on whether Rafaam would do a combo break, or whether Kel would fail playing his combo. Apparently this brawl requires some skill to even have a chance to win vs a seasoned opponent.
1) opponent is an idiot who plays his mad scientist or creeper first 2) godly RNG with your cards 3) lucky start with the "Transform into a 2/1 Pit snake" ---> Heigan transform to remove it from the game
Otherwise it's just unfair. All your opponent Kel has to do is slam Heigan or that guy who does 4 random damage and keep resurrecting it, voilat, you win.
I dont know why you all think KT isOP i am 6-0 with Rafaam and 1-4 with KT ^^
Rafaam is an RNGFest. If you get both pieces of your staff early, then sure, you can get to the OP legendary minion hero power. With each legendary costing 4 less, thats a huge tempo boost that pretty much wins you the game. However, if you lose a piece of the staff to counterspell, you're gonna be in a really tight spot. If you lose a flamestrike to a counterspell, again, very tight spot. Rafaam needs to draw into the right cards at the right times, get lucky with the hero power, and pray to RNGesus that the KT player doesn't manage to put out 2 or 3 heigans.
As KT however, you're much less reliant on RNG and much more consistent. Mulligan hard for a heigan. The dream as a KT player is triggering duplicate on heigan, or just having heigan be the first minion to die on your board. Then just resurrect and resurrect over and over.
Even aside from heigan, KT's legendaries are all pretty solid (except sapphiron. Haven't seen him being too useful). Loatheb goes without saying, can delay flamestrike and staff pieces, among other things, but even Noth can be deadly if played on a decent board. Anub is amazing, 2nd only to heigan I'd say. Faerlina is similarly good, especially in the early game when Rafaam usually has a large hand. Gruul helps generate board control, though that does interfere with the revive's consistency. There are a few others but you get the idea. Oh, and lets not forget the 8 mana darkness calls spell which has, so far, been an instant win for any game I've played, whether I'm Rafaam or KT has been irrelevant. If me or my opponent drops darkness calls, the tempo from it is just too much. Usually an instant win.
This. Full on.
Played two more games and was lucky enough to play as KT in both. In both my games the Raf player played well. Using 0 mana spells to pop my Counterspell then following up by getting the Staff online. Not wasting removal early in the game. One opponent got Tirion, Nefarion, and Grommash... didn't matter. I had played Loatheb behind a duplicate, and was resurrecting them turn after turn, while adding more board presence at the same time. It was just a matter of time before his side was empty and my side was full. Flamestrike was a 7 mana joke. Really, Rafaam would need a 0 mana Twisting Nether to have a good chance here, as the 0/3's on his side need to be cleared just as much as KT's creatures.
Can Rafaam win? Obviously yes, but the odds are stacked overwhelmingly against him. Actually, to think about it, if Rafaam's staff ability was Discover a Legendary and it costs 4 less, then it would be definitely be more interesting.
The only game I have lost as KT was one where I was trying to win by doing nothing but reviving gothik and filling his board with 0/3's. And even then Rafaam only won because he rolled a Malygos and had 40something dmg in his hand from spells. As KT half the people concede instantly, the other half concede as soon as you start reviving your OP legendaries.
Is there any list of the "Undead" minions spawned from Gluth? Also, isn't this an indication that this minion subtype might appear in the future (WoG or later) ?
Well, after I read this nice thread, I logged into my Americas account, queued into the brawl, got Rafaam and made sure only to kill lousy minions to fill Kel's reincarnate queue with crap, dealing with his big minions only when it was strictly necessary. Got my pack, went to dinner.
Afterwards logged into my EU account, got Kel, made sure not to play crappy minions, coined Gothik, killed it myself, kept reviving Gothik -almost got rolled by lady Naz'jar, who screws with the spectral Gothik plan BIG TIME- but kept the pressure on anyways, and had enough big minions to deal with Rafaam's undercosted legends. I cannot say I cruised to victory, but it was basically a matter of applying a plan and sticking to it.
Final verdict: it's fairly balanced, it's not really fit for the kiddies that need a 2-minute brawl to farm quests and gold, for that, wait for the randomonium again and let the rest play in peace.

Well, you played 2 games, so obviously, you have it all figured out. :) "Kill KT"S weak minions" most people don't play weak minions.
Final verdict: it's heavily in favor of KT, but kiddies who win one game as Rafaam think it's balanced. Final Final verdict: It's a brawl, so who cares.
Yes, I played two games, won my two packs and moved on to greater things. I have it all figured it out, thank you very much. It's a brawl, and indeed no one cares.

played a little more, and TBh Sir finley shouldn't even be apossibility in raffam's last hero pwoer, it makes it so BAD
Rafaam have some great BM arsenal i must say.
After rushing to tier 3 hero power, my first five Legendaries as Rafaam last game:
Justicar Trueheart
Wilfred Fizzlebang
Jaraxxus
Sir Finley Murrgleton
Majordomo Executus
Notice a theme? -_-
Ridiculous. Kelthuzad's hero power + Heigen the Unclean FTW. Not even close. I won my free pack, that's the last I'll play this brawl.
Can i just say OH MY FUCKING GOD I LOVE THIS TAVERN BRAWL SO FUCKING MUCH
Check out my Custom Undead Expansion!
...Or my Custom Elemental Expansion!

Near impossible to win if your not KT. Heigan, hero power forget about it.
Very Disappointing.

Won 2 in a row with Kel'Thuzad... in the end my board was flooded & his was empty... all thanks to Noth the Plaguebringer
"You live or you die..."
I actually won 2/3 as rafaaam, very hard games though. But as long as you upgrade your staff fast you got this.

There is a lot of steak here...
Only ways you can win as Rafaam:
1) opponent is an idiot who plays his mad scientist or creeper first
2) godly RNG with your cards
3) lucky start with the "Transform into a 2/1 Pit snake" ---> Heigan transform to remove it from the game
Otherwise it's just unfair. All your opponent Kel has to do is slam Heigan or that guy who does 4 random damage and keep resurrecting it, voilat, you win.
I've lost 2 so far as Rafaam, I think Kel's deck is much better and his hero power is completely OP
