Hey guys! Linklaters here - mutliple Legend player - and always looking for improvement, fun and cool stuff to play.
I just came up with a pretty solid list for Dragon Priest including 2 Entomb, cutting the very expensive minions and stacking up multiple ways of board clear to fight off your enemies in this very board oriented meta.
Would you mind take a look and speak about your experience with or against Dragon Priests these days, so that i can have even more Data or facts to think about.
I wrote a decent long guide for the deck - so feel free to give your thoughts right at the bottom of the decklist or here :)
Hello! I've been playing a dragon priest with ysera and voljin instead of sylvanas and chilllmaw. Despite the hype of brann in dragon priest, I think that it's too slow. Also, if you have two entombs, I think that two shadow word deaths is too much removal. A cabal would better suit the deck.
Hey thanks for your reply - Voljin and Ysera were major staples in my earlier lists for good reason - Ysera got cut because of double entomb as i explained in the deck guide.
but you might have a point about the 2 shadow word death and 2 entomb beeing a little bit too much removal - i'll test this for some more games and then maybe sub 1 Shadow word with voljin to have another big minion and removal in one
thx for the reply again -- right now i subbed 1 shadow word for Vol'jin and Dr. Boom with Loatheb --> makes the deck even more aggressive and midrangy -- working fine so far.
thx for a look at your list - but i dont think faerie dragon is that good in priest --> most of the time you wanna either buff or heal your creatures and he cant be targeted - therefore he dies way to easy at the start of the game.
Im also not a fan of dragonkin sorcerer - but i assume you play some kind of budget list because you might miss some other cards?
Mass Dispel is a really good card though - played this also in previous lists
funny thing is I usually keep the Faerie Dragon in hand in order to activate Twilight Drake on turn 1, Wyrmrest Agent on turn 2 and Blackwing Technician on turn 3. I rarely play it but keep in in hand to play all other dragons and synergies strictly on curve. I was suspicious at first too but for me it worked out.
If this is your rationale for Faerie Dragon, then I'd suggest a better dragon, like Dragonkin Sorcerer to buff or Chromag to at least have another threat late-game. The only upside to Faerie Dragon would be if you ran dark cultist instead of BW tech, and that is highly conditional.

so true ^^ thats why i never would run faerie dragon in priest - although the card is kinda cool
by the way i just had a blast with my list and ran to rank 2 --> turned out that the midrange approach with loatheb is very strong
Twilight drake will hardly get any value in this kind of deck as you don't have enough card draw unless you spend turns 2 and 3 healing your norshire cleric: not rly optimal, is it? anyways, it won't happen often.
Brann's synergy is too weak, i honestly don't even know why people thought he would've been good in dragon priest: turn 3 Brann, turn 4 -> +1 atk on your Guardian, assuming Brann lived that turn. How often will you be able to use the doubled deathrattle on twilight drake?
Double entomb + vol'jin... too situational imo. I run 1x entomb to remove Tirion or Sylvanas, but it's not very efficient otherwise.
I don't understand why you would cut the strongest dragon in the deck: Ysera. It's literally your only lategame card, synergyze with the dragons and it's a super solid minion. Really, there's no way Ysera can be cut.
All in all: the standard dragon priest core is strong, as we all know, the tinkering is out of place imo.
instead of murdering down every thought i made i suggest to give the deck a try - i went 12-2 today and easily climbed to rank2
and this was also because of brann staying on the board or played correctly and by removing enemy threats with entomb and gaining even more tempo( maybe look up the guide before judging)
Brann is not a turn 3 play all the time - ofc you can play him turn 3 but very often yoou play him some rounds later and buff 2-3 minions or get double card draw - hes not overpowered but hes flexible and everyone who ever played druid knows how strong flexibility is
and the reason i cut ysera is - once you draw her into your mainhand or the first 3 turns she stays there for almost all the time and is a dead card - entomb is so much more flexible
I used to run Chillmaw myself for a long time but ended up more hurt than good. One Entomb is better as Dragon Priest is a tempo deck at heart and you lose a lot of tempo with 2 of them.
What i don't like are the specific tweaks. How many times has double entomb been valuable? How many times have you been able to pull off good Brann combos? How many times have you been able to make a 4-6+ twilight drake?
I can give you an answer to all of the question in once: It happens quite often - you will not always have all of these question answered positive in one game - BUT: it is often times enough if one of them happens to come true - then you most likely win

Nice deck. I like the choices and can understand 2x Entomb > Ysera
I played Shadowform priest... Rank3 last season, and heading for Legend this one.
Cutting Ysera may be a good call, I suggest the playtest, and... hell, you made it to Rank 2 so far, awesome!
I run 2x Entomb + 2x Holy Nova, Lightbomb, Excavated Evil.... BUT, Im playing a complete bizarre deck :- )
I like your deck... but the Meta I'm stuck in, i can't even reach rank 16 with a Dragon Priest deck. Oh well, just have to keep practicing I guess ^^
