I usually try to find fun combos and use unpopular cards and create my own strategy but lately it seems like whatever I try to build and refine it turns out it’s already a meta deck. Thus is my response to iskars question. Make deckbuilding fun for longer than 2 weeks after an expansion.
Ive played wild and enjoyed it, last year I decided to focus on standard thinking there is less to worry about, and a lot of the top tier wild decks had me pretty frustrated. I will probably give wild another go in April but I’m also looking forward to not having quests and death knights in standard anymore... It’s a trade off I guess.
Your deck doesn't have to have a 55% winrate and be top tier in order for you to enjoy deckbuilding. A part of deckbuilding I enjoy is optimization, and that means finding the best possible list of cards for that deck's win condition. Sometimes, your win condition will max out at like 40%, and that's okay because you spent the time optimizing your list around your win condition. THAT'S what deck building is all about. NOT just throwing together a list of cards you know are already good and "accidentally" making tempo rogue.
Want some examples? Look at the three decks in my signature. These decks are all pretty bad but I've enjoyed the process of 1) AHA I have an idea! 2) Original list, 3) Holy crap those cards did not work like I thought, and 4) Substitutions in order to better support your win condition.
I have 3 decks in my profile that are very similarly made and refined and often once optimized can give a high win rate because you know every card, you hand picked it and you did it for a reason so your knowledge of the deck and how it is supposed to work is instantly there and the fun comes from surprising people with the interesting combos and interactions that aren't at all game breaking but good to see pulled off none the less.

It’s really sad when u can only get excited for 2 week period and then it gets stale fast.
I can tell you Wild does help about that.
It's not the heaven of homebrews that we all would like it to be, but there is much more room for homebrewing there, even after the meta settles.
I mean, in Wild, a homebrew has better chances to be viable in the meta.
That's the main reason why i play Wild.
