Literally 20 minutes of two players playing solitaire until turn 15 at which point he either has the combo assembled based on where his combo pieces are in his deck and wins, or doesn't and loses
Also this deck punishes slow decks and sucks against aggro. Therefore its the deck i hate the most, and that says a lot in a world with brainless turds grinding ladder with aggro paladin.
Turn 15? A good exodia Mage will have it by turn 10. In wild its not even necessary to go that long if u run Thaurissian.
I agree its solitary i play it in casual and ranked wild when i get a perfect draw of Frost Nova and Blizzard its just crazy and i feel sorry for my opponent as he cant even pop the first ice block due to that.

Because everyone knows what you draw is skill dependent

right? when i play exodia mage i always opt to draw my combo pieces first and then the rest of the cards, unless im playing aggro; then i'll choose to draw my freeze effects instead
Exodia mage has always been the bane of Hearthstone as a deck concept.
What’s ironically worse is that Blizzard relegated some cards to Hall of Fame last year because they didnt like decks that employed OTK as a win condition. And yet they ‘forgot’ to get rid of Ice Block back then...
they’ve finally decided to rectify the mistake, but it’s a bit late in the day...
Exodia Mage is a disgrace. There should never be a situation in this game where one can generate infinite fireballs. It just pisses all over what card games are supposed to be.
I'm glad Cock Block and Shitlight Oracle are finally going, hope it is enough to kill it off.
For quite a while, I was right there with you on your opinion about Exodia mage. Somewhere on the forum, I even made a thread about it.
But then I ended up with the cards to make the deck, and I had also started watching a streamer play the deck quite a bit, so I gave it a shot. At first, I disliked it even more. The win rate sucked. For someone that seemed to always lose against it, I never could seem to win with it.
But, then I realized ... it is not uninteractive. It is not just doing nothing until you draw the cards you need, then winning. And it was then that I came to love the deck. Not as something that I would want to play constantly, or try to ladder with, but as a way to take a break from all the other bullshit in the game.
Exodia Mage is my escape deck. It's where I go when I am tilited. It's where I go when I really don't care about stars.
There is SO much more to playing the deck well than just trying to blast through your deck and draw an unstoppable win condition. Managing hand size. Knowing when you need to freeze, and when you can afford to take the damage. Finding the out when you are two or three turns away from winning, but out of ways to stall.
People always complain that "the deck is solitaire". To some extent this is true. But is that bad? This is the only deck where MY decisions have more effect on the outcome of the game than my opponent. In a game where so much is just "play the card with the number on it that matches your mana number" ... it is a wonderful thing to actually have to THINK about every play. To have to THINK two or three turns in advance. To have to try to make room in your hand for cards you don't even have yet.
And blizzard, in what I believe was a horrible move, dictated by complaints from so many people about a deck they probably never tried to learn to play, decided to kill it. A deck that has almost no chance of even maintaining a 50% win rate. A deck that has more ways to counter it than almost any other. A deck that is "countered" by more than half the decks on the ladder, without them even making a single change ... gets killed because of "design space".
So thanks Blizz ... for killing what is literally the ONLY deck I considered "fun" to play.

So much is incorrect in the above post that I don’t even have the energy... lol
...and many other people in this thread act like, you just have to sit and wait to win with Exodia, which is stupid as well. Fact is that Quest Mage is a rather tough deck to play with, because you need to have good decision making.
That doesn't mean, it can't be fun, nor does it make a good deck for a healthy meta. As pointed out before Quest Mage is one of the most uninteractive games (just like Freeze) which is basicly what blizzard claimed to despise even before printing the quest.
To each their own I suppose? But calling someones opinion "incorrect" is... well, go figure. Remember he was not telling facts.
I love playing Exodia mage, building the pieces necessary to burn your opponent down always was exciting to me. Like will I get it in time? Will I die? it's quite a roll of the dice, love the deck.
When people are going to stop complaining and just play the game...?
Exodia mage is awesome to play, very skillful archetype. I agree it is mostly waiting on your combo and then win. Which can feel bad for the opponent ^^. But that's the trick while you are waiting you have to deal with all your opponent threats, which if you make the wrong decisions will make you loose.
And if you play against Exodia mage, easy peasy, just get your mind into an aggro/face state and you will probably win even if your deck is supposed to be controle. As Exodia mage is very weak to early threats. I never loose against them unless I get bad draws and mulligan.
I used to play it a lot, fun and all, but bad win rate to climb the ladder. So I use it when I want a break from the meta decks ^^
People don't know how to enjoy things... Like the prenerf yogg, miss him so much. After all it was meant to be a fun game. I love seing op bullshit! Power makes it insane. Big power against Big power makes it even crazier haha
Exodia mage is hard as hell to play. If it was op ot would be used a lot more. It's hard as hell even with good draws. And in a meta plagued by tempo secrt mage which is the worst possible deck against exodia mage.
Only harder than this deck is DMH fatigue

I would disown my son if I saw him playing that deck. And big priest.
What? This deck has an unspeakable elegance. And you almost always think a lot because other decks are way more op.
